All due respect for the passion, patience and faith most of the dedicated players still have for DayZ.

A devotion which the official numbers of the Steam Charts unfortunately cannot express (I know, numbers can be cruel sometimes, you have my sympathies), but with an average player count of 2.134 for the last 30 days and a peak of 4.347, claiming that a bright new future lies ahead with droves of gamers just waiting to join seems just a little bit beyond wishful thinking. The downward trend is stable and continuous over time. There is no indication that proves the contrary.

The PC player base has run dry and the great paradox is that the announced console version is really the only thing that might breathe some life back into the game (number-wise). Clearly a commercial move by Bohemia in trying to turn the tide. But, considering the undoubtedly more "casual" nature of console players (no offense meant), I fear that even an initial success on Xbox and Playstation will be short lived. DayZ will most likely end up being a niche game also on the console platform.

DayZ, a great and innovative game concept which unfortunately will satisfy only a "handful" of dedicated followers. It's a pity.

    Regards

After being involved in setting up and running servers, the biggest worry I have for the game is simply the human element, people are fickle!

Though in saying that, the UK server "The Village" gave me some hope that there is chance for a DayZ utopia one day (couldn't play the server myself though unfortunately, due to high ping). It was more than random groups of people roaming or laying in wait for another random person or group to show up and then battling it out!

There was a coordinated effort from many random people to try and build something (using the limited mechanics of the game available at the time) and to protect it and survive against all those who wished to destroy it... sounds like the vanilla DayZ experience to me... and it was hugely popular!!!

Right up to when I last played I was always seeing and meeting new players, there's interest out there, keeping that interest is hard when you've got such a steep learning curve, and only got a partially complete game with bugs still.

And as i said people are fickle, they'll show up or they wont... usually like sheep, they go where everyone else is and that's my biggest concern.  Bohemia needs to get the beta patch done right, then build on that and really do some marketing to draw the people in again.

Many enterprises were built on the theory that if you build it, then the people will come... we'll just have to wait and see.

Know I'll be back for more after an extended break from DayZ.

The design and vision is wothless, I'm afraid. The gameplay should be getting better and better. But it has mostly been the opposite with each update, especialy since late 2015. Also seems like 10-15 people are really working on this game.

First of all - thanks Bohemia Interactive for great care. I guess Dean Hall quit not without the reason either. I smell corruption.

Second thanks for removing life from the coasts, as it was the main areas for basic interactions, as in inlands it is just so much more difficult and less likely to happen. Low max player count doesn't help either. How much it should have been ? 150 ? Coasts were the areas where things was starting to evolve, without coasts it is just a big nonsense. At coast you would be getting your share of interactions, and a bit of chaos, and at the inlands it would have been more calm, but more unpredictable. Now everywhere it is almost the same.

Third - thanks for making it not only running simulator, by not introducing a simple stupid bike, or bicycle, but also for making it looting simulator because loot economy works just so incredibly well.

And the worst part is that the community, which once been pretty damn awesome, has been lost. Creative community is huge part for such uncontrolled game to be fun. Because only players actions makes it good, if players can't work out anything else what to do besides loot all the time and then KOS, then it quickly gets pretty bad. And the game doesn't help - it tells to you - keep running my friend, lots of buildings are meant to be visited today in various towns, so forget about actually playing, because finding gear is an actual game now.

Dude.. this just reeks of "I want casual easy game play on the coast" and i wont bother mentioning the obvious reasons the devs are working on the things they are right now.. I'm certain you've heard them already.

But if you want meaningful interactions then find a server and join their TS or Discord.. if you can control your whinging you might just strike up a friendship with other regulars (I've met many people I'd call friends IRL, just by doing this, I even did this with the regulars here on the forums, its not that hard). Other people give you camaraderie, laughs, and a general purpose for playing.. fun times!!!... no one is going to say no to an extra set of eyes in the group as long as you fit in, it just takes a little trust building.

