You could make one of these things yourself using cloth and charcoal and perhaps sand. And a straw of sorts, like bamboo or whatever. What's with all the factory-manufactured solutions?
-
The problem is that there is currently little incentive to go outwards so everyone clusterfucks in the north-east. Once there are vehicles tents work, you will see people spread out more and 40 players will seem like a lot more. Adding players right now would just mean a bigger clusterfuck and even more lag. But yeah, I hope they do increase the number at some point to like 80 or something. I don t care if I constantly run into people, increases the danger level.

Hell no. You should seriously read up on privacy. Parents should just keep an eye on what their shitty brood is doing and game developers should invest more in battling cheaters in the court room. If the music industry can do it, why can't game publishers?

Add weapon slings and get rid of weapon slots
King Raptor replied to scriptfactory's topic in Suggestions
Jagged Alliance? Fallout 1? System Shock 2? Deus Ex ? All these games had more intuitive and more responsive USER INTERFACES. Did I say the word ENGINE, by the way? Nope: I said USER INTERFACE. USER INTERFACE IS NOT THE SAME AS AN ENGINE. Do NOT twist my words and make me look like a n00b when in fact you don't understand the jargon. The user interface in DayZ is downright broken and feels ancient. Responsiveness goes down the toilet way too often, the dropping and dragging is just way too slow for an FPS game where speed is essential and the inventory management reeks of something that comes out of a mod and not a million dollar budget videogame. It is the same interface they used in the mod yet even more broken at this point. Anyhow, I assume they're going to overhaul the thing completely but please, let's not make it any more difficult and convoluted than it already is. This is NOT hardcore, it is poor interface design. Weapon slots are simply necessary for quick weapon switching. I think there should be way more quick keys as well. We have an entire keyboard to our disposal yet we're dragging and dropping with huge amounts of lag and no way to keep an oversight of the battlefield because we're forced to stare at a representation of ourselves. (How realistic is that, any way?) If you force people to first find a sling before they can put a weapon on their back, they could theoretically spend their entire (game)life without ever being able to put their weapon down, needlessly increasing the workload and making the game look more like work than fun. Besides, the visual representation of the avatar putting the gun on his back is just that: a visual representation. You can roleplay he puts it in his hand or balances it on the tip of his nose, right? Besides that, how do you know it's on your back and floating? Because you play on softcore servers. That's not very hardcore of you! -
Where have you found larger backpacks?
King Raptor replied to octarine's topic in General Discussion
You can find hunting and mountain backpacks in barracks. We run into them very often in those places. -
If anything, they'll be more scared 'cause they didn't keep up with their tetanus shots!
-
You mean looking through the sights when you say weapon drawn, right? Because I've rolled around a few times and never noticed this behaviour but I can't remember whether I was looking through the sights or not ...
-
Not really. For all you know, I might be one. Why does it bother you so much what people think about you? Anyhow, what kind of response did you think showing off that M4 would get? You know it's shrowded in controversy because of the glitchy mags, you know it's rare (I believe even impossible) to obtain by looting it and you offer no explanation as to how you found it. How could you think that would NOT backfire?
-
Are you going to be in for a few surprises!
-
"Accusations"? Haha. So... You get this edgy when people mention duping? Hmmm.... That's kind of ... suspicious, wouldn't you say?

I hate insta-kills in videogames. They often require little to no skill to use in comparison to the amount of damage you can inflict with 'm. Insta-knocksout would piss me off too, people running around you like crazy hoping to get a lucky hit in .. They already do that and it's retarded, the only reason you can't keep up with it and shoot 'm in the stomach is because it's a videogame where you can run and alter direction way too fast.

I don't like people with motorcycle helmets and fresh spawns. The latter make me nervous. Other than that, it's cool baby.

Well, I just did! So you're angry because, in general, not everyone is a Germanic or Slavic? Are you saying you would treat the English better if they spoke German or were Slavic? Anyhow to get on topic: I don't see in how that makes you a "hero 2.0", by the way. It's actually a pretty lame thing to do. Do you inform them of the fact that you are going to shoot them if they do not provide you with the right answer? I couldn't quite tell from the movie.

So me and a friend went on a two-day looting rampage that took us across a lot of military bases and even an airfield and on about 2 to 4 different servers, filled to the brim (we always play on high population servers, if the server pop goes below 30 or so we'll bail ship) we ran into absolutely NO-ONE. Not a single gun shot, no suspicious sounds, no thrills. Nuffin'. Not at Stary Sobor, not at Zelenagorsk, not at Balota, not at Novelsky, not at Chapaevsk, not at Dubky and not at Pusta (where we ended for today.) We did find some opened doors at the southern airfield and the military base at zelenagorsk but that was the only sign of player activity. (You can pretty much figure the route we took, we took a few stops inbetween to go sight-seeing and explore places we hadn't been to for a while) My theory is that now with the spawning happening only in the north-east, people rarely bother coming down to these places except for a few dedicated looters. I hope the limited number of spawn points are a bug/test phase because this is disheartening to say the least. And damn boring.

Seriously doubt there would be any repercussion to telling someone to go off themselves unless you included instructions on how to do so which may or may not be illegal depending on the country you are in. And even then, this ain't facebook. What are the cops going to do: issue a warrant for a guy called MadWookie? Find police uniforms in DayZ and slap cuffs on him? Write his ISP letters? You shouldn't. If everyone gave him the same response maybe he'd review his choices in life and not bother other players with his cheating behaviour. Who cares how you delivered the message? It's the Internet, worse things are happening in the world. For example, did you know that there are still people who think Capitalism is a good thing? Oh you re just angry because we talked trash about your gaming rig! :beans:

Sure. How many guys do you have and what server do you play on?
-
You should have told him yes, dated his sister and then leave her standing at the altar yelling "GO DUPE A HUSBAND!" as you run off. That oughta get the message across. Seriously, waste no more time on arguing over steam! TCB! Btw, I totally duped the shit out of things when I played Diablo 1. He's right, it is indeed fun. I stopped cheating when I turned 12, though. But yeah, I can imagine how a bunch of 13-year-olds think it's the shit. Nothing you can do about it.
-
Are you sure? We would need a little proof to verify the statement.
-
I thought you were going to suggest holding three at the same time. Like tape 'm together or something? BOOYA!
-
You bet cha I want vehicles! And choppahs! Just nothing advanced, it has to be civilian equipment. No motion tracking, no smart missiles, whatever. Although an armoured car would be kinda cool ... For the guy driving it. Oh I would like a functioning gearbox, though. Nothing more annoying than going top-speed on a country road.

I recall it being way more difficult to survive in the mod than it ever was in SA. I think the elements will become a large threat as the game progresses. On top of that, the zombies will become a huge danger as well. Yesterday we were fighting someone and a zombie effectively prevented my squadmate from aiding me. It was a nuisance this time around but I can imagine he would have had to fee the scene if there had been more. It's too early to tell what DayZ will be like but I think it'll be man versus environment where co-operation becomes important, especially when it comes to medical supplies. Or a dog-eat-dog kind of world because people want to keep their stuff \

Being a dick of a human being is reward enough for most! I shot a guy in the neck yesterday. I was going to communicate with him but we suspected having been under fire by him before and I noticed he had a long-range scope on his gun so I decided to off him. (If you're reading this: Stay out of Novodmitrovsk and away from the boys in blue!) It wasn't really sniping as I ended up less than 50m away from him but hey, I used a long-range scope to plant the kill shot! Have to say the hunt for him was kinda exciting. It's kind of like hunting for more intelligent deer.

The "server bubble system"? What is that?
