How do I not panic/shake when I get in a gunfight?

I've got about 100hours with minimal PvP experience as I tend hang around the North West side of the map. unfortuntly the other day me and my friend encountered two other players in a small town just south of NWAF. We both panicked, our communication went down hill quick to the extent where he started shooting at me as I moved from one house cover to the next. Long story short he got away while I was shot. My hand was shaking, breathing quickly and I felt really vulnerable. Definitely learnt from that experience.

    No sound in-game post 0.50

Recently jumped back onto dayz after my month of exams, updated to 0.50 only to log into the game with no sound. I have sound in the menu screen and every other game on my PC, just none in DayZ. I thought it may of been my new headset but after turning off/ disconnecting it and playing sound through my speakers I get the same thing. My next step was then to go through all the audio options in my PC, steam, and DayZ settings, but all were fine. So I uninstalled and redownlaoded and came back with sound. However, the next day I came back and no sound again!!!???? Does anyone have any suggestions or explanation to why this is happening?

    Mosin Ammo

Try police Stations, fire stations, two story houses, sheds with the two blue doors, I've even found a few in the hospitals before.

    Improvised bandages

Yeah pretty good idea as often I've run out of rags as a new spawn and with a consistently desaturating screen its pretty hard to find rags/ bandages etc quick enough, but I think there would have to be a trade off, like a relatively large chance of it becoming infected. btw, Im pretty sure you can tear bandannas into rags already? could be wrong on that

    Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous

Just wondering what your source is for these prices?

    Just surviving

I tried this and learnt the hard way not to eat blue berries! I took a gamble and ate a heap at once (not a highlight of my decisions in DayZ)
  7. I've had a server restart sitting up on the crane just outside berenzio and when I logged back in I plummeted to the ground, halfway down I saw the crane render in.

Low FPS on a very good computer?

Updates aren't quick but they don't take ages either. They often address many things at once and over time it will get better and better. Give it a few months and you will be pulling decent FPS with specs like that. There is one thing you could try. Open up NVIDIA control panel>manage 3D settings>scroll down to virtual reality pre rendered frames>change it from let pplication choose to 1. I managed to get an extra of about 5fps on my 770, you might notice a bigger difference in yours.

Low FPS on a very good computer?

The game is fairly unoptimised to begin with and will preform differently on every setup even if it is good spec. Do you mind telling us your specs? If it continues, try to unistall and re-download, might just be a bad install.

    Shoes in experimental

I can just imagine "my feet are sore" coming up in the feed. If there was going to be a penalty what would it be? Possibly reduced overall speed while walking or running? feet start to bleed over time without shoes?

    Players start with a map

Is that the iSurvive app? I used it when I started playing DayZ, but quickly stopped using it because being lost is part of the learning experience (pretty sure I'm alone on that?) I used the map segments I found and have so far after about 80hours of gameplay I have mapped a basic structure of the map in my mind with the very western side of the map still a little unclear. I think starting with a map would encourage this type of game style.

    Get it off your chest!

I regularly follow fresh spawns to see what they do and how they go about their business. I rarely help, just watch form afar. Often they get brutally taken down by geared players/ bandits but I never avenge them, I just sit back and watch it all. Like how your not meant to interfere with nature and only be an observer.

    Boring.

Here's what I did when I started only a few months ago and it seemed to be fairly successful >Head inland, you will get lost without a map, but that's half the fun. Most players reside on the coast and often KOS >Hunger and thirst need to be delt with, but it lasts longer than you expect >Look for two story houses, supermarkets and blue medical houses/ hospitals >Follow your nose and if there is a short way and a long way, take the long way. As for the for boring bit, it takes time to build up situational awareness to know what you are actually doing. If you bought the game expecting action around every corner you thought wrong. If you want instant fun maybe play with a friend or find a clan that will help you.

    Broken .49 saved my life

I also get this glitch quite often, but only during the morning or afternoon in a server. Warned me of a few zombies but never a player yet. Also on a sidenote, I was under the impression that DayZ ran at 32bit for everyone? Task manager indicates the 32bit version running for me on w8.1 64bit
  15. Hi all I'm relatively new to DayZ, in fact new to the PC experience entirely. Strap yourselves in for a story/ question about the game. After buying and downloading DayZ, and putting now roughly something like 24hrs into the game, I've noticed random sound files/ FX playing randomly. These include zombie noises, players eating, a snapping sound that sounds like a bullet going past my head, reloading sound, opening a soda can, and drinking sounds. At first, I was scared, hiding in buildings and in bushes for ages as I thought I could here another player reloading/ drinking oust next to me, ready to shot me given the chance. But now after some experience with these sound glitches I grew complacent. Hearing these sounds no longer trigger fear and I just ignore them entirely. That was until the other day. At Gorka in the hospital, I'm crouched and sorting my inventory when I hear the usual sound of a player eating. Disregarding it as usual I run out, only to find a player in the room next to me eating powdered milk. In a panic, I ran, no ammo or melee weapon I felt like an easy target. This other player managed to cancel his action and pull out a gun (not sure what it was) and shot me in the back. I'm just wondering if anyone else experiences these random sound effects that only should occur when another player is doing an action near you. It is annoying in cities as I'm never quiet sure. I realise its an alpha, but I've seen no one else comment about it.
