So where have all the Mosins gone?

Mosins can be found on the backs of brown pickup trucks as well. Never forget to check the vehicles. There are two types of pickups...one has the trailer door hanging diagonally from the back. These spawn loot in the form of backpacks, food, magazines, residential weapons, clips, ammunition... But the brown trucks that have the pipe in the bed never spawn loot. Know the difference, always check the right one.
  2. We aren't talking about clothes? That's odd...since the OP mentions them and they are important facets of what people consider to be an "end game character's" gear. Don't tell me what a Topic is about when the OP mentions something that I'm talking about. Capisce? Lovely. Wearing full military gear makes complete sense...when you're in the military with a military's worth of equipment to support you. Not in a post apocalyptic world where the next clean bottle of water should be as much of a concern as the amount of bullets in your weapon. Don't tell me we aren't talking about clothing in a thread about end game gear when the gear that you wear on your back is directly determinant in your physical condition, which is determinant on your ability to not die or become incapacitated to the elements. Your gun only affects your survival when you fire it or when somebody sees you holding it. Clothing on your back is a survival element that is always at play, every second of every minute of every hour that you play, regardless of what other players are doing and regardless of what they think about you. You say that you're not a "cod kid" but all you seem to be focused on is "mah military grade assault rahfles" and not "What should I be wearing?", which is...oddly not a concern in Call of Duty games I have noticed. Just an observation.
  3. That's right...you run around in your military coat and pants, assault vest, ballistic helmet, gas mask, combat boots and gloves, and keep an assault rifle and a fireaxe on your back and see how long you sprint around with your server hopping gear buddies in the Chernarus sun without getting hyperthermia. Show us how 2 endgame while you're passed out on the ground from overheating. Bring on the .49 update. It's time to separate the DayZ players from the Call of Duty ones.
  4. You don't have a right to demand anything from the developers of DayZ.

    Friendly? oh please..

You will meet genuinely friendly players. Don't believe the hype.

Is It International Crazy Person Weekend?

Crazy Person? I prefer the term Adventurous Risk Taker.

    Camouflage?

As a person who has done lots of tests with friends with camouflage and profile changing clothing... CAMOUFLAGE WORKS. There are limits, of course. Past 175-200m, grass doesn't render or show and players can adjust game settings to help spot players, so you can see characters without it, but in distances that are shorter than that, wearing clothing that changes your profile and blends in without a doubt can help you remain unseen. The best clothing that we've found has been the brown shaded Gorka Military gear, Autumn and Spring Hunter Pants, Tan Tactical Shirts, and similar items. Boonie hats, camo bandana masks, ushankas, and other camo hats help to a lesser degree. It depends, of course, on what colored patch of foliage that you choose to hide in, plus you have to be aware of what you are standing in front of as well so that your profile isn't seen from a certain direction, but me and my friends most certainly can see the difference in using effective camouflage. Besides, there is no reason NOT to wear duller, brown/green colored clothing when you find it, so you should always wear clothing that will make you harder to see, hypothermia and hyperthermia notwithstanding... For instance, in this picture we cannot see Mr. Dimitri Ushenko, 47 Timberline Rd., Southeast 5, Olsha...

    Experimental Branch: 0.49 Discussion

Also, here's a bug that shows that 35 of my friends are playing in this server. Sadly, my dream of a full server Electro Techno Pants Off Dance Off must wait...

    Crossbows being ignored?

Balance is not an Alpha concern. The crossbow's day shall come.

    Might as well fight

Once more into the fray, Into the last good fight I'll ever know. Live and die on this day, Live and die on this day.
  16. I have over 290 hours in this game. I've massacred clans huddled in barracks, been the salvation of new spawns running from axe wielding psychopaths, have destroyed countless members of the walking dead, I've memorized half the map, know all the weapons, ammo, and good clothing spawns, and actively keep up with this game's development. Two days ago I discovered that I could double click on items and they are put into my inventory automatically.

Base building and secureing your stuff

Realism says that even a small caliber weapon should allow you to gun yourself through doors. It also says that high caliber rounds and certain melee weapons should allow you to do the same thing. Of course, the game designer in me wants to ask..."If all these easy to find items can break into people's forts and barricades...there's no reason to have one to store your stuff. You'd be much better with the Valley of the Kings strategy and just find a certain tree in the middle of the forest and dump your shit there because nobody will ever randomly stumble upon it in a bajillion years.

Is it to easy to gear up?

Gearing up is too easy. In the current .48 Stable branch that I play now, I hardly feel any pang of dissatisfaction at having a character be reset either through a extraordinarily-convenient-for-certain-clans-my-group-is-about-to-murder restart in a [ZaP] server or just running into some murderous Russian speaking psychopath. Gearing up is so EASY now that It's actually kind of "fun" to see how fast you can get your hands on a weapon and some olive/brown clothing. Seriously, I don't think people realize just how common weapons, ammunition, and good clothing are and how many spawns they run by all the time that can give them amazing gear. Rusty vehicles are goldmines for ammunition and for weapons, even now when you can't see the police cars. I AM SHOCKED HOW MANY PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW THAT KALASHNIKOVS SPAWN IN JEEPS. There. I said something true. Give me beans, dammit.
  20. Never get attached to your gear. It's not yours. You're only renting it.

Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?

The worst thing about Dean Hall is that his player model's hair clips through everything I put on his head.

    How to stop server hopping.

If somebody would actually make a constructive thread about this topic, I would be immensely in favor of that. What we need is a Civil and Open discussion on what your best solutions are to what I consider a part of DayZ that breaks "the spirit of the game" and should be rectified. What we don't need is all this "You're retarded" and "You're a moron if you think..." nonsense because somebody stated their idea, which is more than what 93.4% of players do about the game. At least they offered an alternative. You don't have to shoot them down like the Luftwaffe over London. I disagree entirely with some of the people posting here, but I'm not going to call their mental fortitude into question because of it.
  23. I have an i7-4770K doing the stock speeds. I bought a Noctua cooler...so I intend to OC it. I'm not a huge tech guy, though, so I have to learn how. BUT...I know this game is really CPU dependent. If I got that kind of frameage I would be ecstatic.
