Where can I find a press vest these days?
Schweinsteiger replied to aquamonkey's topic in General Discussion
Whatever dude, the vests are virtually the same and their function is the same. You're just arguing for the sake of arguing. A fucking assault vest is the same damn thing as a tactical vest. -

Yes, looks like a name change to me. It looks like an assault vest, i.e., a "tactical vest". Compare it with what's in game at the moment and let's look at the differences. As far as I can tell the vests in the game at the moment serve the same exact purpose, hence the removal of the "Tactical Vest". They also look exactly the same so your point seems mute. -

Yes, I did say that. But they are the same thing. A "tactical" vest hold mags/ammo. An Assault vest holds mags/ammo. Does anyone have an in-game picture of the "tactical vest" from earlier this year so we can compare the two? It seems like a simple name change has occurred. -

UK Assault Vest, Camo and Black. High Capacity Assault Vest ,etc. Found mainly in barracks and military Jails (Camo buildings) , fire houses and other places. -

Tactical vests offer protection. They stop bullets up to a point. -
I was watching a video of the Dayz Mod and checked out a slow moving (shuffler) Zombie. The zombie looked really awesome. I'd like to see some zombies look like that in DayZ SA. They looked more like Zombies then what we have in game currently. Love the idea of a craftable vest and coat. Good things are coming.

Playstyle definitions or What's a Bandit?
Schweinsteiger replied to ☣BioHaze☣'s topic in General Discussion
Nice list Skippy. I loot up (Loot Goblin) then play chaotic neutral. I might shoot you in the face one Monday and pal around with you on Tuesday. I've been murdered so many times I figure you give what you get. I was in Cherno last night and two douche bags (one with an AK and the other with SKS, near the fire house) tried to kill me. Luckily they were total noobs and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. I wheeled it out of there like I was Jesse Owens on fire! -
It wouldn't take generations to create a good bow. It's a post-apocalyptic world, not a total wipe of all knowledge. There are still literally millions and millions of books, not to mention tens of thousands of bows out there. You'd just have to find them. The toughest thing in a post-apocalyptic world would be how to produce food and medicine. Weapons would be fairly easy to come by. There would be shit tons of gunpowder available as long as you know where to look. You learn to roll your own (reloading) and you're good for the next three hundred years. Food production and animal husbandry would be a real challenge. You could get the electric up and working in pretty short order, all depending on how many people you can rustle together. The real problem besides food and meds would be your sociopaths, "governor types" like from the walking dead. It would seem that a certain subset of criminals would thrive in a post-apocalyptic world. They would be the assholes who would shoot you to take your gear. They did it before the apocalypse and it would be all that much easier for them in the "present" apocalypse.

Laughing my ass off!!! Fucking "loot goblin". Brilliant! -
Well, I still disagree with you on many points (YouTube "Slingbow") Archery is one thing using a slingbow is pure genius. People learn to do when they are forced to do. Even after a few years there would be loads of stuff lying around. Gasoline would be pretty useless after a few years, not so sure about diesel fuel though? They talked about adding some U.S. maps once things really get going but you know how talk can be. The people left would be those who could best adapt to the new world. That most likely wouldn't be people from the fucking service industry. It would be blue collar people.

Dude, are you a bit nuts? It's a game. They could easily add a few more jackets, coats, leather materials, etc. They could easily add another 30 craftable things to do in the game. I want to see variation, not repetition. You also confuse more variation with more loot. The servers are going to become larger, i.e., more players will be playing. Instead of a limit of 40 it might double to 80 or even go to 100. As for a post-apocalyptic world, there would literally be millions of tons of shit lying around, most of it in fine shape. Go to the port of any large city and you'll see thousands of cargo containers filled with all types of goods. And that's just a single example. Most people are limited in knowledge and imagination in this world. Most would run to the local supermarket or gun shop, even a strip mall or other similar places. They wouldn't think of supply lines or how things wind up where they wind up. Most people would go to a gas station for gas post-crash. But those who have some knowledge would go to the source. Do you go to the gun shop or do you go to the gun factory? Do you go to the police station or an armory that most Americans don't even know is right down the street from them?

The dude Fog had on the side of the road was a complete moron. Those were the easiest five questions in the world! Besides that, Fog seem like a bowl of dicks. -

Too bad for Bapoo, he shouldn't have taken the shitty route with you. Now he's just a funny story. -
Nah, no range finders. Again, you should easily be able to estimate what 100m looks like, then you can just multiply that 100m out to 1000m fairly accurately. If not then it looks like you're not making any 1000m kills. Practice makes perfect.

