Yep, enjoyed my first campfire tonight near all my shiiiiiiit. It was awesome.

Alright, found out something interesting as to what was causing the lag just now. Here is the scenario: Drove my truck near one of my sites, no lag getting out of truck or turning it off. However I am unable to get the two guns I put in the truck's inventory, nor can I pull the battery or glow plug. I tried running away and coming back but no luck. I had no issues with moving things around in my inventory either. As I was trying to get the items out of the truck, I happened to find a UMP in the grass 5 feet from the truck. Loaded UMP which means somebody dropped this here and it wasn't me. I was able to pick up the ump and the extra mag I found. I ran to my camp, dropped the ump and extra mag; ran back but still couldn't access the two guns or car parts on the truck. I was able to get back into the truck with no lag so I drove it away from that area where I found the UMP on the ground; stopped the engine, got out and whala, I could grab both guns, and the car parts with no lag. Sorry if this throws a monkey wrench into your testing, but this was a new one to me.

Not at this time; I actually need to do a food run tonight which was my plan after testing stuff. In theory, yes all these items are containers, but who knows. As I said earlier, I just hope they fixed all the issues causing lag at our camps :)
-
I too just had an odd instance of lag coming up to one of my sites. One thing I did have on me in my improvised backpack was two canteens full of water. Never noticed an issue before with water in canteens, but I will also this some more. Overall though, I am able to function at all my sites and I can live with this until the hotfix comes out. Let's just hope they figured all of it out b/c there still seems to be some random lag at camps.

Alright, from my small test, I ran to my little camp where I have a barrel a backpack and an ammo can on the ground that has nothing in it. No lag whatsoever coming up to the camp. Can fully interact with all the items I have and opening and closing the barrel worked flawlessly. Upon picking up the ammo can and placing it into my improvised backback, I then loaded up the ammo can with mosin ammo. Immediately upon doing so, LAG at my camp. Items are not moving around freely anymore nor is it recording items being taken from my barrel to my improvised backpack. I ran away from the camp, the lag goes away. I ran back with the ammo can in my backpack (remember its full of mosin ammo) and the lag returned. I then ran away one more time, removed all items from the ammo can, ran back with the ammo can still in my improvised backpack and no lag. Finally I ran away one more time to ditch the ammo can once and for all. Returned back to the camp, and you guessed it...... NO LAG. Hope this helps!!!

I'll try testing this right now. I have an ammo can I can place inside my backpack. I'll run away from my camp, and run back to see what it does.

Truck/Tent/Container Loot Problems, Tested
The Riddler (DayZ) replied to DayZCiv's topic in General Discussion
I have zero issues at my mini-camps with and without trucks now that I have gotten rid of all of my containers inside containers. I removed a total of 7 containers (5 ammo cans, 2 first-aid) spreading them out over a 1000M away from my initial camp and the lag went away. My mini-camp consists of 6 backpacks and 1 barrel all with mixed items from ammo to weapons and everything in between. Just food for thought as I can now drive my truck to and from my site(s) without any issues whatsoever. Can't wait for the hotfix which I hope is tomorrow on maintenance day  I have an m4 with a 60 round loaded mag within my barrel as well as a mosin with 5 rounds loaded. No lag with this configuration. -
There is a town not far away with houses scattered about. No lag what so ever. I also did a bit more testing with vehicles. A truck by itself with no items in storage; no issues / no lag near the camp site. I tried it with a barrel in the truck's storage..........ANNNNNNDDDD LAG. Nothing else in the truck storage; just a green barrel. Drove far away from the camp site, removed the barrel, drove back and lag again was gone.

I can 100% confirm this. I have just spent the last 15 mins. removing all ammo cans and first aid kits from my stash of backpacks that had all sorts of lag and it is now 100% lag free. This site consists of: 1.) Red Child Briefcase 2.) Green Mountain Backpack 3.) Red Mountain Backpack 4.) Yellow Dry Bag 5.) Orange Taloon Backpack 6.) Improvised Backback. 7.) Green Barrel All the items are mixed (food, clothes, first aid items, ammo, guns etc). The main thing is no containers inside bags or barrels. This includes ammo cans & first aid kits in my case. I had to run at least 1000m away with my ammo cans and first aid kits (total of 7 containers, 5 ammo cans & 2 first aid) before the lag issue would go away in which I dropped one at a time. Another 1000m and dropped another etc etc. I also do not have a truck anywhere near this site for more perspective.

