I've noticed bodies in the open despawn within 5 minutes since the hotfix. It depends where they are. In some buildings they don't despawn at all and remain until a restart.

You're likely not joining that many 1/30 public servers, or avoiding ones that have uninviting names.

Hi, I need to address this false assumption. Private hives are no more often the same people over and over than any public hive. People on public have their favorite 50/50 servers that they play on, and then randomly search for empty ones to server hop, their main play is usually on the same servers though. The same goes for private servers, except no server hopping. I run a non-whitelisted private hive, it's open for anyone to play on with no application process or anything like that, hundreds (maybe thousands, logs are biiiiig) of people connect every day. There are a handful of names I ever recognize, but to be honest, that's the same for any popular public hive. Only if you picked a community white-listed private hive will you play with the same people.

Your friend most likely died because he was kicked whilst the truck was moving. This happens sometimes if you lose connection whilst driving a truck. The admins are very unlikely to have been near you. Admins can talk in Global chat to the whole server. It's not just a matter of you should report them, you HAVE to report them, both you and your friend. Abuses of public servers like this is a real problem. If they want to pull crap like that, then they can pay the extra for a private hive and not ruin the item economy on public servers.

You need to give up on those automatic rifles :P

The corpse store always has a varied stock, 25% useful stuff, 75% why were they carrying this shit?

I think any kind of safe zone takes away from the spirit of the game. I already have a safe trading method. I shoot the person in the head and take what I need.

There has to be a police force and a means of reporting the murder for it to get into those calculations. Life is cheap in some places.

If I'm honest I think certain skills should be picked at character creation, and perhaps others honed or improved during game-play. Your character spawns as an adult, and therefore has a past behind them. Past careers to choose from could be; Soldier, Nurse/Doctor, Mechanic, Farmer, Engineer, Pilot (for when they add flight), Teacher, Office Worker, Unemployed bum and maybe a few more Each past career would effect the skills you have in game, and how proficient you are with them. I would like to see a system where each career takes a set amount of "survivor" points to use. Survivor points can be earned by how many hours you survive in-game on a particular character. Everyone starts as an unemployed bum with just base skills. If you die in less than an hour of spawning, you get points deducted.

There are some places in Africa where you can enjoy the DayZ in real life experience, but with real guns rather than airsoft. Plenty of "Bandits" and a lot of "KOS" in Somalia and the Congo.

To be able to ban it'd need to be a private hive server. So the traded goods would only be usable on that server. Seems kinda pointless.
-
Oh right, we're posting stuff that isn't in any way related to the topic now? Cool. I think they need to add more cooking ingredients into the game. Now Bananas are back I want to be able to make a banana fritter or banana split.

Loot is a little tricky, and there is quite a deal of chance in it. I run a popular 50 player private server, so no hoppers, there is a big turn around of players and plenty of visits to NWAF. However I ventured there earlier and found 5 SKS's in the tents and plenty of ammo. Of course it's possible the last few people to visit the tents had better guns and didn't need to loot an SKS, but seems unlikely. There seems to be certain structures that respawn a lot quicker than others. There is one small structure that if you remove everything from, it will refresh the loot within 30 seconds. Creating an almost endless supply of the loot that spawns there (gorka gear, vests, ammo, knifes, boots) I played another private server and in the space of a couple hours had a winchester, magnum (both with plenty of ammo) and suitable clothes and a supply of food without having to go near an army base. I get the impression loot is a lot less messed up on Private hives as less items being transferred into servers from elsewhere. I think people are server hopping a lot on public, and making camps. The guns seem to stay on the ground a lot longer than 3 days, seems to be weeks as items from patch day are still there where I left them without having been touched. So people are making camps and hiding guns in the trees on public, which means no new ones will spawn.

They're often not even visible on the floor (they're pretty small), so you're going to need to use tab in the sheds to spot them.

There are quite a few private hives, particularly in Europe, that have been around for some time. Mine has been going since January 17th (albeit with a couple IP changes, but no character wipe except official ones). If you play on a private hive it's best to make a note of their website, twitter/facebook and teamspeak so you can keep up to date if it goes down for any reason. The GSP's have a habbit of changing IP changes for routine maintenance. I would say the best in no particular order are: Or do what I did and get some friends together and create your own private hive!

One big fundamental flaw of the game. Character reset on joining new server.
lrp1984 replied to fetgalningen's topic in General Discussion
Indeed. I only play on one private server, that I own so I know when the restarts are, and this hasn't happened to me at all this year. -
It's almost certainly a bug, that particular spot next to the table in that house is notorious for desync killing you. I've witnessed a couple friends suddenly die when standing in pretty much the same spot.
-
I play without rules, morals or honour. It's worked out fine so far.

Similar shade of "black" as the raincoats then.

I think because there widely known ways to avoid it, it's not really a priority. It'll only happen if you rejoin a server too quickly after a restart. The more you change server, the more chance of it happening. Don't ever join a server with the time of 08:00 (refresh until it either says 8:01 or any other time that the server is set to) and you should be fine. Of course there are also a large number of people that didn't realise they'd logged into a private shard and then cry foul that they've been wiped. I run a server, and I'm always amazed at the number of people that rejoin immediately after a restart, at least 5 every time. -
Add an administrator to the server vilayer

You don't want to contact a technical support team who will be able to answer your question, but do want to write on a forum where people who most likely have no idea what the answer is will assist? Sound logic my friend. -
Hrmm, what game are you playing then?
-
I hope they add more spray paint colours. I'd like a florescent pink winchester.

As far as I'm aware the UMP is better for close range spray n praying.

My platoon were in cover in Helmand province, Afganistan, when we spotted an enemy patrol. We were waiting to ambush when Pvt Carter's stomach started to grumble, so he decided to use his knife to open a tin of beans he happened to have on him (spilling some as he did so I might add), and then proceeded to stand up and loudly gobble down the whole can. We took heavy casualties.
