Obviously they're not going to know how many kilometres they walked or how many fires they started. Also, not everyone is as chatty and some might shoot me before I get a chance to ask 'm anything. I'm not talking about bloodtype, just fun stats. You know. Stats that are fun? Nothing that could help make the game easier, just stats that are ... Fun. stdout usually. Hence the reason why I don't see the problem with the game giving it to me. Anyhow, I could live perfectly fine without any such system being implemented ever but I wouldn't mind knowing more about the person I shot or even ending up with a little trophy that does not affect gameplay.

You guys get THAT excited when you see another player? I might get that excited if I was being shot at and not know where it was coming from. Which is completely counterproductive. It's a lot more fun to go into a situation completely calm because you are so much more in control of what happens next. Oh, here's your homework.

That isn't how I experience it. Most people who do not have anything on 'm in DayZ are very dangerous, they often invade your personal space and are eager to ask for things without you even mentioning that you have it on you. In this case the guy had a rifle and decent clothing so he probably wanted to keep that that but I think he was genuinly sorry about shooting me. Which he should be, of course.

Tbh I don't like the fake names much, I don't like being reminded of Capitalist brands while playing a videogame, it feels like ad placement. I know it's supposed to say "Sprite" even though it says "Spite". Might as well go the extra mile and get Sprite's approval and earn a buck ... Just give 'm generic names if you don't.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
King Raptor replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
Well O.K you didn't quite state it THAT way but if something isn't punished then it's condoned. I have a very black and white interpretation of the world. Yeah, that's the one I believe. -
Does the game become worse every update?
King Raptor replied to Bearserk's topic in General Discussion
Game is getting a little bit better each patch. You have to get excited by the small things otherwise you'll just grow depressed. -
There's no reason for zombies to appear out of thin air either ... What's your point?

This kind of detracted me from the point I wanted to make: I think DayZ shouldn't rely on the server to do trades. People just be forced to trust one another without game intervention, without fancy menus. After all, that is how you would trade in real-life when there are no creditcards. You put something on the table and so does the other guy. Then you take the goods when the price is agreed upon. After that, anything can happen. If people want to set up trade outpost, that's fine. Doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to loot and pillage it until nothing remains! That's DayZ.

Hm, maybe it's because I rarely, if ever, play alone. Most people tend to be friendly and reliable. I was stalking this one guy hoping he'd be a bandit (with three others accompanying me) and he figured out I was after him so he took a few shots at me and broke my leg. (He heard some strange sounds) I yelled out to him that I was friendly (haha) and he turned out to be really nervous and offered me all sorts of things once I had convinced him that we weren't hostile. I even mentioned the fact that I was stalking him. Didn't stop him from trying to pay damages! Of course, the three guys now pointing guns at him might have had something to do with it but he was really very friendly!

This reminds me of the time the media used ARMA footage in a documentary thinking it was real: http://www.edge-online.com/news/itv-uses-arma-2-footage-ira-documentary/

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

Meh, the way they felt it was not possible to punish people who duped the M4 hit a sour note with me. I will see if I can remember the thread the conversation took place in. Once I remember that, I will try to remember to post the link to it here. -
That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. So you interact with people but you do not trust them? Then why do you let them walk away alive? Obviously you trust them to the degree that they will not shoot you or rip you off. I'm not saying you have to go and share diary keys but anything that doesn't involve shooting as soon as you see 'm involves some level of trust.

I kind of like that idea, actually. Yeah, I suppose so. Although people seem to do so now any way Would be nice to know how long someone survived. I wouldn't mind some highly elaborate stats as well. Number of steps, number of fires started, number of shots fired ... You know, just fun stats. Doesn't matter to me if it's unrealistic, not going to affect gameplay, not going to invade privacy.

Is DayZ going to have microtransactions/DLC?
King Raptor replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Because it throws up barriers. In Battlefield 2142 you could buy the Northern Strike DLC but it required a separate server. At some point, it was very hard to find a full server because no one bought/played the DLC any more. Then there are the games that kick you from the server for not having the DLC installed. L These kind of horrible examples of money-grubbing have caused players to become antagonistic to any form of DLC and probably responsible for the attitude you quoted. Also, it depends on the form of game. What kind of DLC could possibly make DayZ more interesting/fair? It would either require separate servers (see example above of how that can go wrong)or it would give someone an edge over other players because they get to play on the same server with DLC enabled. Piracy is a myth made up by the record companies to find a scapegoat to push through new despotic measures to invade privacy and earn more money doing so.Piracy has been proven to increase sales Gamers want games so they'll pay for them one way or another. For the cheapskates, there are the summer and winter sales. Doubt that there are a lot of players playing pirated copies of DayZ atm. It being in alpha stage would mean the crackers would have to constantly release new cracks each time a new patch comes out. -

Robert Fisher? I'm with the Chernarus voluntary police force and I need you to come with us. -
You can trade but it requires trust, not game mechanics. Which is what DayZ is all about: trust in social interaction.

Is DayZ going to have microtransactions/DLC?
King Raptor replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Bohemia earns money through server renting from what I understand. And continuous sales, of course. DayZ has been in the "most-sold" on Steam for months now. This kind of marketing is what has made the gaming market as large as it is now, the only reason they started adding DLC and in-game currency is because capitalist pig-dog investors want to see more of a return. They do not give a shit about gamers or games in general. If DLC and micro-transaction has been there since the 90 s, gaming would have NEVER gone mainstream. You can run a business and earn a decent buck without going full-blown capitalist. Hence the reason why all the games that did have those things (they do/did exist) have disappeared into obscurity. I doubt Bohemia is that stupid given their track record. Their DLC has been on the pricey side but never contained unreasonable content as far as I know. They're more like the add-ons we used to see than the modern-day zero-day DLC rip-offs. -
Thing is that you can't know WHY they respawned. You can usually tell by someone's voice if they're honest or hiding something. On top of that, they have nothing to lose and you have everything to lose. At some point I asked for a guy's name and he gave me the finger and ran off. Obviously had something to hide. I chased him for a bit yelling about how I just wanted to be friends but alas.

You sound, and play, like a little girl. Especially the part where you throw your gun away.

You're not that great at Russian but you're better at it than most people who do not speak Russian. I read that right, right?

Sounds like a good way to break legs!

Is anyone in DayZ Standalone friendly?
King Raptor replied to BoBoSlap's topic in New Player Discussion
We run into friendly people all the time. I've met more friendly people in the game than hostile people. Of course, I emanate an aura of fear and respect so yeah. People who just spawned have very little to lose and you should treat 'm as a threat if you have good gear on you.
