First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
[email protected] replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That makes no sense; you could be walking 'tactically' along a wall (because 3dp influences gameplay/tactics) but still be at a disadvantage from another wall that you are not near. There is still a tactical disadvantage, you said there is none. Are you seriously saying there are no situations where you are at a disadvantage due to 3dp even if you moved close to some wall, eh? Even if you have 3dp, there is no way to move any decent distance without being spotted by another person exploiting 3rd person, 3dp on: safest is going as close as possible to the corner and [ab]using the periscope effect yes, it's safe to know what's around the corner when using 3rd person. That's nice, what about the person around the corner? (I get the feeling you will say they should be close, around the corner, using 3rd person - otherwise they are not being tactical). -
First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)

In DayZ, I find that the vast majority of servers are 3DP:ON, extra cars, self bloodbag etc. some start with weapons, basically a deathmatch game on a massive map... Recently I found DayZero - now I know where all of the players go. I was just playing a server with 65 slots and 60 players, and it was a 3DP:OFF server. To be fair, the majority of their servers were 3DP:ON, but this is similar to the vanilla dayz experience and there are a hell of a lot of players (many 60 player servers, full). I think if 3rd person was removed from standalone, a few people would whine, as expected, but a lot of people would be thinking, great, now I can play First Person without a disadvantage. The thing about 3rd person is that we've had it for so long, people have used it to not be disadvanted, and have gotten used to it. It takes a little while to get used to first person if you have constantly used 3rd person, but in a 1st person server, the gameplay is far more intense - and fair. How many people have been running near a firestation or hospital only for someone exploiting (well actually now it's acceptable to do this) 3rd person to pop up from the rooftop and shoot you? edit: There is a tactical disadvantage because someone could be camping behind a wall while you are running along (even if you are not in an open area), and they can know where you are without actually getting LOS, but you can't see them, because you are too far away from the wall, for example. -
Aren't they going to implement radios with different frequencies anyway? This would a far more immersive way of communication in game.

A nice suicide location tip for if you spawn at three valleys or near there at krutoy cap: In three valleys village by the coast, find a broken tank behind some buildings by the beach, vault (when you step over a fence) between the large turret at the front and the main part of the tank, there is a very high chance of breaking legs and extreme blood loss.

and... hacker, crushed by castle walls, spawning inside mi-8 heli after getting out, elektro dock super jump (and fall), infection, knocked out by rogue zombie at near full health for 20 minutes, knocked into wall of death by zombie, committing suicide (usually on the infamous 'Suicide Bridge' in Kamenka, as it is known to locals), flipping the atv sky high at Solnichniy bridge, loss of internet connection while flying a helicopter, and last but not least - dying instantly, unexplainably, for no bloody reason whatsoever. The Arma2 engine, and Dayz, is one of the buggiest damn games I have ever come across. I don't doubt Arma3 is not full of bugs.

1.7.7.1 cloning glitch.
[email protected] replied to Microbicus's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I want to reply but I agree we don't need some whining thread, this will be off topic but never-mind. I agree the patch has been hard to deal with, mostly the incredibly high infection rate and low antibiotics spawn rate (and loot spawn rate in general). However, I have still managed to adapt to it and have a *little* bit of fun from it here and there, but I agree with you, the patch has ruined many aspects of DayZ I used to love. On the other hand, I believe the problem is in the fact that there are little to no full servers to play vanilla dayz (or similar), literally there is maybe 10 ridiculous 500 car servers, self bloodbag to 1 standard dayz server, and that 1 server has 4 people in it. Maybe it is because people like you are playing the old patch? That's a good idea, I might revert in a bit. I play on a server with 30 players each evening, it has a few custom buildings, e.g. barracks at NEA, and I find that more enjoyable, because it is still the normal dayz with some extras. That is the only private, decent server I can find. There is maybe 1 more but it is a russian server. This is after MyDayZ closed (the best game servers we ever had, who are now waiting for standalone to possible restart their servers). -
AK not going into backpack with 12 empty slots
[email protected] replied to kander's topic in New Player Discussion
It would help if weapons didn't disappear when you put them into a backpack without enough slots. That's kinda a major bug we have had for a VERY long time. -
DayZ is draining at first...but it's fun.