I usually look for a zoned map with pvp and no kos areas.. it means the player base is interested in more than just shooting peeps, but don't let that fool you into thinking a lot of them don't like a gunfight though.

Things are quiet at the moment.. many are waiting for .63, its been the norm between patches especially the drawn out ones and I'm doing the same, played a little epoch/overwatch while catching up on things IRL, but its become a little dull. More content doesn't guarantee any better game play... it's the people you're playing with that provide it from my experience.

I would like to see zeds shoot at people.  They wouldn't even have to have decent aim.  If the infected could shoot at people, the pve side would no longer be trivial.  Additionally, you wouldn't be able to determine how many players are out there and what kind of gear they have, simply by listening from a mile away.  They have enough coordination to jump over a fence with one hand, why not be able to squeeze a trigger?

Had these same thoughts.. a random zed that's armed with some kind of firearm. Could be military, police or a hunter but with poor aim unless your unlucky and bump right into them. Would possibly open the door for AI in mods even

You will be haunted by your ignorance, baby boy.

Its all good Bio.. This reminds me of someone on reddit...would trash talk DayZ while talking up miscreated like anything. After a couple of months he suddenly became very positive about Dayz again.. when asked about this sudden change in attitude, the only explanation he could offer, was that he was back on his meds!!! ;)

  5. A mix of both maybe.. There's been really challenging past iterations and some that were just too easy in my mind.. some preferred the former while others preferred the latter. The devs will have to balance both sides somehow until modding starts up I'm guessing.

I've got a feeling that the final state of the vanilla standalone will be very harsh and simply surviving will be an achievement in itself, to really achieve anything more than that will probably require a group effort perhaps. We'll just have to wait and see.

Im not convinced that the invisible infected is a thing. the other night myself and a friend was playing and same kind of thing happened to me, however, before i ducked into the building I was in  the garden having a munch,  I had noticed some lag. a tad more than usuak. anyways, im in the house getting walloped from an infected that wasnt there.  My friend came to help and he said to me that the zed is outside hitting the apple tree right where I was munching on chernarus's finest. My hypotheses is that due to the lag my charachter position wasnt updated properly, many reason for this, could also have been the apple glitch. so thats why to me ity looked like im getting hit by an inv infected which was not the case. altho my dude was in the house, he was still actually outside at the apple tree.  friend killed him and it stopped instantly. Sorry no screenshots or vids but couldhave maybe asked instead of going ofdf on one like most of you do. Like Biohaze said, if all u gonna do is whinge pop on over to reddit, they will welcom you with open arms.   Enjoy O and just incase, anyone complains about the spelling and pronounciatioin, it late, im fucek and tbh font rreall give 2

Yeah.. positional desync is or at least used to be way more common and explains what you experienced.. an actual invisible one is much rarer but I've seen it (No pun intended!). Players on TS said they had an invisible zombie so i ran there and sure enough, i could hear it and got attacked by it, but couldn't see it or shoot it.. may have fallen through the ground mesh.

Not that long ago you had to shoot the dead zombie your saw on your client again for the server to register it as dead I believe, I think IMT has experienced that one before so he may be able to confirm that perhaps?

I mean they do have a point the invisible zombie thing is terrible and the personal attacks aren't cool but fredo does run a server and outrunning a zombie that runs are super fast is impossible and they game isnt worried about important issues just fan boys and arty shit with 2d trees

Its pretty rare to see an invisible zombie, I'm just shy of 5000 hrs and only seen one ever in that time. Found it to be an interesting experience to be honest.

And you can outrun them, unless your PC is a POS.. can hardly blame the devs for that can you?

  8. Try squatting/crawling and rolling around the edges.. if that doesn't work work jam something in your keyboard to hold down the W key and face the outside of the house then pull your internet cable or turn off your modem and let yourself be disconnected.. when you relog you should be outside. Have never had to, but you can contact support and have a dev shift you i believe.. don't go back in there once your out!!!

Yeah I'm aware they can't do that overnight, but it'd be nice if they could assign a small team to work on it, part time to make it happen, while still developing the game.

