  1. I love how the word to describe people who are ignorant of understanding the meaning of the word 'ignorant' are just that, ignorant. ;) Oh and, good post by the way.
  2. search for them yourself don' just get a spoiler for everything in the game.
  3. I read several posts near the start of the thread and am happy that many people enjoy a harder game with more difficult zombies because that's what DayZ is all about. We all (mostly!) know what DayZ is meant to be, and we most defintely do not want to nerf it because of either newbies or long term bambies at large - which I am glad the developers are aware of. What I guess I'm trying to say is, there will always be differing opinions on the difficulty of DayZ, some whine and others rejoice but at the end of the day, players shouldn't be looking at mechanics in the game and thinking of the developers to blame for making it like that, but instead should be.. well immersing into the game and imagining it was real (if that is possible!) - and so the player deals with difficult problems that arise in the game without getting stroppy at poor gameplay design decisions. In real life you can't really say, aww God, why do we have to sleep for a whole 8-9 hours!?!? (Not that I believe in God).
  4. I am sure this has been mentioned before in this 30 page thread but... I think temperature should have a larger role in the game; you shiver and shake after a long time of exposure - at the end of the night/early morning (this is when the environment temperature is the lowest). This means the right clothing is needed. Even with normal clothing if someone is staying still or not running that much, they will get very cold. I suggest to introduce multiple types of clothing (although I've seen this in the dev blog video a few weeks back) - large coats keep you warm, thinner t-shirts and shorts let you be cold.
  5. I don't mind Black Mesa not being the winner, because everyone knows how great a development team they are, and how unbelievable awesome their work was, it can go unsaid. DayZ is something truly new and great on the scene, and that is why I believe it managed to win. Congratulations.
  6. I recommend you play on veteran or expert servers. They are not particularly more harder, it's just they are more fair and make the game more fun. For instance, if someone with a sniper is on a hill 500 meters away and he moves his mouse around and see's a name tag of you or your friend, he will kill you, whereas in veteran and expert there is not name-tag so he would have to actually see you in order to try and shoot you. Although, this means you can't see other's nametags, but name-tags are much more important for bandits than people like you. Good luck, have fun.
  7. I agree. As for the people saying they always see backpacks along the beach, everyone spawns a backpack beneath them, including yourself.
  8. It would be nice to have more servers for other maps like Namalsk.
  9. Yeah I dropped painkillers on the ground, it was fine, then I targeted it and dropped a DMR onto it (I clicked the drop button) and the DMR disappeared. It is an enigma attempting to work out how to move loot around your inventories without making things disappear. My loot always disappears e.g. I spawn in Namalsk swimming ON the ground, if after a couple of minutes I am not on land, I lose all of my main inventory items and my ammo for pistol too...
  10. Very nice. It would be nice to fix bugs such as randomly dying while prone and moving on *slightly* jegged terrain... one time I broke my legs going through a *slightly* jagged step through a doorway. Recently, I had built the best loot, had the most zombie kills in the server and was prone moving on sand (Panthera) next to the sea... sand isn't flat, so it decided to brake my legs, rip most of my blood out and fling me out into the sea where I died very soon thereafter. Infact, I would prefer this.. and any other similar bugs were to be fixed.. more than introducing dogs!

    Map Ideas

I disagree. A lot. What I loved about experiencing a new map was the fact that I had never seen the above map, and very few screenshots. Running, trying to find your way in a completely new place is what I enjoyed on my first playthrough of Panthera. The different trees and buildings and landscape was wonderful. Why you would want to spoil that is beyond me. Why don't you just watch youtube videos of people playing? The whole point is that you are new to the place, and must work from nothing to the top. You must learn the map from scratch - if you are not a child and are not pretty dumb. The fact that you get annoyed at it being hard for you is confusing; why are you playing dayz, it is not meant to be easy - and you certainly shouldn't be get annoyed by a basic aspect of it. There ARE ways to work out your direction from the environment. I do not know why this is making me annoyed. Please explain why it would make it more realistic again, your last paragraph seems to make no sense to me.