In 5 days you can have a heli, NVGs, ghillie suit, nice sniper, nice primary etc. That is if you are really lucky, but also if you know what you are doing. Often groups store tents far north. If you find/repair a vehicle and know the location of a broken heli. You can find the parts and store in the vehicle, then when finally done looting repair the heli. Hide the vehicle and then fly around in the north looking for urals or tents. That is, move the time/effort of finding a rare sniper or NVGs from yourself onto others. It is easy to get loot if you kill others too. :D But uh yeah that's what I did. Hopefully the heli won't get stolen too. I also managed to trade with a couple of bandits, antibiotics. I am a bandit myself soo... yeah we are not all evil. That requires side chat. I believe it's 360 respawns. (24hours*60minutes*5dayz)/20minutes = 360 something like that.... xD -
Getting DayZ to work is depressing for the first time. I hope you don't get into problems.
-
Hey it works both ways. When I think of the people who namecall bandits. I think of newbies who have a distorted view of DayZ after watching too much frankie videos and playing dayz for a day to get killed a few times. Are they not childish, care-bear newbies?
-
At first I found the infection rate really difficult to deal with. However, I now know to not get any single zombie, and I now rarely do - this is more realistic too. I have also done several trades (my first) these last few days, 2 trades included me getting antibiotics. I found about 3 antibiotics. A total of 5 antibiotics. I gave one to a friend in need (who used it but subsequently died). I used 3 and have 1 remaining in my vehicle..... at first the patch was god awfully difficult and I doubted I would play, yet the last few days have been great!

Looking for bandits

What type of server is it. -
The reason you sound like a girl is probably because you are 14. Sorry.

With the new patch, now you can't ever get hit by a zombie or you will get infected in a couple of hits if its from an infected zombie (I think these are the ones with blood stains on their front). If you get infected you start coughing so everyone around can hear you, and they will shoot you (don't trust anyone as everyone else said). Also it drains your blood slowly until you die, over time. Eat food to regain lost blood from the infection. Only eat one food item at a time. When the up arrow goes back down on your blood icon, can can eat another food item. Do not eat more food if the blood level is full, even if you are hunry (unless it is blinking), wait until you lose some blood before eating. Sounds like you haven't played the game yet. You don't have to kill people you see, you could also run away. This is unless you have a death wish ('giving them a chance'),

New server! bounty if you join in 2 hours from now!
[email protected] replied to SwedishViking's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
There are not enough full/high populated vanilla, non 3rd person (defintely no player tag) servers. I don't like playing empty servers... There are a shitload of full servers with retarded settings like 50 helis, 500 cars,, extra barracks, beginw ith winchester and mountain dew etc... really starting to piss me off. As for your server, it hints at being the second type of server I said above. -
A Noobie's Impression and comments
[email protected] replied to dicemanrick's topic in New Player Discussion
Empty can's would have to be kept upright if you filled them with water. just use a water bottle, you can find them in the game. The only reasonable thing you said was that zombies glitch though walls sometimes, yeah that sucks. -
Does DayZ's player killing simulate real life authenticly?
[email protected] replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No not like in Dayz, but there would be a death toll of kills from other people that would rise steadily over the months after a zombie apocalypse but plenty of them would be friendly fire. -
Last time I saw something like this, the main account (i.e. the one you are using to post the above message) didn't get banned, only the others. You'll be fine.

I really dislike this idea. It works in Don't Starve because that is quite a fun whimsical, unreal game. If you heard gun shots that are not there because you are 'insane' (an arbitrary status that actually doesn't make any realistic sense), it would be messing with the gameplay far too much; hearing is probably just as important as sight in DayZ. + many of the other suggestions just make it very far fetched.

The Importance of the Humanity System in Maintaining a Healthy Player Base

Yeah I agree with the above post, they seem to focus so much on animations because people whine about it too much. I actually don't care if the reloading of a gun isn't realistic or if a zombie doesn't look awesome when animating. In terms of animation, all I care about is the gameplay aspects; if you kill a zombie they shouldn't take 1 second to run forwards and then drop to the ground. I however disagree that you just need to add more weaponry to make a better game, often, less is more. Although the existing weaponry could be tweaked, there is enough of a variety.

You can find tin cans everywhere so why even ask? You enjoy being a spy fair enough but why the tin cans.

Will anyone else play KOS in SA when it comes out?

An alternative is just to make your body invisible to you but no-one else. -