For me it was a great tip. Truck wouldn't start due to the lag and I was really struggling with moving my stuff getting "session lost" and the item I thought that I moved to my backpack was still in my barrel(s)/backpacks. Going to try this tonight after I make my way back north. I have the hypothermia bug :( Yeah I think so too, however i have a few buddies with just backpacks but twice as many as my entire site where i'm having issues. Everybody's input on here has been great, but still I can't find the common denominator that starts the lag issue. I found 2 barrels myself right when .58 released on my server and the tents came from raiding the NW region of the map on several public servers. Some people are placing tents in really obviously places which I'm finding rather humorous. All in all gang, I really think this thread has been the most productive I've seen out of a stable thread in quite a few builds. I personally appreciate all the feedback in here even if its two people in disagreement over their opinions on this game.

I'm still puzzled by this camp lag myself. I got my truck moved way down the hill thanks to the tips provided here regarding shooting out the tires. On an incline it slides like a body. Anyways, since moving that truck, I have one barrel with an ammo can inside, plus weapons, ammo etc. No lag. Roughly a 1000m away I have another barrel and 3 back packs. All with a mix of items from weapons to food. Major lag and delay with the occasional "lost session". Guess i'll split up that site into another and see what happens...... :(

As as a server owner (Public) I appreciate reading others reporting other server owners kicking players as soon as they join when they are not running a private server. That drives me nuts when it happens to me and they deserve to be reported. Pay for private if you want your "own" server. As far as resetting persistence; I believe I have the ability on my server to wipe persistence (see screen shot). On my server I always use the daily messages and battlelog script to display messages if we are going to be making changes to the server. I'd never wipe the server without prior warning of at least a few days if we could wait so we could give people a chance to move their stuff off the server. In the past when persistence first was introduced, we had several groups come on our TS and let me know they wanted to make their campsites on the server. Unfortunately there were a few times where everything was wiped by either BI or our provider at the time (other than announced wipes). Of course these groups came on TS screaming mad which I understood, but I would do all I could to ensure they understood the wipe was completely out of our control and for the most of them, they understood I try and run a clean, adult friendly server.

Texans are especially welcome ;)

Selfless promotion of my server here :) Try mine. Its a 50 player public server. Server is in Dallas, TX. Since .58 we have not reached more than 10 players at any given time but I have had no issues finding loot including the infamous glow plug. All be it, I had to go all the way to sinstok before I found my first one, but I now have 3 in my posession along with 4 batteries. Towns throughout the map still have good amounts of stuff, but I can't say the same for coastal cities. Just waiting for the "patch" to fix the camps b/c right now I can't use any of my trucks that are there. Oh and one other thing I noticed last night losing my patience with the camp lag/desync issue. I unloaded an entire AK101 mag into the driver's side of one of my trucks and popped all the tires. The truck was on an incline so it started sliding just like bodies do and what would you know? While the truck was moving, all of my inventory including my barrels were accessible without any lag whatsoever. As soon as the truck came to a rest due to some trees, the lag returned. Thought it was worth mentioning if you're absolutely needing access to your barrels/tents etc. I needed food so badly at that moment so I double clicked as fast as I could in my "food barrel' and got several cans of tactical bacon out while the truck was sliding. EDIT: helps if I actually give the server name. Just search for Welcome to the Jungle

I feel you. Its the same for me. I even got a few instances today where my barrel that I was closest too did not spawn in. It literally wasn't there but I ran away "X" amount of meters, came back and it was there. A few times when it happened, I would start to run away and get "session lost" before I had a chance to turn around :( I'm going to have to spread out my stuff further than it is IF I can manage to get it all out of my barrel(s) so I can then pick up my barrel(s). My stash is 1 yellow barrel, & 2 green barrels seperated roughly by about 100 - 150 meters. I also have a truck about 10 meters from the yellow barrel. I lost my glow plug so I have not been able to move my truck today :(. I really want to move it so I can see if the distance I have between my barrels allows for normal gameplay.

