We need a Hardcore (aka Survival) Mode
Schweinsteiger replied to blazinone's topic in General Discussion
I don't know man, that sounds like a really bad idea to me. I really don't want to spend all my time eating and keeping warm. Realistically, coats and jackets actually keep you warm. Eat a meal (a can or two of food) and you're good to go for at least three or four hours. I can see the fatigue thing being more realistic, same with disease and healing. But the rest of it? No thanks. I didn't pay for an eating simulator. Hardcore should equal more zombies, less food, weapons degradation (within reason) and similar things. -
It all sounds great! Now lets hope that the update happens today. I just logged in and all the servers were "Experimental unstable" so I'm hoping that is a good sign that they are working to get .50 up and running today as stable. The new inventory looks good as long as we can customize it (I believe that is what "modular" means in the developer notes?). I just want to find me a nice MP-133 and shoot the shit out of people!!!

Does anyone dislike the "no military stuff" agrument?
Schweinsteiger replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
Says who? You? I love how people tell us what happened when no one really knows. Massive amounts of military loot would remain long after the beginning of the Zed uprising. You'd just have to figure out where to look. The armed forces in the real world do have secret caches spread around their nation. They're called "armories" and they exist. What about D.U.M.B.'s? DUMB stand for "Deep Underground Military Base" and they also exist in real life. My point is there would be plenty of military gear to be found post-apocalypse, even 20 years down the line. The military pack away surplus weapons very carefully. They would be loaded with cosmoline or some similar modern equivalent and then stored in a hard-shelled container. -
I guess it felt implied when you said "H1Z1 is way easier", either way I wasn't trying to put words in your mouth,
-
In H1Z1 the name only app[ears when you're literally right next to a person. Other then that it is the same as DayZ. And I wouldn't call the shooting mechanics in DayZ anything other then arcade. I'm sure there will be bullet drop in H1Z1. Moving is the same, in fact in DayZ you run seriously fast, not exactly realistic. DayZ isn't exactly hard by any means so I don't know what you're talking about there. You can find food every three feet in DayZ. I think this whole "fan-boy" thing is just lame. What would you rather have, a single game or two quality games to play? Yeah, looking forward to the MP133. Wednesday you say? I hope so man, I really do.
-
Yeah, I'm looking forward to the MP133. Unfortunately Exp was a disaster last time I tried it. Literally no loot besides some camp stoves and chem lights. It was really disappointing. I love DayZ I'm just a bit frustrated at having to wait so long for the game to develop to where it doesn't get boring very fast. You're right though, it does take time. H1Z1 looks awesome and we can use the spray paint cans to tag anything! We can take over a neighborhood and tag it (My gang will get you!). They have vehicles in the game already, zombie hoards, nice weapons, sweet graphics, good lighting, etc. Can't wait for H1Z1 Early Access!!!
-
Everything sounds great ("sounds" being the optimal word here) but when in the hell are we going to see something new? Is the update coming soon (this Wednesday morning)? I know you guys are working hard but the game is getting a bit boring at the moment. I want that pump shotgun and a truck to roam around in. I want base building and tents, etc. It's awesome that you guys are throwing out these status reports but we all want to see these things implemented as soon as possible. H1Z1 will probably be released in the next month or two and when that happens there's going to be a mass exodus from DayZ to H1Z1 (albeit temporarily...you hope). You got the cash now give us the product (yeah, yeah, yeah, it's Alpha!).

The Mosin walk forward trick. I'm not chosen by any means (at least I don't think so?). The less people that know about it the better. Do you really want everyone carrying a Mosin being able to kill people from 1000 yards out? I was fooling around in Electro and hitting Zeds out that far without any problems. It's good it will be fixed but we still need a realistic "weapon sway", i.e., virtually no sway as in real life. the only way you get the ridiculous sway they model in game in real life is if you're standing up and seriously out of breath. How many snipers would shoot like that in real life? In real life a sniper is going to use some sort of rest/bench. Whether it be his own body or an object in his environment. And why remove the bi-pod for the Mosin? My point? The game does not simulate weapon sway accurately at all. The people who are always calling for weapons or other things to be nerfed really irritate me. There is no such thing as "balance" in real life. We are not all created equal. The weapon you choose will be a trade off of some sort. If you pick a Mosin you should be able to easily snipe a person. If you pick a fully auto AK or M4 then you have the advantage at close and medium ranges. That's true "balance" in my opinion. Peace.
-
Thanks for being a bigmouth. You just ruined a pretty good secret.
-
Seriously? You can mount a scope to a Mosin in real life. It was and still is a good sniper rifle. It may be old but it is effective. I guess we read up about the Mosin using different sources.

