They have yet to sort out the zombie AI but there was a devblog which described a new zombie pathing system where zombies do not avoid collisions but run straight towards the player or something. Anyway that should be released with the standalone.

Using lee enfield for zombies will just attract more zombies and players. When you hear many lee enfield shots in elektro it's either a pvp deathmatch or some newbie in the restaurant upstairs shooting zombies (and then dies after using all of their ammo). -

People can keep their DayZ mods such as Epoch and keep modding them while standalone DayZ is unmoddable - it's not like when standalone comes out all of these mods like Epoch will not be allowed to exist. -

DayZero has a real day night cycle although im not sure if they still have the lunar cycle. Often there are populated night time servers for DayZero too. -

DayZero is like vanilla DayZ but without all the bullshit and with some cool amendments/additions. Basically if you wanna play PvP then choose DayZero. If you wanna piss about and have fun in a less serious way choose epoch. Vanilla DayZ is probably reasonably good now that 1.8 came out but the previous big updates nearly ruined it. -

Usually zombies are there to kill you after you faint and/or have been shot once in the leg or something. E.g. at 100% health, someone shoots your arm and you bleed, you run behind cover to bandage and a zombie hits you (or you shoot the zombies and more come) and knocks you unconscious and then they eat you and you die. That really sucks. -

Bandits and survivors shoot me, regardless of my skin or theirs.... This is how I became a bandit. Although to be fair, survivors have a slightly lower chance of trying to kill you if you also have the survivor skin. Either way, when you get the bandit skin, there is no way back (unless you make someone bleed and bloodbag them repeatedly multiple times which is just bullshit) - meaning the only way to survive then is to kill survivors and bandits because you can be sure both will shoot on site. -

The helicopter remains skidding until the rotors have stopped moving entirely. Even a tiny slope can cause it to get tangled in trees and explode (even after you stop the engine because it keeps sliding at the same speed for a long time). -

Just play DayZero, there is a decent amount of action throughout the entire map and it is generally a lot more fun than DayZ vanilla. -

Is it possible to remove the spacebar from the keyboard? If so you could do that and then remove any dirt that could be blocking it, then replace it. Removing the key can damage it so be careful. I would test another keyboard, do you have any family or friends with keyboards who would let you try? If it turns out the other keyboard works you probably need a new keyboard. Otherwise it is a software error. -

Hello. I see grass sticking out is removed after a certain distance for optimization purposes. When players are hidden in tall grass they might think they are hidden but they are an easy target in an open field. Maybe a compromise could be to render grass through a scope e.g. if a DMR is scoped on a hill in the distance, even if it is far away, render grass (client side) in the scope but nowhere else. I assume this would be difficult to program and maybe could also create an optimisation issue if too much grass is rendered.

If you look for someone in the distance and they are in relatively tall grass, even if their head is sticking out, they are still far harder to spot than if there was no grass at all. -

Hardly, because of all of the negative points third person brings. And the fact that lack of first person would be ultra silly in a game like this. And that you need to go into first person to aim down the ironsights. -

He wants the 3rd person (preference) players to buy the standalone, therefore he will try to pander to them but give a compromise to everyone else - so we all buy the game. This is understandable. If he removed 3rd person, i'm sure there would be quite a few angry kids. I really want it removed, but it's not the end of the world as long as there are 1st person servers with players. If the majority of people who prefer 1st person, play on 3rd person servers, it's our fault and we don't deserve 1st person servers. The thing with the current DayZ is I can't find any private (less hackers) vanilla servers with many players in, let alone 1st person servers. DayZero has many good servers so I recommend that for anyone who wants to play Vanilla DayZ with 1st person servers and plenty of players (it's not vanilla but it doesn't have 500 helicopters or any of that crap, it's still similar to the vanilla dayz experience). -

When people get used to 3rd person, it takes effort to only use 1st person, which is why when someone plays a 3rd person server, they can't deal with being restricted to 1st person and so join the 3rd person server. Personally, I had to get used to 1st person after deciding to play on 1st person servers (cus people kept popping up on a roof and shooting me or behind a tree or rock, without me even knowing they were there, and then killing me) and I got used to it quite quickly. Since other people don't seem to make this small effort, the majority of servers allow both 1st and 3rd (maybe admins want more players so allow both, who knows?) meaning I also join 3rd person servers, because they are full - which is more fun than a 1st person near empty server. In reality i'm not talking to the person im quoting, I am talking to everyone else in the thread, because I know he won't actually take what I said in. -