The modders would be pulling their hair out because anything they do will be broken by development.. it should all fall into place once the foundations are there for it.

  10. Let me try and answer what I can for you Kaiser88...

-i cant skin and quarter the cows and deers

Try skinning animals from the front of the carcass.. scan around until you can see the option, back towards yourself at times even

-i dont find any fish when i go fishing

Had someone catch their first carp on TS couple of nights ago, so you can still fish. There's a method for fishing then the last part seems to be simply getting the timing right.. watched a youtube tutorial when I had trouble with it.

    - tents and barrels disapear sometimes ( offline 5 min for smoking and when i m back all disapear ( 8 barrels, 2 millitary tents and 11 normal tents ) it can't be someone ) , an other day all barrels disapear but not the tents, and yesterday all the tents

Haven't experienced this during .61 myself but some admins I know were talking about tents going but barrels staying on their server yesterday.. very strange! Could be a glitch with persistence maybe, the admins reverting back to an earlier persistence file or simply resetting persistence in the other cases you mentioned.. look into the server your playing on, could be the admins trying to scare you away if its a low pop public server possibly.

    - trucks and bus are always stuck on railroad or railroad crossing the only way for move it is to use an other vehicule for push it, same for rocks and little walls

Railroads are a pain for sure.. that's why I take an alternative route or one where I have the speed to clear them. Was it mentioned in a status report a little while ago that they will be lowered possibly when the next patch comes out? I cant remember too be certain this wasn't just someone's interpretation of what was said though.

-maybe add a tool or a command for unstuck vehicules would be interesting

This goes against all that DayZ is about, wait for mods until this is available I would think.

    - i think i try every way possible to repair a weel with the tire repair kit

Hold the repair kit in your hands, open the vehicles inventory then right click (could be left) on the wheel to repair, double wheels cant be repaired unless you use duct tape for a marginal increase.. ruined wheels cant be repaired at all even if they're pristine :) I take all the wheels off and back on once I have repaired them so it registered that they are repaired and doesn't compromise the vehicles handling.

    - Zombies and wolves pass through the doors

This is a client to server glitch I believe.. had it happen once and yes it got me killed! I play on pretty high ping servers and its not really an issue.. Is it a high pop server? I still haven't encountered it on those either, but maybe I haven't been in the right situation for it to occur.

     - we can't use a saline bag with IV kit on yourself ( and i dont find the way for fill and use a blood bag, i just can fill a seringe with blood but i can't use it on me ) , when you are alone and sick it's very hard to survive to the sickness

That's the DayZ way.. wait for mods for this to be changed I would think.

     - all water is drinkable and dont need a purification tablets

I know plenty of players that have contracted cholera when they drank water while not healthy so I'd say this isn't correct.

-Is there a blood, food and thirst gauge somewhere ? (menu, options...) i dont find it

No there isn't any blood gauge except in experimental servers.. food and thirst indicators are there when you open your inventory.. if you don't see them it means your nether thirsty or hydrated etc.

Hope this helps you enjoy the game a bit more.

I have not played Dayz since the .59 patch. tired of the long delays on such easy fixes 1)add wolves but not fix the grenades. Dayz dev you should b a shame of ur selves.

No dude.. you should be ashamed for being uninformed, then thinking your small narrow minded view has any right to be posted here!.. its called game development and the 101 of game development is when you add things you break things and then sometimes the things you break have a low priority for fixing.. simple as that!

Besides I know of people using grenades just fine.. what's your problem with them?

Oh.. its easier to whine about something than look into finding a solution maybe?

Take a cement pill and harden up would be my life advice for you I think!!!

Emuthreat and lrishjake and Thurman Murman, everyone here has their own playing style.  Just because you don't agree with mine doesn't make what I do a "dick move".  If that's the case, then that itself is a dick.  move.  But now I have a challenge.  Better guard your shit ;)

Again this is a survival game.  When I find tents, I take as much as I can, usually all ammo, weapons, food, med supplies and some clothing, car parts, etc.  The remaining gets tossed.  I'll relocate what I can.