Good idea, bad implementation. I went to the site, logged in through steam and saw the two items up for trade. Didn't see any way to proceed with a trade had I wanted one of the items. Good idea, hopefully the creator will work on the interface so it's less confusing and easier to operate.

Horrible FPS in cities after recent patches
Schweinsteiger replied to Mukaparska's topic in General Discussion
No problem, seemed a bit passive aggressive and I'm a sucker for a fight (civil non the less though) :) Yeah, I imagine an older GPU wouldn't help matters much. I keep hearing that at the moment (concerning DayZ) that the CPU is most important but I find this a bit hard to believe. Maybe it's important but how can it be just as, or more important, then a good graphics card? -

Schweinsteiger replied to Mukaparska's topic in General Discussion
That's because all ram isn't created equal and you have to take the cpu and gpu (and motherboard) into consideration also. When I built the rig back in 2008 (yes, the GPU is newer) I made sure it would last. I bought the best parts I could afford at the time and they have served me well. No, make it six years because the GPU is only part of the picture. I'll say it again, I built it back in 2008. I get good frames everywhere but cities. In cities I get anywhere from 15-25 frames with an average of abut 18-20. -

Huh? He's right. It is ridiculously easy to find food and stay well fed. Learn how to eat, simple. You eat and then drink until you're stuffed (green) and then you only have to eat every so often. It's no freaking secret. -

Nope, not true. My buddies have excellent rigs and they get the same performance as I get and I'm using a PC I built 6 years ago (3.8ghz Intel E8500 [overclocked] GTX 650 2 gigs of memory, 4 gigs of RAM, Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate). The game needs to be optimized (and it only takes advantage of two cores at the moment so having a four or more core processor makes no difference) and they won't optimize until late beta , i.e., right before the official release. -
Nah, then it would be cluttered and destroy the atmosphere of the game. The only grip I have is there isn't a "group" or "team up" options with friends which means you can sometimes wind up shooting your buddies in the heat of combat.

Leather crafting and duct tape!!! Can't wait to duct tape my big mouth friends.

Yeah! Bikes!

It wouldn't be ludicrous by any means. The hardest part would be finding/making fuel. The rest would be a piece of cake. Cars would be literally everywhere man. Take a look outside your window. Most of those cars would run with hardly any work at all (mainly a fresh battery would do the trick).
-
Dude, vehicles are not "end game" material. They are simply something that will make the game better. They shouldn't make vehicles "rare" or too hard to get working.

Love DayZ stories.

Playing without a mic (or when you can't use a mic)

Maybe move your computer to another area in the house? -
Common items you've never seen.
Schweinsteiger replied to leviathanapsu's topic in General Discussion
FNX45, haven't found one that legitimately spawned since .47. Never found a press vest (see above), stab vest. Me and a buddy killed a guy (Rambo mofo) at the east side barracks at the NWAF and he had all kinds of awesome gear. He had a press vest, seven other vests, an FNX45, multiple pistols, a grenade, etc. That was after the wipe so apparently the FNX still spawns, albeit very rarely I imagine. Same goes for the press vest. I didn't take it anyway, I'm not a freaking reporter. Smersh vest (I don't think they really exist). -
Where can I find a press vest these days?
Schweinsteiger replied to aquamonkey's topic in General Discussion
Boom! Exactly my damn point. Well, that's definitely debatable. Depends on the subject matter and how anal one wants to be. In terms of this thread I've been very clear yet previous replies have just been downright argumentative. I do appreciate your post as it proves my point/argument. :D