Awesome play my friend. You're not a coward (as some have suggested). You used your brain and came out on top. The guy may have been a sniper and maybe not. Hard to tell. I often scope out the terrain, not looking to kill anyone. But if I see an opportunity I'll take it.

what's your favorite backpack to use?
Schweinsteiger replied to TheMaxedout's topic in General Discussion
The Hunter backpack. It's the right color and has ample space. My second favorite would be the improvised leather backpack. We need another craftable backpack option. Maybe a 30 slot improvised leather backpack made out of a cow hide, that would be great. It would look pretty awesome, depending on the color of the cow you kill. -
If they limit military gear I'm cool with that...if... and only if they add a bunch of cool new civilian clothing and crafting options for gear. We need more jackets and trousers, different footwear and hats. We need civi vests (everything from fishing vests to hiker's gear) and survivor type clothing. We need a lot more rifles in this game and we need more pistols to make it interesting. We need a way to craft our own camo using spray paint, dyes, whatever. Heavy duty sewing kits are needed to repair what is currently unrepairable (tactical vests, rain coats, boots, etc.). Good clothing in real life lasts a long time if you take care of it. The game should reflect reality as much as possible. And backpacks...Why in the hell are we limited to only being able to craft a backpack with 25 slots (improvised leather backpack made out of boar hide)? Who really wants to run around wearing a bright red "shoot me" Mountain backpack/Taloon backpack on in this game? I sure as hell don't. At the very least give us an option to craft a leather backpack that is equal with the Hunter's backpack. That would be reasonable. Good news...The Devs announced that new camo military tents are coming soon for individual use (I believe they will replace the small blue tents I've never been able to find?).

An improvised Ghillie Suit would be cool. You'd have to hunt around for rope and other odds and ends to make one so it would be moderately tough to do. It should not be easy by any means. The range finder is a bad idea in my opinion. Seriously, you can't estimate what 100 meters looks like in the game and then just multiple that in relation to your target? I took out a Zomber in Novad yesterday at it had to be at least 500m away. The Zomber was very tiny in the cross-hairs of my LRS. I took the shot and the Zomber met his end. I really haven't tried taking out any targets beyond 500m. There is no reason to make things hard on yourself. The only reason to shoot past 500m is to challenge yourself. I'm fine with that. It's fun to see how good you are as a sniper. I just recently switched from AK's and SKS's to the Mosin. The Mosin is more of a challenge. In short range engagements I use pistols, the best being the FNX45 which is very hard to find. Right now I have a 1911 which is awesome for close combat situations, and I have a Python as secondary pistol. Both of those pistols will do the job nicely.

Does anyone else want to be captured/tortured?
Schweinsteiger replied to UltimateGentleman's topic in General Discussion
Nine times out of ten they will kill you at the end of it all. Why am I going to allow them to take all my pristine gear? I'd rather tell them to fuck off and have a shoot out. That way, if they do kill me most of my gear will be useless to them. Even if I don't have a weapon I'm still going to try and punch one out so I can grab a weapon. If it doesn't work out at least I wasn't someone's bitch. -
I don't get why anyone would save the flashlight. Until the Devs come up with a way to stop people turning up their gamma at night the flashlights are useless. I always threw away my battery and flashlight, then ripped up my shirt for rags. Now that weather effects have been added, along with cattle prods and stun batons I keep the battery and don't rip up my shirt anymore, unless I'm bleeding and have no other way to stop the bleeding.

The Dayz Devs need to make the paper someone has written on become another color, or maybe fold them up so we can immediately tell that someone left a message. I've stopped checking paper because 999 out of 1000 have no message on them. If there was a visual change on paper that someone wrote on then I would stop and know there was going to be a message. Apparently, when the SA came out a lot of morons were writing racially provocative statements so they stopped the whole note writing thing.

That's not true. All of the friends I have made came from directly interacting in Dayz. Now we all pal around together and use Team Speak. I met a guy the other day in the barracks at Zelenogorsk. He literally spawned inside the barracks and had an AK101 (one bullet in the chamber) in his hands. He shouted "Don't shoot" (i had an AK101 fully loaded, pointed at his head). I decided not to shoot and we became friends. He's a crazy mofo from Michigan and he's fun to play with. Before that I met a bunch of British guys and we've been fast friends ever since meeting up. We all plat Dayz daily together. I'm not big on joining clans because you always have to jump through a bunch of hoops. In clans, everyone wants to have a high rank and it causes problems. Eventually the clan either breaks up or becomes some weirdo bureaucracy with two or three "leaders" that rule with an iron fist. Their underlings kiss their ass repeatedly and faithfully and it just makes me sick. Having said that I'm sure there are a few clans out there that are laid back and cool. -
The game is moving forward nicely.
