  1. Err no. It's not been like that for quite a while. Try the military camps to the north of NWAF or the big camps. You'll find plenty of guns and ammo...oh and zombies.
  2. The only way to stop 'Shoot on Sight' is to give the potential shooter something to their advantage. Sure let shooters be able to kill players, but if they can choose to wound players, then they could perhaps decide not to kill? I suggest that players can collect skills by performing tasks or finding books. Their benefit is they do the skill faster over time if if they repeat common actions. Like Apple picking or they get less disease if repeatingly drinking pond water, or opening tins with a knife gets easier are but 3 simple examples. These skills would be passed on to the villain if they capture the player alive and have to 'interrogate' them over a period of time. Then the player has to choose to manually pass them on at their convenience in return for their release? Veteran players with high skills would be valued for team work and they could use skills for bartering goods?

    Please remove the Gamma option.

IIRC the gamma setting of a modern monitor can be read via the DDC (Display Data Channel) and EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) data available from the monitor. So any game could simply read the gamma settings of the video card and the monitor and warn if they're being abused?
  4. Can't seem to get my head around the odd small plastic case we can pick up. What's the point of carrying such a case if it takes up the same number of items in your main backpack as the small case can carry.
  5. America adopted the ISO, Celsius and Metric scales decades ago. They just forgot to tell their population. Go figure.

How to run the Experiment version?

Thanks Boneboys, I did try a search using "how to play the experimental version" and got a page of results, none of which told me how to to actually do it. :) Your link wasn't in it. The trick is with making topics is to try and use keywords that an average player might use in finding the subject. Thanks.

How to run the Experiment version?

Thank you very much! :) That is a gem. Many thanks, you're grand!
  9. Can't figure out how to join the 0.49 experiment version via Steam. I've always just used the stable version. Any help pretty please?

    DayZ can be very frustrating

So very easy to avoid the Zombies. You just need to develop the knack. The trouble I have with Dayz is other players. No one wants to be friendly, as soon as you find one who says he is, they get bored, then you're dead. With most players you can't see them, nor can you hear them. It might as well be a random dice getting thrown that decides if you get shot or not. Even a Mod add-on with a spider-sense sort of thing would be nice to tell you there may be a person within 500M of you. But no, they could be running only 10M from you over creaky floor in a building and you can't even hear them! Personally I think a version of Dayz with no guns (or only small handguns) would be great. Just me and my Axe, lopping off Zombie heads and finding stuff and generally surviving, finding parts to fix a boat or helicopter to reach a safe ship out to sea? The trouble with most Dayz mods I've tried out is that gear isn't that rare at all. It's far too easy to run from a dozen Zs and duck into a building and out the back. Will we ever get hordes of Zs? Can a Server even provide 50-100 Zs per player instead of only about 20 over a square kilometre? As you can tell I'm like a lot of people, kind of become bored with Dayz as shooting humans just for the fun of it isn't my thing.

DayZ Developer Blog 7th September 2013

I was wondering much the same. Does the rain make my character wet and cold and does salt water degrade the items?

Anything for those of us who don't want to use guns? I'm a DayZ Survivor and tend to wander well away from people. So it's scavenging and hunting mainly.
  13. Ok, it's no longer March, when is the next version due out? :)

    New Major BattlEye Anti-Cheat Features

Pretty obvious that the Server Admin is using a script which has the 'addweaponcargo' command on your map. He needs to edit the BEC scripts to avoid kicking players who are not doing anything illegal. Just email him. :)

    DayZ Mod 1.7.7.1 Hotfix

Shame. As it would make the game much more interesting. I see from Map editing there are a number of unused enter-able buildings in the Cher map for example. No one around on this forum who could take one of those buildings and swap it with a building that isn't enter-able? I'm one of those who doesn't use guns, only the Axe, so opening up a new building would increase at a stroke the time spend exploring. Personally I feel the maps are rapidly getting rather stale with nothing new to see. Perhaps you could make garbage cans/containers into loot stash points? That'll make exploring more interesting? Just my penny's worth. :)