  12. My humanity is bugged. So, sometimes im sprinting as a bandit, then it teleports me into water and changes my skin/model so I look like a normal survivor, often, it makes me sprint way faster. I thought this was because it resets everything (it always resets my backpack (I will report this bug when tested some more)) as the heavy breathing stops and my gun doesnt shake in 1st person. And yes, one day I was chasing someone for a long time, and he never slowed down, he was always slightly faster than me even when I double tapped W (I doubt he was doing this as he seemed a little noobie; I had a marakov, chasing him, he had an ak74 and was too scared to even try to shoot me until ages down the road).
  13. Isn't it strange the 2 people who want to make hacking legal, have pictures of weird, fat men licking their nipples as their avatar. Trolls? Yes. Guys, are we ready to ignore them, and stop feeding them? Yes Let's leave this thread for dead? Please
  14. Yes, remove it. If you bring it back, I suggest not allowing it to penetrate walls or large objects (that reduces the problem of blockading the firestation and those small residential buildings and the office in elektro. In the open, it is fine.
  15. In locked private servers, where you must be whitelisted, it is far less likely there will be hackers, right? Well, I guess it depends on how often an admin is in the server to ban them from that server. Either way, I am not going to play this game for 2 months, hopefully there will be less hackers then, recently hacking has been really bad for me (there never used to be many hackers). Well, good luck, have fun and goodbye.
  16. Haha I hope this guy is joking or trolling. Your logic DOES NOT WORK.
  17. The first time I got killed, I ran to a lighthouse, where someone was waiting in the door and shot me. Several deaths later, I realised you couldn't trust anyone. Now I shoot on site. You know, I could easily stay alive for weeks, with full equipment, ghillie, gps, nvg's etc. in the north, we have a camp and plenty of vehicles. I used to do that, but now I do not. I purposefully roam the cities and high risk areas. Why would you wan't to do the former? It is fun, and the adrenaline is good :D My goal is to get as many kills as possible. It is a plus when they have good equipment. When you die, you can just re-spawn, find a lee enfield, shoot a coward and take their better guns and equipment.
  18. Standalone, so, I assume this makes it easier to develop? Do you get extra control of the engine or something?
  19. I still get graphical glitches. I think they were coming from the dead bodies.
  20. AS50 - quite, deadly at a distance. M4a1 CCO SD - silenced, deadly close range. Also, good for wiping out zombies without attraction. Coyote Backpack - keep lots of stuff. M1911 - Lots of damage for a pistol, ammo found everywhere. Lots of ammo for the bigger weapons, just to make sure I don't run out. 1 bloodbag, 2 or 3 morphine, atleast 2 painkillers, atleast 3 bandages, 2 in my main inventory, the rest in backpack. 1 or 2 waterbottles, some meat, maybe 3 or 4 (depending on space). A canned food or 2. I like to have atleast 2 free spaces in my main inventory so I can easily work the inventory when picking up items etc.
  21. Should do, you might spawn on the beach but you should still have your equipment.
  22. Well, I just died. Spawned on northern hill over elektro, I had ghillie, NVG, rangefinder, AS50, m4a1 CCO Silenced, coyote backpack, gps. 3 seconds into spawning, I got shot, one shot and I was dead. Fuck sake.
  23. It varies in interval, let's say half an hour to 2 hours: I get sudden extreme lag. This lag makes everything about 3 frames per second, I am unable to play. To fix it, for some reason I can just go to video settings and change quality (e.g. if on Low then to Very Low), it refreshes it (goes black and loads or something) then it is not laggy. Otherwise it will just stay at this constant lag forever. I use Arma2: Free, if that makes any difference. It is annoying because I just died from a zombie hoard because of it. Thanks.
  24. Hi. The really bad thing is I can't remember the server name.. Here is what happened: We were running, then we heard horns, like from a Ural. Text came up on the screen, something like: Weapons are in ammo crates, fight to the death... there were 3 of us, my mates disconnected immediately, I realised I had all my equipment gone (apart from my ghillie suit).. so I ran to an ammo crate and picked up a sniper, then someone shot at me, broke my bone (I think I could still walk, and my blood was still quite high). Then I decided to disconnect from the server. In another server, my nightvision goggles, rangefinder, pistol and main weapon was gone (although my backpack and main inventory were fine). Although I had the sniper I picked up. My two mates who disconnected instantly still had everything.. I believe it was the admins of the server controlling this, not hackers... Has anyone else had this happen to them, and is there any way of knowing which server could have done this. We were running around for about 5 or 10 minutes before this happened.
