The community's view of being able to respawn while unconscious?
lrp1984 replied to blunce's topic in General Discussion
I agree, there should be a timer of at least two minutes, and perhaps make it impossible to respawn when your blood is at a level where you will wake up within five minutes. Smokey, this is not 'Nam. This is bowling. There are rules. -
Here, Devs, a word in your shell like..

If you've managed to fall unconscious due to thirst, you have bigger issues than the unconscious screen. I can't imagine anyone that is unable to feed and hydrate themselves had anything worth holding on to that they wouldnt click respawn immediately. -

I can only assume this is trolling. -
They also spawn on the roofs of buildings (that have accessable roofs). I have seen them on apartment roofs quite often.

Private hives are indeed the best way to go.

I don't think I've even bothered with a public server since November. If you don't want server hoppers, find a decent private server and make it your home.

10 minutes is cutting it a little too fine, hell, even 30 minutes is. I always do it the night before.

They did a character wipe and fixed a few of the known duplication methods I think. I've personally not seen people with unlimited ammo clips for a long time. The devs have done things that slow dupers down, like stopping putting high cap vests inside vests etc. I've killed people with crazy inception vests before.. a vest within a vest within a vest within a vest. It's where people duplicate an item through a hack, or through actions in game. Either way it's against the rules and the spirit of the game.

jeu buggé mais acheté demande de remboursement
lrp1984 replied to josé du 69's topic in Troubleshooting
Connection failed? That sounds like an issue on your end. There are hundreds/thousands of servers, if you get connection failed when the majority of others don't, then you might want to fix your issues. You can't expect a refund for a product you have purchased that you're not able to use because of your own problems. Try buying a car and then demanding a refund because you've not got a dirving license. -
Nope, no point, no reward other than making you wait another 30 seconds to play the game. This won't happen all the time, and to be honest, you're more likely to be killed by another fresh spawn than a particulary geared player. If two of you spawn in around the same time, it's a race to the farming ho for survival. A few of my friends and I like to play something we call "pistol n jeans". We stash our gear on a persistent server and then find jeans, trainers and a new spawn looking jacket. We put an fnx or cr75 in our jeans with spare ammo/clip in the jacket, and then head to a fresh spawn location. Key is not to have a backpack or a melee weapon on your back as people never then really see you as a threat. More often than not someone will come along, and hold us up, begin to start their toture routine and at that point we quickly whip out a pistol and pop them in the head. It's fun and worth trying sometime.

The crane at the construction site doesn't have a lot to offer. Don't worry about the airfield, if you're at Berezino then you should head to the top part of the main town and find the junk yard. There you'll find a backpack, some better clothes, food, and more importantly, a good selection of weapons (mosin, shotgun, sks, carbine, sporter etc). Go into some of the back gardens and find a splitting axe in the sheds. Get yourself fed and watered to light green energised and hydrated and wait until it says healthy. Loot the rest of the town until you find some ammo for the gun you found. Make sure you have spare food and drink before you leave Berezino, and then you can head west, and eventually you'll get to Vybor military base and the airfield. The sea is east, so run with the sea on your back. If you get lost keep running until you find a town and check the road sign, and then use a map to find out where you are. Keep an eye out for helicopter crashes. Spend hours getting that gear from the bases, find that assault rifle, clips and loads of ammo at the military tents in the west. Head south, loot another military base, and then loot balota airfield and then run into Cherno and get killed by a fresh spawn with a pickaxe. Welcome to Dayz

Indeed, you logged in too soon. After a reset the server takes a little while to restart. If you log in too soon, it wont be able to find your character data and will reset you. A lot of servers go through a couple stages at restart they say 8:00, then jump to 9:20 and then to whatever time the server is supposed to start at. As a rule never join a server that says 8:00 (wait til 8:01), 9:20 (wait til 9:21). It is usally safe to join once it says the correct server start time, but many people wait a further minute to be sure. This is why playing a small select group of servers is key, as you will know the start times, and when it is ok to join. You also need to make sure you're joining the same type of server. Almost every private server you join will create a new character for you. This doesnt wipe your other characters, it's just a new one for that server (and any slave servers connected to it). I recommend playing on a private server, it's more fun than public in my experience.

What do you think will be the lifeblood of this game?
lrp1984 replied to gankaskon's topic in General Discussion
Having to take a dump in game. Once that's implemented I think the game will be complete. -
My anaconda don't want none, unless it's DayZ hun. And that's all I have to say on the matter.

Although I agree that ping and frame rate doesn't play a huge part in it, I do agree with the guy saying that different servers have different levels of performance. Although it's not really down to ping, but more an issue around the performance of the server itself. As someone that has rented several DayZ SA servers there can be vast differences between the machines you get put on. The automated setup process most of the server providers use has a tendancy to put you on a machine that may not be appropriate for DayZ. Not all servers are created equal, and anyone renting a DayZ server that is not running smoothly should get in touch with their provider to discuss expectations. If you don't tell them there is a problem, they won't know, and won't ever fix it. You can have a ping under 20, but if the machine has not got the resources for DayZ then it'll always be clunky.