It's situational.. find a dupers base or a clan hoarding gear for resale on public servers, maybe even just a group or person you have some major beef with, then yeah.. feel free to toss everything. Do this to any random camps you come across on a server and you'll possibly put the owners of the camp off playing on that server again, which isn't good for the well being of the server.. so it's a dick move. Much better to pick a little from it perhaps and hope nobody will notice, when you hit tough times you might be able to use their gear as a backup, or my personal favorite.. use the intel from knowing where they are based to your advantage!

Anyhow.. take this as an example of a dick move.. had some kiddie clan roll the two owners of the servers base and de-spawned it all, then boast they had done it to the admins base.. which they hadn't because the admins bases were perfectly safe still.. they only screwed over the people that pay for them to have a server to play on and undid all the work they put into the camp when they had a rare opportunity to actually play on their own server.. sounds like a dick move wouldn't you agree?  But how far removed from that is what your doing.. tossing everything just for the sake of it?

  13. I think its designed (even the buggy spawns like pistols everywhere in balota) to motivate players to go certain places and that creates possible interactions between players.. its a big map and if you find everything randomly in small section of it, then there's little reason to go anywhere else. They're mapping player movement and experimenting with it no doubt, but lets not forget that a lot still has to be added into the CLE so things will change. Being a fresh spawn on a high pop server isn't easy and sometimes its just luck that you find what you need quickly on your travels inland, not uncommon to reach the middle of the map with just bits and pieces on me, but once I've found a B95 and even just a handful of .308 I'm reasonably happy, and there's places I've found that will usually spawn them even if i have to search the same place twice. Usually finding a backpack (even a burlap for an improvised) is more of an issue, but i think that's become easier lately.

I did not know about apple trees, thanks

I starve or lack water to the point of death every single time I play. Am I doing something wrong? I never find containers to hold water. I rarely get berries off of bushes, I can't find food or a can opener ever, and when I do I eat and then not 2 minutes later "my stomach grumbles"

Once you get through the "I'm hungry" stage into the energized state,  you don't need so much food intake (depends a little on how much physical activity your character is doing) These status indicators saying hydrated/energized will show up when you open your inventory.. try and balance your food/water intake so both indicators turn bright green (this is how you regenerate blood, which in turn gives you a healthy status when enough time has passed) Fill up on apples until your get the message "you feel stuffed" comes up if your struggling, use this method until you learn other ways to gather food.. apples will be nerfed at some point so learn not to rely on them.

Most towns have water pumps to get safe, clean water (just walk up to it with nothing in your hands to drink straight from the pump). A cooking pot, bottle or canteen can be used to hold water by having them in your hands and selecting the same option at the pump.

This advice is what you need to do for water,  if you get desperate and need to travel while still having no water containers, a gas canister serves as a water vessel you can hold in your hands if need be.. you fill then empty it out two times to flush all the petrol out, be careful not to drink the whole thing (especially when opening doors) as its a lot of water and will make you throw up and then you'll lose whatever food and water is held in your stomach.

  15. Does it take up more inventory space with the stock attached?.. i didn't think it did for some reason.. been a while since i bothered using the stock though! This kind of thing will get sorted out during beta hopefully, devs too busy working on getting to beta at this stage, going by the status reports.

  16. Yeah stefos.. beware of the imitations, while they can have some merit.. they just don't compare with the experience you get from DayZ Standalone, the negatives seem to outweigh the positives in the end.

Development isn't ticking along like the other games using pre-existing engines but they're not doing too bad considering all they have to do.. and I've got faith the devs are getting on top of things in regards to building and implementing the new engines etc (still expect bugs and possible delays though).. strongly doubt BI would pull the plug at this point, this engines the future investment of their company.

