A zombie is an NPC in the same way an Elk is. It has extremely simple behavior. A zombie is basically an animal in that wears clothing and walks upright. Having non infected human survivors that are not player controlled would be a bad idea. And nobody plays DayZ to interact with a bunch of computer controlled randies that don't have any life behind them.

I think that that if a person is truly a pacifist, they are either ignorant, naive, or just flat out inhumane.

Total Biscuit would have a field day with the FOV slider fiasco. Also, I only have so many beans I can give you.

DayZ SA Equipment Guide: What Equipment you should be using to survive, and where to find it!
Rags! replied to marsmars's topic in New Player Discussion
Everybody is on the coast, because that's where everybody spawns. It's really that simple. There's no reason to leave the coast, that's where all the players and all the interaction is. I took a cruise down the coast in a VS3 that I found by the NWAF. I had, miraculously, a FULL tank of gas. I drove it up and down the coast and what I saw amazed me. I saw dozens and dozens of people, but not a single soul in my trip there, which took me through Vybor, Kabanino, Stary and Novy Sobor, Gorka, and Dubrovka. No a single soul anywhere there. But once you hit the coast...you see more people than you could imagine. Being able to cruise at that speed up and down the coast was really mindblowing. It really does show to you how poor the idea of coastal spawning is. It's easy to leave and head inland...but nothing happens inland. -

TTsKO shirt as the best top? Please. Gorka clothing offers better arguably better camouflage but is waterproof. I would take a green raincoat over a TTsKo jacket since it's about the best camouflaged item in the game and is also waterproof. The new green quilted top is also a contender since it is well colored. Black clothing is bad, also. Black enhances your profile, even at night, and definitely in grass. Browns and olive drabs are your best bet for that. Don't tell people to wear black clothing at night. That's just handing out bad advice. Also, I have said it before, and I shall say it again: THE SAWED-OFF SHOTGUN IS THE BEST GUN IN THE GAME. Sure, It's great to have an M4, but you're not going to get your hands on one. They are the exception, not the rule. But a double barreled shotgun is far more deadly at even medium ranges and both the weapon, the hacksaw, and the ammunition is plentiful. I've dropped players at thirty feet with a single shell from a sawed-off. Plus it's quick to reload. No matter what you have on you, the sawed-off shotgun is the best secondary/primary weapon in the game. Learn it, use it, believe it. -
As long as there are no AI characters or NPCs, I can be behind the idea of random events happening around Chernarus, even it by "event" it's just something as simple as a broken down truck along the road somewhere where special goodies might possibly spawn. Perhaps you could find some old busted up tank that can spawn Kalashnikovs or military gear, maybe an ambulance crashed into a ditch with medic kits, bandages, and a wealth of similar supplies. There could be five or ten or whatever of these events on a server every few hours or so, and could despawn after a restart or a certain amount of time or some such.

This is a bad idea, and you are wrong.

I think having the ability to carry both a full sized shotgun like the MP-133 and then a Mosin Nagant is both unrealistic in terms of weight and cumbersome-ness and gives a player far too much versatility at one time. Plus, it would basically invalidate the advantages of being able to saw down weapons or having pistols at the ready. People would also just put their two handed melee weapons in their backpacks. Because, yea. You can do that. That's a thing. Don't forget that's a thing.

I'm sort of an enthusiast, so I use this Audio Technica ATH-AG1. Worth every penny. Excellent sound quality with a very excellent microphone. Super comfortable. It's like wearing a cloud. If you are on a budget, though...I would recommend buying yourself a Logitech G430. Those run about $63 . They are comfortable and have decent sound quality and a decent microphone. If you really want to spend only forty dollars, Logitech also makes the Logitech G230 which sells for $40. I haven't used this one personally, though, but it's has a 4/5 on Amazon. If you're really on a budget, though, I there's always the cheapo Wal-mart ones. But you're playing on a PC. Show some self respect. I know you said you wanted to spend under forty bucks...but trust me, you want to spend that extra moolah to get yourself something decent. If you are going to skimp on something, don't let it be your headset.

Good. There were way too many uber-loot one and two hour restart servers. Edit: Nevermind.

Does anybody know if these pics are from the New DayZ Render?

The animals there sure don't look like they're part of the usual engine...they look a lot nicer. Almost cell shaded in an odd way. -
DayZ Dev hints at possible DX 12 Engine, are you all willing to wait? I know I am

I think one of the Devs mentioned in a report or some such that optimizations would lead to a 30-40% increase in frames. And to be honest, that's really not what I was hoping for. -
Yes, dead bodies should indeed disappear. If they didn't, there would be piles of them littering the streets of coastal towns and military bases and it would make it even more difficult for items on the person to be factored into the loot economy. If bodies never disappeared, it would be immersive...at first...but then you'd see just how frequently people die in the same places since players still all spawn in the same general areas. There should be a longer timer on bodies, I think. But they should indeed despawn after a while.

Resetting your computer really isn't a big deal, you know.

I don't have any issue at all finding armament. The key is that I don't expect to have a gun and ammo in my hands and be clad in military camouflage with a ballistic helmet at all times. Plus, if you know where to look...stuff really isn't that hard to find.

It's a solution for everybody who plays on private shards servers. And that's me and all the smart people.
-
Translation: I've grown accustomed to weapons and ammunition being extremely plentiful and easy to acquire in all places and times. Now that I can't, this game sucks.
-
Yes there is. Private Shard servers. Where you can't server hop for the best gear without competition. Plus, you have to find both a magazine and the matching AK for it. In the weeks that I've played exclusively on private shard servers, I have come across a single Kalashnikov report in the distance. Just one.

It's really hard to see the problem with such tiny images.

1. Not necessarily. It depends on how long it took for people to become infected, and seeing as most of the looting you'll do is based on private homes and such, it's very believable that canned food is still around. Besides, Chernarus doesn't seem like it has an extremely thick or dense population. Plus, the density of items can now be changed at will by the developers, and persistence is the ultimate goal here. Item rarity and spawning isn't finished yet. 2. Yes. 3. Yes. 4. Yes. 5. Your character can't find a stick in the middle of the woods. You aren't possibly going to be able to find an ashwood stick on an ashwood tree. Don't be ridiculous. 6. Yes.

They will add the ability to top off internal magazines later in development. Don't worry. But to be fair, everything that you have posted has been discussed in the past at great length. If every assault rifle had a magazine in it loaded up with thirty bullets, that would be way too much firepower to get your hands on at one time. Finding an automatic assault rifle isn't supposed to be easy or quick. It's not supposed to happen often. The more rare that high powered weaponry is and the difficulty it takes to acquire it...the more value you place on your character's life.

I would really, really like Hicks to give his two cents on this topic.

Of course, almost all these servers seems to be 24/7 high noon so the Flare isn't going to be useful in most servers. And that's a darn shame.

What settings could i use for my new PC and still get a decent FPS