I've not had a report of a hacker since 0.53 rolled out, which is a good sign. With the death logs we can catch and ban a little easier too. -

8 hours of playing and 3 character resets later

Trucks have a few different bugs around them, so it's very unwise to log off within one. At present if you log off in a truck you will not log back into the truck. You will login at the last point you entered the truck. The mostly likely thing as previously stated is you got into that truck at NWAF, you then logged in and whilst you were at please wait your body appeared in the open at NWAF and someone shot you. The other possibility is you someone logged in underneath the truck, and got killed by the truck. Either way, next time, get out of the truck, and move a little away from it before you log off. Character wipes can happen if you join a server too quickly after a respawn, and if can happen if the server you're joining lacks resources. Sometimes when a server host has an automatic server setup in place it can lead to the dayz server being setup on a machine that is unable to handle it. This has happened to me twice, and the main problem has been issues with the game world not loading very quickly and causing wipes for people joining. Wipes happen but can be avoided if you know what to look out for. -
Find a whitelisted private hive and apply to join.

If you spawn on the beach, look down, press the action button to find a stone, then hold the stone in your hand and look down again and make an improvised knife. You can hold this in your hand when you punch the zombies and it'll do a little more damage, but still aim at the head. You can also use it to open tins and will get a good percentage, more than you'd get from an axe.

I couldn't agree more. Some people will kill on sight, that's part of the game. However most people you come across will talk if you try speaking to them, and say something more than just "friendly". If you're clever you can talk to other people without them knowing where you are exactly. If you don't have a mic, or have a really annoying voice, you can expect to get killed a lot. That's DayZ. If a group of bandits hold you up, then talk your way out of it, don't run away and get sprayed by bullets, and don't start swearing or being rude. Ask where they're from, be charming, be funny, and don't sound like a victim. Remember your foes are living, breathing human beings. You can usually tell quickly from their accent how things will go down. Of course there are snipers that will kill you without speaking, but that's just how they like to play, and you need to be pretty skilled at the game to be a decent sniper. There are however not that many places snipers actually hang out. People that snipe don't sit in a random spot and hope someone walks past. They go to popular cities or military areas, and will be positioned somewhere where they have a good view over a wide area. Most snipers are not that accurate hitting a moving target on the first shot, the game has too much desync for that, so they'll wait until you stand still. Getting chased by a zombie? Don't just stand in the open with your axe out to kill it if you're near hills, high rise apartments or factory buildings. Before you drink at that well, think about what raised areas have a shot on it. If you're not stood still, the first mosin shot at you will miss 90% of the time. You then run like a lunatic to cover.

Hang on, so because you don't like a certain way people play, you think they should go and play another game? That is an utterly rediculous argument. Killing other players is a fundamental part of this game. Do you honestly think the developers added dozens of types of guns for simply killing zombies or hunting deer? If you actually take a look at the game, you will see that it is in fact you that has the incorrect expectations, and the only real fool is you for playing a game that is completely at odds to what you want it to be. There are plenty of PVE games out there, and I would think they would be much better suited to you. DayZ is a PVP game, always has been, and judging from what the developers are adding each patch, always will be. However, if you do want to play your style of DayZ, then fortunately the developers have given you an option to do so. Get some friends together, pay for a private hive, whitelist it, and then go and play DayZ anyway you want. However on public/open private servers you will keep getting killed. If you think your playstyle is the majority, then you shouldn't have a problem finding enough people to sign up to make the cost of a server minimal. I regulary kill on sight but I would definately not be more at home on a game like Arma. Arma is a military simulator, with short term missions, teams and other crap like that. I've no interest in a game like that. I enjoy DayZ, I like the apocalyptic aspect of it, I like the map, I like the mixture of civilians and military gear, I like needing to keep food and drinks on me, and needing some waterproof clothes and having to keep warm. I like that I can have a character for a minute, or for months. I spend most of my game time with a group of what you would describe as bandits. I've forgotten when we last killed a freshly spawned player that wasn't trying to punch us out. We will usually talk in game first, and if a geared player surrenders, we very rarely kill them, we simply take their ammo and anything we need, and send them on their way.

So I was searching for Heli Crashes, and Found one....
lrp1984 replied to darkrider400's topic in General Discussion
Dude, you got lucky. I found a Heli crash and all it had was a couple M4's, 60 round clips, ACOG, FNX and clips and a few grenades. It was raining, and all I wanted was a raincoat! -
You just described an average day in DayZ for me. I'm hoping they allow us to hang flags on buildings one day so I can add the Rainbow flag to one of the bars in Berezino. You know lumber mill is the new Gaybourhood right?
