Do you just kill anyone you don't know?

It's all part of the experience we have all gone through.

Will anyone else play KOS in SA when it comes out?

Well like in the DayZ mod, I will start off testing my optimism and not shoot players until I learn that others shoot you first, then I will start KOS and everything will be fine. If people don't KOS then well that could also be fun.
  4. There are far too many of these servers.

    I have a bounty, wanted - alive.

Clever clever eel but how can you prove you haven't just made an account called Mayhem_DayZ?

DayZ Alpha won't launch until launched !

Alpha generally means testing by the developers or a small group that is not external. Beta would then mean released to us, the major player base for testing and we give feedback. Therefore I want to know when they will release the beta, or do they use the terms arbitrarily?

    Crafting, why not building?

Again resources for barricades could be rare so that there are loads of barricades everywhere. However, wouldn't it be annoying if you were getting shot at and you run to the nearest build, say a cafe in Cherno and it turns out the door is boarded up and then you get shot in the open.

    Cant understand KOS moaners :s

The skin makes very little difference to how people play and how people should play. Yes, with a bandit skin, survivors and heros are going to KoS you, and often newbie bandits don't shoot you if you have a survivor skin (bugged). However, the majority of the time, whether bandit or survivor, people try to kill me (whether they are survivor or bandit and whether I am survivor or bandit, the majority still try to kill you). Therefore, I try to kill them before they kill me - leading to my bandit skin. Even unarmed players I kill due to the fact that they can easily still be a threat (if near possible gun spawns). I really don't see anything wrong with KoS. The people complaining are just immature and need to learn how to deal with their emotions, or actually learn how to stay alive despite everyone trying to kill them (as the OP suggested). Punishing bandits would be incredible; gameplay factors would be being messed with which don't even make sense. Actually, it SEEMS although I am not entirely sure, that bandits are slightly slower than survivors - meaning it is impossible to stalk players when you can't get a decent shot (I know people might get pissed off for some reason with this... serious what is the problem, it's a game). - Restricting gameplay. If survivors don't have to look around and behind them (with alt) incase a bandit has seen them or is following them, then how is that improving gameplay. It's OK for the survivors to be stalked, it adds to the tension... but it seems this is impossible unless you spawn with survivor skin (which often happens due to bugged humanity).

    is there a way to...

Actually you are, right I guess it is easy to work out whether someone is a bambie or not and therefore if you kill it, you are not as skillful as killing a veteran. This reminds me actually, just the other day I hunted two bambies (who had guns), running from Elektro to Cherno. I lost them for a good 5 minutes TWICE. However, I managed to get ontop of that mountain and I saw them at the bottom running to cherno. Bang bang bang, they were clearly bambies and did not know how to react, because they hit the deck and only 1 shot was fired in my general direction.. I didn't think I could kill both of them at that distance but a.) I really didn't wanna lose them again and b.)they didn't react very well. Anyway, you are learning the game? Aww how about we hold your hand and help you through this world carefully. Look, it's not like a mother teaching a child about the world. Some people want to do that, but frankly, not me, and that is REASONABLE. I used to try to learn the mechanics of the game; 1) work out basics of the engine using the arma 2 tutorial missions. 2) play dayz The whole point of the game is to learn how to survive despite the apocalyptic, fucked up world you are in, in the game. Bambies don't get special treatment for being bambies, they are still survivors that others wish to play with (considering, this is the game). Oh and, as I hinted at above, you can't tell if a player is an arrogant newbie such as yourself - so what's the problem? Maybe you need some pink text floating above your head to say, DON'T SHOOT THIS NEWBIE and an arrow? Again, I love how you think they are griefers. Yeah... they are out to ruin your day.... how self absorbed are you? I don't go to newbie servers because people like YOU hang out there; whiny, self entitled little kids who can't accept that this game is hard and maybe they shouldn't blame other players. All you want is a trampoline with a big-ass net all the way around, god-forbid, you might fall off! I have NEVER gone to newbie specific servers infact, even when I was learning like you. Well, not LIKE you because I dealt with the game differently when I was learning. Yes, you learn you cannot trust anyone! And that is what makes your heart beat like crazy when you see someone. You are the type of kiddo that populates these 3000 vehicle, 50 chopper, more loot, self-bloodbag, custom bases, recruit difficulty (don't forget the name-tags), extra barracks joke of a servers. How 'pathetic', If you want someone to hold your hand, find an individual such as a friend who has played dayz before (he will most likely have taught himself without whining like you do), so he can teach you. But don't expect everyone in the server to stop playing game, just so that you can 'learn' how to play. There are a lot of people learning how to play dayz and become good at it, and I assure you, with your attitude, you will never get anywhere near being good. It takes experience, if you played and accepted that the game IS hard, you would over time learn how to play. Infact, this was the most enjoyable part of the experience for me- yet it seems the opposite for you, because you just. don't. get it.

