I like the abandoned places of the map where i can just explore the world and fight zombies without the omnipresent fear of being sniped by some random dude who spends his whole DayZ career by camping one spot...

My history of gaming goes back to the glory old days with my 486,running duke nukem 3d and command&conquer while using DOS ;-) ...so you can say i'm kind of a survivor myself...
  1. Yeah, i will keep that in mind for the future. But in the past week one of my friends lost his char this way and yesterday our group of 4 chars were wiped. Server restart - we rejoined and everyone was a freshspawn again. I found some threads about the same problem in serveral forums which are dating back to january 2014....i'm not pissed because i lost my character to a bug, I'm very pissed because it seems to be a well-known problem, which hasn't been fixed yet.
  2. Got punched to death by a already dead Zombie. I hit her serveral times until she (female zombie) laid dead on the ground. Then i got hit again and again....went out of the building and the zombie corpse followed me and i got hit over and over again. i tried to attack the already dead body - nothing happened. i tried to hit the air around me...no sign of a successful hit...anyone with similar problems?
  3. As a fresh spawn you run around and have to rely on the stuff you find in the next village. And if 95% of the loot are hats, shoes and rotten fruits...it gets confusing and frustrating. You run for the next town, arrive barely alive just to face a ton of hats again. My character is 2 hours old and has 2 rags, a crowbar and a motorcycle helmet. I survived by eating apples and berries but i'm still pretty hungry. It's like the third or fourth char that faces starvation or bleeding to death after one unlucky zombiepunch ... This is my experience on the servers i joined. Perhaps they didn't restart quite a while and the normal loot was taken and automatically replaced by this crap or the developers like it this way...i don't know.
  4. Yes. I think this is a good approach. Searching for wells and apples/berries. But there is one point: you eat 4 apples and you are instantly getting hungry again. I know this is a sensitive part of this game. It shouldn't be too easy to just pick an apple and be energized again... But now you eat 8 apples a night and still starve until sunrise.
  5. I'm starving and have nothing to drink. But hey, i found 1 million hats (i mean like 1 or 2 in EVERY building), and more important: thousands of shoes and rotten fruits! It's great...we just need the feature "eat hat" to solve a lot of problems... -.- edit: It's obvious that the developers are testing the loot spawning (or respawning?) routine. But food and drinks seems to be very rare. I like the idea or rare guns and ammo, because i don't want everyone being equipped like Rambo. But looting one village and finding 15 hats, 6 pair of shoes, 5 rotten fruits and a weapon cleaning kit isn't really helpful.

    Stable - 0.47 Discussion

It’s really okay to add more Zeds to make this game more realistic. But at the current state of development, they are just buggy as hell. It unpredictable when the Zombie starts attacking. They glitch through everything (walls, building, trees), they hit you even if you are behind them. I don’t see a fresh spawn having ANY fun. Searching tons of building just to find nothing while fighting hords of buggy Zeds with your bare hands. But hey, you added tents….
  7. Yeah, nice patch. Nice Idea adding 10 times more buggy zombies. They see me no matter how i walk/crouch and even if there are walls in between. Hitting from 10m away is normal. I just lost 4 characters in an hour. I really don't see this patch working for fresh spawns with no equipment. Switching back to non-experimental right now.

    DayZ is peaceful

Hey fellow survivors, I started playing DayZ SA some time age with a friend. We have both regular and hardcore chars, but i prefer the hardcore mode. I like the abandoned places of the map where i can just explore the world and fight zombies without the omnipresent fear of being sniped by some random dude who spends his whole DayZ career by camping one spot... I try to stay healthy and energized and avoid using my weapon but if you are a damn bandit, I'm trying to change your status to "dead". ^^ My history of gaming goes back to the glory old days with my 486,running duke nukem 3d and command&conquer while using DOS ;-) ...so you can say i'm kind of a survivor myself...

    Inject random substances into humans

Well... i don't know if the game really needs more ways to torture somebody. Or why should you want to inject some random stuff into someone? The force-feed is creepy enough.
  10. I think you should invest some more money and get a 270x if you want to stick with AMD...or perhaps you can find some shop which wants to get rid of their old 7870 or 7950-cards... But to be honest i can't tell if the CPU is good enough. Last time i checked the benchmarks, Intel was way ahead... Edit: Just to put some thoughts into the main topic: I think DayZ SA is really worth a shot, if you like the idea of this game: - in my opinion, the search for stuff is a main task. You want to get more gear and you have to search it...this part makes most RPG and slack'n'slay-games like Diablo so addicting. - the tension. You can die anytime anywhere. Even if you lie in the middle of nowhere and there is one other player on the entire server: who says that he is NOT right behind you? Don't buy this game if you: - want instant action like Battlefield or Call of Duty. Just stay away. - can't stand the idea of starting all over and over again... - don't like bugs or anything irrational that can happen in an alpha-state game. If you want a perfect working game (which even most of the published games can't provide) don't travel to Chernarus... - want a story. Seriously...there is nothing that gives you any clue what has happened (or i haven't found it yet).

    Introduce yourselves

Just realized I posted in the wrong thread, because this one is about the mod. damn ^^ How many players are still playing the mod?

Signs to tell if someone is hostile

I think every kind of "confrontation" can end badly. I avoid other players or at least try to communicate while covered up behind trees/bushes/walls etc. You never know what the other one is up to. But if he seems - young - and/or dumb - and/or is obviously lying you should get away or shoot. Or at least I would.
