I asked this same question in a Q&A a while back. Official response from @eugenharton Not saying plans haven't changed, because everybody changes there mind and approach at some point. But it does not look like it is going to be happening. The map additions that they often refer to regard adding towns, cities, and attractions to the existing land area such as the upcoming Tisy Military Base.

They've been reworking the animations and poses for quite some time now. I doubt they will be introduced until the new player character rework is done. I couldnt find the officially release video, so I had to settle for somebodys commentary. But if you are curious, here ya go: BONUS: Arm fractures - and falling-

In all honesty, this would take away from the realism of the game. I personally have never had a gun "false jam" on me when there is a good round in the chamber. Every time it has happened the round has been ruined. By introducing a mechanic that would allow you to complete FIVE actions (open inventory, remove mag, eject round, reload mag, close inventory) in a single keystroke takes out the entire purpose of having guns jam in the first place. Now, I'm not saying the jamming feature doesnt need work. It does, and I'm sure it is planned. But a simple shortcut key to do it is entirely the wrong solution IMO. @Killawife It depends on the specific type of firearm, but many IRL weapons do in fact make a "click" sound when you dry fire them. Usually it only happens one time after you fire your last round, but still... it happens. I do agree that the volume needs to be reduced a bit though, as you can hear the click from a great distance. .

HA! Amen brother! I typically don't post regarding updates, but I decided to poke my head in to agree with you on this one. Pretty much since the game came out it was just "Renderer? FPS? Optimization?" People havent even experienced the new patch yet and they are asking for more. If they read the status reports they can see exactly what has been completed, what is being worked on and what is up next. Personally, I dont think there is much of the impatient, greedy type in THIS thread specifically but the general discussions I have heard and read recently makes me wonder if they'll ever be happy. Hell, if people took the energy they use to complain and put 1/10th of it into actually reporting bugs, the Devs would be able to identify and fix problems at a much faster rate. The new rendering system looks amazing and the FPS gain is a gamechanger. I know it will be buggy on the first iteration but one thing I am curious to see is whether or not players will still "glow" from a distance. I cant tell you how many people I've seen and killed/avoided because there hands and face were shining bright in the trees from 500+m away. In the video, it was encouraging to see that the window frame on that one apartment in electro wasn't shining in dx11 like it was in dx9. Hopefully that trend continues! Cant wait for the new patch! -

Hey everybody! Everybody knows the 0.60 patch should be coming out soon. Hopefully everybody knows that there will be a wipe along with it. Since our community has put so much time into gathering gear on our private hive we didnt want it to go to waste. We decided to load up all the trucks and head to Novo where we will be hosting a Hunger Games style event. Best of all, everybody is invited! So if you are interested in taking part in this massive event, please read below! DayZ Hunger Games! Day: Saturday March 12, 2016 Time: 3:00pm EST, 8:00pm GMT Server: TAW.net Private Server Password: will be announced on day of event Basics: Food and water will be provided. We will be operating inside the city of Novodmitrovsk (See below) PHASE 1: https://goo.gl/Yk8YTg PHASE 2: https://goo.gl/n2GcNd PHASE 3: https://goo.gl/PVWdcJ / https://goo.gl/Qj7vyr PHASE 4: https://goo.gl/HTUqpK / https://goo.gl/8XH1mI PHASE 5: https://goo.gl/HKVUCA / https://goo.gl/QnV6mW PHASE 6: Inside the fence surrounding the courtyard of Novo Tower. The server will be locked from now until the event ends. Event will be held on the TAW Private Server and will require a password to join. Once the event begins, all players are only to use in-game communications. You may team up with another player, but must ONLY use in game chat throughout the event. NO Respawns. Once you die you will be asked to leave the server. If you refuse you will be banned. Last player standing is the winner. Event Specifics: You must show up as a fresh spawn and be wearing nothing but your shoes when the event begins. We will open the server to all participants approximately 2 hours before the event begins to allow you to transit. Vehicles will be traveling from Solnichny to Novo. Gear will be dumped in a central area and everybody will spread out evenly in a circle around it. When the event begins, you can choose to rush the middle to get a head start or you can run away from the chaos that will happen immediately. All participants must remain within the pre-determined boundaries or face disqualification. Novo Tower, all tents, and all vehicles in the area are OFF LIMITS at all times and should not be entered. Hidden stashes and their locations will be announced periodically throughout the event. When the number of participants start to decrease, the Area of Operation will shrink. There will be multiple phases, and upon announcement you will have 10-15 minutes to move into the condensed area. If you do not make it you will be disqualified. The area will continue to decrease in size as time progresses to keep the competition interesting and to discourage camping. ANY RULE BREAKERS WILL BE BANNED FROM THE SERVER SIGN UP HERE: Event Over Since we have limited space, and we expect there to be more interest than the server can hold we are asking everybody to REGISTER for the event. At the time of this posting, we have around 15 slots available. We may not be able to take everybody who signs up, but we will go through the list and reach out to as many people as we can possibly fit in. Ahhh I see! What did you think of think of the event? Anything you would change? We are planning on hosting another Hunger Games in the near future and constructive feedback is much appreciated. I was going to try and do more detailed stats such as Most blood damage, Shock Damage, Most time unconscious, most hits, etc but it is extremely tedious to manually put together that information from the log file. Hopefully by then I can remember how to use VB and make a small program that can pull that information for me (or maybe the developers will *hint hint nudge nudge*). -

