It happens with both cases, and yes a lot of the time it's due to picking things up while you have your gun out then trying to put it back when it no longer fits. This thread isn't really about how it happens though, it's about ways to notify the player when it happens.

Good video. Kinda feel bad for the other guys though. Tip for future videos, use a logo with a transparent background and/or make it smaller and in a different corner as it's covering the text chat. :)

Questions about heli loot, tire repair, bus driving
LucidHills replied to alheira's topic in New Player Discussion
I don't think heli crash loot respawns until the heli respawns. Not sure though. To repair a tire: (Old UI) Look at the wheel on the car with your crosshair. Use a lug wrench in hands on wheel to remove it (F key). (New UI) In inventory, drag wheel to ground. Look at the wheel on the ground with your crosshair. Use tire repair kit in hands on wheel to repair it (F key). (The status may not update but it should when you pick it up/reattach it)The bus is underpowered at the moment. They will probably fix this later. It is best to get a run up for hills and gear down as you slow down going up hills. -
Change the names of these food items please
LucidHills replied to sneakydudes's topic in Suggestions
It's the same way in Australia too. But if, how it is in-game, is what it's like where the game is set, I have no problem with it. -
I'm amazed at how quickly you lined up and shot the last guy! Also you might want to tone down the fast forward noise. The pitch and volume of it is kinda uncomfortable.

No Microphone - Can I use Chat Macros?
LucidHills replied to callmedee's topic in New Player Discussion
I'm not sure how programming razor gear works but with my logitech mouse I can set a key to trigger a 'multi key' function, which is basically a recorded keyboard macro. -
It would be interesting if the vehicles required a key to start the engine. Otherwise you would have to spend a semi random amount of time (soft skill?) hot wiring it to get it going. The keys would spawn in or near (in one of the nearby buildings) when the vehicle spawns. While on the topic of locked doors, I think that after a door has been forcibly opened, it shouldn't be able to be closed properly again or at least can't be locked again. It'd be cool if there was a broken door model too. Something like these:

Yeah, I realised the same thing with cars too. Not sure if it actually spawns more, or if players just check cars less. I have only found one Amphibia mag and it was in a piano building, upstairs, on the table. This was in 0.59 exp.

According to the wiki, it has identical stats as the ballistic helmet.
-
I am pretty sure it's just an exploit that allows you to see your surroundings.
-
I don't think arrows/bolts being relatively easy to craft would be a problem. It would encourage the use of the bow/crossbow as a viable option rather than something only RP players ever use.

Camouflage cloth over wraps and soldier uniform jacket with a HOODIE
LucidHills replied to CGNoodlePot (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Maybe it could work like putting your backpack on backwards? It'd help your aim while prone but hinder it while crouched or standing. You'd switch it from the inventory. Thoughts? -
This all sounds like pretty good ideas. I do like the running into things at sprint should hurt (or trip?) you idea, but with desync, this could be a nightmare.

"Nail Bats" and other (realistically) crappy weapons
LucidHills replied to Whyherro123's topic in General Discussion
Both sides of this argument are right and wrong. Air drag is not an issue in any way. All the effort you have to put in to swing a bat is fighting inertia, not drag. Adding nails would have advantages and disadvantages in terms of damage. They have mostly already been discussed but it all just comes down to a trade off. I don't think either way is 'better'. I wouldn't want to be hit with either. As for in-game, I'd say the nailed bat should have higher bleed chance and damage but lower shock. -
Damn. A shame really. It would have been a neat addition. I would have also liked that you'd have a small chance you could get sick from being hit by a zombie.
-
I've always wanted that dead players bodies who haven't been head shot will get up 5-15 minutes after death, and become another zombie. The zombie AI would just be controlling the players old body so it'd look like a player except it'd have the zombie animations and have empty hands. would make going to loot your kill after waiting too long to do so an interesting experience. I also support the idea of regular zombies sometimes having some mediocre loot on them which would only ever be ruined to damaged.
-
I don't think so. I am pretty sure it's the number of items that matter, not what the items are. It's better to fill your inventory with one slot items, or one slot items inside containers as the container counts as one too. Yes and no. That used to be the case but for whatever reason it's the reverse now. Take a look at that video I posted. WOBO explains it well. Either way, putting things in containers helps.

Wait, doors actually hold them back for you? Every time I run from zeds into a building, closing the doors behind me, they just ghost right through like it was nothing. Also, all talk of experimental apart from videos is supposed to go in the experimental thread (I assume you're playing on experimental if you're encountering zeds).
-
That is correct. WOBO covered this too. https://youtu.be/YVpSBSZjg4M?t=4m22s

I've found most of that type of ammo in houses. Most commonly on bookshelves in my experience. Ammo has been made very rare and mags are super rare in the 0.59 build.

This is the first time an idea of being able to better identify other players hasn't been terrible. I like it but it really all comes down to it's execution. Not really a fan of text popping up but I can't think of any other way to do it. There would also need to be a counter. Like if their face is covered you can't identify them or something. Or you'd only know them by their clothes. Still it's an interesting idea.
-
I try avoid military clothes all together so I don't look "geared". The idea being people are less likely to kill me on sight... It doesn't work.
-
Shopping carts were also mentioned in that thread. Just sayin'.

What effect would tear gas have on a player? Something like this maybe: red haze over the screen, mostly around the edges of the screen with the top and bottom of your screen being taken up by blurry edged black bars. Simulating squinting through stinging eyes. Would it be cleared with water? or even milk if that ever exists in the game?
-
Yes, I agree. We should definitely add thongs to the game. or "flip flops" as you non Australians call them. On a more serious note. Yeah it'd be cool if the vehicles are more than W to go forward and S to brake/reverse like so many games. Maybe the sedan would be automatic but manual transmissions would be awesome with the other announced vehicles. It'd be neat if the V3S needed you to use double clutch and had a lot more gears. Maybe the more you grind the gears with bad gear shifts the more you wear out the engine. I just really like games that have realistic vehicle controls. Particularly with aircraft when we get those. Helicopters are meant to be hard to fly for someone who's inexperienced. I'm not asking for a full flight sim inside DayZ but just something more than the super oversimplification and hand holding a lot of games do.
