Weird. I found a pristine M4 in a house and then found a black tactical vest, all this in the past two days. Apparently the vests are back, or just super rare? The vest is pristine even after several zombie attacks. I just figured the devs made it really tough. I keep four AKM mags in the vest. (I carry my AKM on my shoulder and hold the M4 in my hands).

Had a similar situation up north, west of the NWAF in a small town. Had to deal with four or five Zeds in a row. Didn't see any spawn in but one followed after the other and I was axing them, so no guns. Anyone notice that when you're eating or bandaging and a Zed rolls up on you the cancel button take forever to stop you doing what you're doing? By the time I'm on my feet and getting my ax out I've already taken at least three hits.

On another note, what's the deal with the numbers in the upper right hand corner of the screen when I'm holding my weapon, what do they mean?[200 AKM] I get different numbers at different times. Weird. I guess the dick measuring contest is over?

Never died that way in those locations. I was at the tent city in Balota and died climbing down a ladder. The server started going crazy at the same time I was on the ladder. Seems like I only die when I'm all geared up and ready to rock and roll.

That made me smile, damn if that isn't true! The same with what Bean King said. It's like the game is programmed to make certain items rare when you have the complimentary items that go with them. I bet that's the case. Or am I just being paranoid? (which doesn't mean they aren't out to get me!!!)

I found a 1911 in the jail, then I found the mag in another room in the jail, so yeah, guns are spawning near mags now, which is good. Searching for mags is ridiculous.

Mountain backpack, I like to be able to carry a lot of gear. They should allow us to craft backpacks with just as much space as the Mountain backpack.

Huh? Are you serious? A crossbow does serious damage in real life. Go look it up. Anyone taking a bolt to the torso or head should be dead, period.

Do you ever try exiting the server that you were a fresh spawn on and try a few other servers to see if your gear comes back? When I have a geared character and I join a server that makes me a fresh spawn, I just log out and jump servers until I find a server where my gear comes back. After that everything is a piece of pie!

I'm new to DayZ (been playing a few weeks, have a little over 200 hours in the Zed apocalypse). I started off by playing a game called "DeadZ" and that is how I learned about Dayz (and I watched FrankieonPCin1080p). In their forums Rocket's name came up quite a bit. So far this game rocks, it's miles above the other Zed games I have played (MMO Zed games). In the three weeks I have been playing a lot of good content has been added and the gaming experience has greatly improved. Give the devs some time and this game will become great. I hear a lot of people talking about abandoning DayZ for H1Z1 and I think that would be foolish. The H1Z1 devs have already acknowledged that they owe DayZ a debt of gratitude and if you look at H1Z1 you can see that most of it is just DayZ on a different engine with a few new twists. Let's give the devs a little credit and keep supporting DayZ. It should be worth it in the end.

Believe it or not I found a pristine M4 with all of the attachments in a house on the edge of town. I forget if there was a mag in the gun but it didn't matter, as luck would have it I had 30 round C-mag in my backpack! :)

Thanks for the very interesting story IronCross. It was a great read. They should have left him alone, to go back into the woods and live out his life in peace and quiet. The judge is a dickhead. I bet people would have put out food for him if he was allowed to go back into the quiet of the woods. Now they've forced him into living like the rest of us. Cruel and unusual punishment in my opinion.

Well, I found a crossbow today (a nice camo xbow) and a couple of bolts. I hunted down a Zed and shot him twice in the chest. The Zed kept coming, so yes, they are underpowered at the moment. They should be one of the most powerful weapons in the game.

You're wrong you know. M4s spawn at different places now. I found one in a house the other day, pristine and tricked out and it was not a hack or a dropped weapon. I moved to another house across the street and found a Mosin and a shotty.

We definitely need to have a crafting option for crossbow bolts and the damage dealt needs to be higher (one shot kills for head shots and two for the body, plus speedier reloads).

Actually, you're a bit off on the zombies. They use the most primitive part of the brain, strictly the survival mode, and once they're aggro they should be stronger then humans and much more savage. So, realistically speaking (Zombie apocalypse next Tuesday don't you know!) they should be able to bite through leather...eventually. The key word is eventually. The Rider's jacket should definitely last longer then cloth or synthetic materials. I've found one pristine rider's jacket, one worn and a few badly damaged. The real problem is they take damage like they were made of paper and we can't use the sewing kit to fix them up.

I read in another post that it had something to do with object collision and the server reading your position wrong, so you die from falling or such.

We need a single map instead of having to combine a bunch of maps. Like the OP said, if you have the compass already, when the map open there should be a directional icon.

I' a fan of the sawed off shotty also. It fits in your backpack right along side a fire axe. (I think?)

How can you see another player's name besides when that player is dead?
