At the behest of a possible solution in a couple other threads, I reinstalled Windows and booted up DayZ. It works. My guess is that somewhere an outdated driver or otherwise key component had not been fully uninstalled from my computer and had been messing with DayZ launching somehow? I'm not entirely sure, but this is what has worked for me.

Similar issue here as well. Tried all of the suggestions here, as well the basic troubleshooting guide Steam gives here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6218-USFX-5568. Steam will say "Preparing to launch Day Z" and nothing will happen afterwards, no processes detected with Windows Task Manager. In addition, this is the only game on Steam which has a problem like this. Should I still go to Steam for support? Is this a DayZ only problem or Steam problem? Would appreciate any help and/or attention to this problem.