As for hackers, I've been an admin on servers (private only) and can only confirm one group of people as actual hackers in that time, though there were suspicions about some others. Recently been playing high pop public and private servers and while there's certainly evidence they're out there, I've yet to cross paths with one.. wall glitchers seem more prevalent I would say, and that gets fixed with the new player controller coming shortly hopefully.

Biggest concern you'll have is the learning curve for simply surviving (forums are a great starting point to get you through that).. and then its surviving when you meet hostile players (experience is vital).. Next issue you'll face is, unless you have friends who play, does being a lone wolf suit you and time your able to allocate to playing? (this game can be a huge time sink depending on what you want to do, as you probably know from playing ARMA), or do you want to play as part of a group for the social aspect and comradery it offers?. (You can strike up a friendship in game possibly, jump on a servers ts/discord and meet and play DayZ with all sorts of people from anywhere). This is why so many complain there's nothing to do and no end game yet in my opinion.. if you join a group of regular players, your DayZ experience increases dramatically and as IRL, people have a way of keeping you busy most of the time.

End of the day its an open sandbox world.. I've been a survivor/hunter, protector of the innocent, bandit hunter, payday mask wearing kidnapper/torturer and even the leader of a cannibal group.. don't think I've even gotten past being a simple survivor in any of the other games I've got. It's up to you what you think you want from the game and then try and make it happen, I never even imagined doing half these things when I brought it and just like IMT said, I feel like I owe BI money for the thousands of hours of entertainment I've gotten from them!

  17. No problem.. was just a friendly nudge.. Ideas and even critics are welcome as long as they're polite and even Hicks will chime in occasionally.

DayZ developments a little like the actual game.. there isn't much hand holding, but that's about to change by the looks. I've seen bits in pieces from Trello during the past couple of years but only just had a proper look at it recently myself... was an eye opener!!!

  18. Hey dude.. good to see you've joined the forums and welcome.

A lot of what your talking about is coming with the new player controller due in a couple of patches time.. check out the status report from yesterday and you'll see the new melee animations being worked on at the moment. And i do believe there's even an RPG waiting to be included once animations are complete.. you'll find preview pics on DayZ Trello, google it and click load activity in the right hand corner and keep scrolling down until you find it.

  19. Was told the other day that the walkie talkie radio has a type function that works like sidechat and they were communicating with randoms on a full server, you just need someone else monitoring their radio, on the correct frequency for messages it looks like. Haven't tested it myself, but you cycle through direct, vehicles etc until you have radio using the "." key.. then push forward slash or back slash (been too long for me to remember which) and then type in a message from what I heard. Must have a charged battery in the walkie talkie i would presume.

I don´t think players would stay on the coast 24/7 simply because you add a random bullet inside a shotgun or magnum (I don´t say all the spawning shotguns should have ammo inside and there are already guns with full mags inside so I don´t get your point). Having said that, let´s be honest, most of the players just go north on empty servers to do pvp in the NWAF or TISY. The public servers are almost empty at coast.

You must be new.. just look at the lengths the devs have gone to get players moving from the coast.. i.e. practically no loot spawns there at the moment. Low tier rifles with internal mags i.e. Mosins with a high powered round, shotguns and Magnums spawning with ammo (big difference between those and a sporter .22 with a mag), ready to go, would simply enable players to stay at the coast and indulge in we want easy/ casual mode coastal warfare. Not much data from player movement to be gathered there, and pretty lonely for anyone inland so they'll migrate back to the coast also. Sad if you own/play on a private server and everyones playing on the coast as well, instead of taking their chances inland. Public is the place where coastal warfare is the preferred play style.. so i'd say no loot on the coast is working as intended then.

P.S. Its great that you have passion for the game and are inspired with new ideas and endless possibilities that come with being a relative newcomer to DayZ..  we've probably all been there at some point. Your putting yourself out there on a public forum, which is brave and I commend you on it.. but understand that you may have missed things tried beforehand, problems with players meta gaming the system and clashing ideas between the player base (like this subject). Take criticism on the the chin and move on.. the forums need people with your enthusiasm.