I see that too. I also saw in the tracker that it says" FIXED IN VERSION: .59 ...... ???? I really really hope they are not waiting tell then to deploy a fix :(
-
I do! I don't take it personal when my camp gets looted. It means I should have hid it better. HOWEVER! I do like to know if it was raided or some items just disappeared so I always leave a piece of paper and a pen inside my cooking pot over the fire :) I have some more time today to test the loot issues in and around camps. Hopefully we can get one step closer to solving this RIDDLE ;)

Lots of good info from all the tests you folks are doing to try and figure out this issue with lag/desync in and around.....well let just say for now..... "STUFF". I'm too starting to wonder if its maybe an item or items that cause this? Maybe a bad combination? As always, please remember to report it on the feedback tracker guys! I think in a few days one of us with the help from from these forums is going to figure this out and HOPEFULLY! we see a hotfix. This Riddle sure has the best of me so far....... :)

The Dev's indeed know about this issue, but it always helps to report it on the feedback tracker. Here is a tracker already placed that is in alignment with my issues below. Trucks more than anything seem to be the culprit if you bring them near you're base camp. Whether it be barrels, tents, bags or a combination of all three. Not until we brought a truck near did we have these issues. Prior to bringing this truck near our base camp, we moved our barrels to be at least 100m apart using a range finder and we could sort through them just fine. https://feedback.dayz.com/view.php?id=27454 If you're seeing this same issue, vote this issue on the feedback tracker.

Yes I have noticed it but continue to struggle with sorting my items after being in the game for a bit. Item moving is incredibly slow and/or it doesn't move at all until I log out and back in. I am also getting "session lost" if I stand still for too long next to some of my barrels. I have them all separated about 150m apart which seemed to help on Friday, however yesterday when I played it was back to the same issues and its become so bad I can't really play on my server when I'm around my own mini-camp. I've had to switch to another server, walk out of the area my camp is in, log out and back into my server so I can play again :( Frustrating to even attempt to collect gear at this moment until this issue is resolved.
-
thanks. I knew about the "larger" camps but like you I didn't think a couple of barrels would do this?
-
Anybody else having issues with multiple barrels and lag/delays? I have 3 barrels within 15 feet of each other as well as a truck and when I am trying to sort through items in my barrel's or my truck but I get a serious delay (20 - 4- seconds) before the action/animation occurs. Have recorded gameplay of it and will submit a feedback tracker but wanted to see if anybody else has seen/experienced this? Person on our TS mentioned if they're too close to each other this happens? Can anybody else confirm? I'm right now in the process of trying to move the items to test this but its ridiculous how long it takes for the game to respond. EDIT: I was able to empty one barrel that didn't have too much in it, picked it up and ran away from my other barrels. I don't have a range finder but indeed being further away from the other barrels seemed to fix the issue of the delay/lag of performing an action. I was able to set that barrel down, open/close the lid as soon as I clicked, and place and remove items from the barrel.

I can't help but become very frustrated week after week reading these reports. I have tried for the last hour to write out a well documented and well worded (non-aggressive) reply based on the prior status report's, trying to understand the direction in which development is going with this game. However I simply can't find the words without sounding like a complete asshole and that is not my intent with making this post. I'm just trying to understand so please if you must, take this with a grain of salt; I have a lot of respect for what goes into development having been apart of a software project management team, and understand that things change as software evolves from when the first few lines of code that are written. I don't have the luxury to play all the time, and I certainly don't have enough time to check out the experimental builds vs. stable from patch to patch to compare, but it just seems that development is all over the place from week to week and month to month. Why is that the case with this game? Is there staffing issues and/or turnover within the teams that prevents you all from moving forward on progress of things that have been touched on in the past? Has there ever been an internal discussion with the entire team(s) that maybe you all should stop working on delivering new content and get what you have now working correctly? Please stop hiding behind the curtain of "This game is still alpha" as an excuse for all the bugs/glitches/issues and just make the game more playable. You need a fan base to continue development and I fear you're losing too many of us with the route in which you are currently taking simply based on the performance. I for one am holding on and watching to see where things go. I don't give up on a game just b/c I don't like the development but when the game is not enjoyable due to bad frame rate, glitches, etc etc ..... its hard to continue playing. If after reading all this and you're angry with my opinion, please read this again and think about players out there who are just starting out and at the same time think of players like myself who have been around since the beginning of standalone.