Go to your task bar and on the bottom right click on the Speaker icon. Go to recording devices and select your Webcam and click "Set Default". Next, right click your webcam mic and select properties. Go to levels and make sure it isn't turned all the way down. Depending on your Mic, 100% could be too loud so try 75% and test it. If its an acceptable volume click apply and ok. Close out of the window. Let me know if that helps :)

Throwing stuff works similar to firing a bow. You have to hold the button down to wind up. The longer you hold it, the farther you will throw (up to a certain point).

That still doesnt resolve the fact that they are in separate files for each server reset. It is extremely frustrating when you are trying to deal with issues that happened on separate days, or even across resets. Unless you can access a single log, or even a weekly log it is still a pain :( I am using Fragnet like Square, and they have the same issue with the logs being separated by reset. The logs are all there, but there are so many of them it makes it extremely tedious to track down problematic players.

Well thats kind of an odd statement. Do they mean the game itself would be too difficult for a new player? If thats the case, there would be no new players at all and the game wouldnt exist. You'll get the hang of it eventually. The biggest hurdle is navigating the map and being able to figure out where you are. If they meant due to your PC specs, I think you will be fine. Like Mos1ey said, you will need to tweak some of the settings and such to run smoothly but I'm sure you weren't planning on running all settings on Ultra anyway :) If you do the minimum settings you should be just fine, and there are some config files you can tweak as well for an extra boost. [TAKEN FROM DAYZTV's FPS and PERFORMANCE GUIDE] Configuration Files The following tweaks were found online and really helped with getting my FPS higher. First off locate the below file under the below location. C:\Users\yourname\Documents\DayZ\DayZ.cfg and change the following options: GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; Save the file. Next up locate the following location: C:\Users\yourname\Documents\DayZ\your_dayz_profile\your_dayz_profile.DayZProfile Set the following options : mouseSmoothing=0; – Optimal. This should help sort out mouse acceleration problems sceneComplexity=150000; – This number affects your object details. shadowZDistance=100; – This is the distance at which shadows are drawn. viewDistance=1600; – This number affects the distance view (trees, grass etc…). preferredObjectViewDistance=1000; – This will affects the distance that the objects will be drawn.

That was an epic distraction and a nice shot by Ozzy in the first part of the video. Turan said "guns", stopped like the guy asked, then BOOOOM! Dropped like a sack of bricks! Amazing teamwork throughout. Nice job guys!

We jumped on our home server as soon as it restarted and gathered all the trucks. We moved to the coast and had an armed escort of 20 guys run along side. Sadly, our operation got cut short by an invisible hacker who was pulling the gear off of our scout teams and then killing them but it was still a blast. Very well organized group operation by our TAW.net brethren, and we will be doing it again soon. EDIT: One of our guys uploaded some of the gameplay. This is the beginning of the op. Sadly, we didn't make it much further than what the end of the video showed as our sniper team in the town up ahead came in contact with the hacker. :(

Exactly what he said for the driving part. Using the shift key does use 25% more fuel while holding it though, so I only use it to make sure I hit top speed before and during a hill climb. And for HOW we got the trucks, pretty much exactly what you said. We had two guys checking the eastern spawns and about 6 more checking the western ones. Once we found one, we used it to find the next and so on. The eastern spawn points took the longest as those are spread far and thin, but we managed to get all 5 trucks about 30 minutes after restart. -
Hey man, lookin' good so far. But there is just a couple things wrong with your screenshots preventing them from being perfect. -Your aspect ratio is a bit off. Unless you have a square monitor you should not be using 4:3. You should instead use 16:9 or 16:10 depending on the size. -Also, make sure your resolution is set to your current system resolution. Mine is currently 1920x1080 on my system, so I set it for 1920x1080 in game. There are two different resolution settings and they should both be set to your system resolution. Try tweaking those two settings in game and lets see the results :)