Who would like to see the map Chernobyl, Ukraine on DayZ?

The coast of Chernarus is based off of a river, they decided to make it a sea instead of a river so that the map had a reasonable edge instead of plains all around.

Who would like to see the map Chernobyl, Ukraine on DayZ?

This is the perfect setting for DayZ, why didn't I think of this before? :P

    is there a way to...

I love how these bambies pass it off as a game built for griefers. Yeah and the real world is a world built for psychopaths, why not go and cry in a corner?

    Third person idea

They are very cheap, meaning yes they reflect the world but in ultra low resolution. Check out an ArmA 3 vehicle youtube video or something.

    Sandbag Stash

A server I was on said they were bugged in that they were removed on server restart, although that may have been for that particular private server. Unluckily this was the server I found 2 sandbags on. Anyone get this problem?

wil this laptop run dayz on low settings

Yes that laptop will run DayZ on low settings without too many frame drops. The other person is plain wrong. I have tested DayZ on two systems, one worse and the other better than that laptop and I can tell you if you can't get decent frames on low settings you can choose very low or keep it low and untick post processing and some other settings. Infact you could probably play medium if you tailor the settings such as post processor and anti-aliasing until you get decent frames/second and nice graphics. You could upgrade your processor though, edit: oh great I misread the graphics card yeah you might want to upgrade that too.

    Third person idea

And so would a lot of us but some of us are willing for a compromise because many people still want to be able to see their positioning and to drive cars in third person but without the clearly unfair wallhack of being able to see someone on the other side of a wall without them seeing you (and vice versa, so that other people can't see where you are without you even having a chance of seeing them). Them cabbages always waking me up in the middle of the night with them loud noises! Arh!!

    "Hardcore" gameplay.

Search 'RU 68' and choose the Harcore1/2 server. I get 100 ping in NW Europe and it really depends on your location. However I noticed a couple of extra deerstands, this server is mostly the hardcore vanilla dayz with these exceptions. Search 'Day-z.pl' for a mercenary (hardcore) Polish server. Although there are several custom bicycle spawns in villages at the coast. Again, it is still the real dayz experience without 3rd person etc. The bicycles actually make the game a hell of a lot more fun because they are not too OP and get reset every server restart (to the coast) so you can't keep it forever. The other vehicles do not get reset. This server however does have quite a bit more custom things such as a firestation in Zelenogorsk but as I said before it is still the dayz experience.

    [SA] Shooting in the vehicles.

The windows therefore should have controls to wind up or down. Winding them down would reduce protection for those inside, particularly for armoured vehicles such as the humvees.

Do You Regret Anything You Have Done In DayZ?

Yes I had a searing feeling of guilt once. I saw a guy in elektro firestation shooting zombies (he had quite a lot of kit) I had a hatchet out. I decided to put it in my toolbelt 'cus I knew there were all these people whining about killing unarmed players. I preceded to run towards him, he talked to me in direct chat, protecting me from a load of following zombies. I had a bigger backpack on me so I decided to tell him he could have it. I dropped it on the ground, he leaned down to try and pick it up. I ran behind him, took out my hatchet and killed him. Finally, in direct chat, he said "Arhh you fu-" then he died. His tone of voice was so distressing, I felt incredibly guilty. Even now I feel like saying sorry. I guess he learnt that day to trust no-one, not even unarmed players.

[DZwT] Hero Captured (me) for Bandit Quiz!

So badass. Nice self defence article too. It would have been a real favourite if you had escaped but nevermind, DayZ doesn't always have a happy ending. Deep down I would want to be a hero but my way of survival is to be a bandit...
