Barrel stuck in hands and I got no idea what to do
sanguine00 replied to yazar8's topic in General Discussion
Sadly the only fix for this right now is to meet your maker: https://feedback.bistudio.com/T113786 -
DayZ is fullscreen but off-center and partially on another monitor. Any suggestions on how to fix?
sanguine00 replied to Flaven's topic in Troubleshooting
When this happened to me, it was because a windows application on the other monitor was butting up against the edge of my primary monitor (and bleeding slightly into it). It sounds silly, but I moved the window away from the edge and the issue stopped happening. This wasn't a coincidence, either. I was able to reproduce the behavior. -
Status Report - 21 February 2017

Thanks for the report. I can sense the excitement from the devs which makes me pretty excited, too. Can't wait to see the new stuff! -
What is the Best Vid Capture for DayZ
sanguine00 replied to Storymaster's topic in General Discussion
To me the resolution switch fix is worth it for using ShadowPlay when you consider otherwise ease of use and video quality. Your other option would be OBS Studio. OBS is more complex than ShadowPlay, but it's pretty good. Just note that for full-screen capture of DayZ you need to: Enable the anti-cheat compatibility Disable Anti-aliasing in-game. Otherwise you'll just get a black screen. https://obsproject.com/ -
A Few Thoughts on.. Bugfixing, Priorities, and Beta
sanguine00 replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
Thanks Hicks. Don't work your tushes too hard. -
It's mainly intended to help modders test their creations. Personally I would probably only use it rarely for testing weapons, mechanics, etc. But yeah I would never play it to get a "DayZ experience", even if I was only intending to PvE, I would go on a server.
-
I believe the way it will work is when you launch single player mode, a custom (perhaps virtualized?) instance of the DayZ server code runs locally on your machine, and your client connects to it.

Yeah, that was my friend Rich ("don't shoot me, I'm eating!"). lol. I actually tried to shoot you. I missed! :D -
Hold up tips - ep#1 - 1pp - Tactical / Narrative commentary [9:00]

Both holdups were examples of how the game's current animation system is...less than adequate. The first guy actually picked a good moment to try to escape, but it took too long to get up and start moving. The second guy probably had his gun in his hands when he started eating, and the game forces the gun back into your hands after the action completes. He didn't have a chance. But he was also a murderer, so no sympathy here. :) Always love watching and learning from your holdup videos. -
The Network Bubble Test - Has the player render distance increased lately? (and tent render distance)
sanguine00 replied to BeaverProductions's topic in Gallery
Thanks for recording your experiment. Do tents only render in at 150m when looking with the naked eye, or scoped as well? Seems awfully shallow, but maybe it makes it too easy to find camps if they render in at a great distance. Also, even if player render distance hasn't been increased, it sure seems like I see more buildings/trees in the distance than I used to. I haven't changed my graphics settings, either, so it seems like they unlocked additional view distance server-side. Edit: Also, not that it matters, but out of curiosity are you running the 32-bit or 64-bit client? -
Yeah, I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, it empowers the user because we can see our hands as an extra inventory slot which gives us more flexibility. On the other hand, it's more difficult to keep track of such things in a video game with an unavoidably cumbersome inventory gui, as opposed to real life where we would have all of our senses working for us. I've gotten used to it and made a habit of keeping track of what's in my hands and where it can go in my inventory if I remove it from my hands. But I still see people with thousands of hours in the game losing items because of it, which tells me it's not really ideal.

I think that's how it used to work when Standalone first came out. You'd put an item in your hands and it would still show in your inventory but with a hands icon over it (or something like that). At some point they decided to go with realism® and make it so that if something is in your hands, then the space it took in your inventory is free and can theoretically become occupied by something else.

Looting Talk - A discussion on DayZ Standalone looting //Problems and Solutions
sanguine00 replied to BeaverProductions's topic in Gallery
I wholeheartedly agree with the notion of using the interesting landmarks of Chernarus (like Riffy) to attract players with good loot. I'm hoping that the improved loot situation at Skalisty Island is a preview of this. Loot regions are fine, but have some spotty areas anywhere on the map where you can hope to find something unexpected. The small military camps are very cool for this, and other landmarks like Riffy, prison Island, the towers in Novo/Cherno, Green Mountain, etc. could be used for this as well. I get ranty too when I talk about the CLE, but I still have hope that they will figure out how to leverage it to make looting anywhere on the map feel worthwhile and unpredictable. -
About tents full of gear (private or public) and loot to find on map
sanguine00 replied to purpple's topic in General Discussion
I suspect he means that some items, when stored in tents/barrels/inventory do count against the server maximum. So if the SVD is tagged to have a "global rarity" of 2, and 2 are stored in a barrel, then those are the only ones that will exist on the server. The exception being if someone brings one over from another server on the same hive, then it would circulate through the economy until it despawns or a player takes it to another server. -
Sorry chief. Car sound makes me think of horns and I didn't think you'd take my reply seriously. i hope you get functioning car radios someday. :)

frames dropping in certain areas (tell me its not just me :))
sanguine00 replied to mjf6866's topic in Troubleshooting
It's probably not just you. If you're monitoring your GPU when you get the frame drops you'll probably notice the game is using much less of your GPU than when you're getting a full 60fps. Hopefully it just means additional optimization is needed in those areas of the map. -
ISSUE WITH WOLVES!!! MUST READ!!!!
sanguine00 replied to noobgamer99991's topic in General Discussion
Acknowledged as a known issue on the Feedback Tracker: https://feedback.bistudio.com/T122564 -
It's not needed to enjoy the game, but it's needed to enjoy the game indefinitely. In your OP you identified yourself as a "PvE player", which implies that you were interested in a single-player, built-in-content-only experience. If you do want player interaction, but no PvP, you should look into some of the RP communities. I wish I could recommend one to you, but I'm terrible at RP and the communities I know of are rife with silly drama about who is playing properly and who isn't.
-
Built-in content is a finite resource. If you're only playing the game for PvE, then it is only a matter of time before you're done with it, whether that be 60, 600, or 6000 hours, it'll eventually happen. What makes DayZ a provider of perpetual enjoyment is interaction with other players (not just PvP, but that's obviously part of it). If you're not interested in player interaction, then you will play it and move on until new content is released - just like with any other game.

Yeah I could do without the stamina bar and definitely the audio meter. I like the status trend icons, though. Right on. Happy New Year!

I would be very surprised if the HUD showed this information. I think it will show if you're regenerating or losing blood/health, but not the amount you have. From what I've seen, the HUD will not give you any more information than you can already get from the inventory screen or text spam, except for the stamina bar, and stamina isn't really implemented, yet. As far as your overall concern regarding the game being dumbed down, it's all just a matter of what you think DayZ is compared to what Bohemia thinks it is. Obviously the point of the game is to be harsh and unforgiving, but that doesn't mean it can't be too much so. I think, from what I've seen, their goal is to make the game difficult, but the game's difficulty should be as a result of the environment and other survivors - it should not be exacerbated by the game's own systems and mechanics. If that means adding features to prevent this, then so be it. I'm sure there will be mods that strip away some of these features. It will be interesting to see if those mods gain any traction.
-
I guess I don't see how a toggle-able, minimalist HUD is such a huge departure from this. It's the same information, it removes the need for most, if not all of the text spam, and you can hide it. You argued earlier that people who choose to hide it by default are at a disadvantage. When you consider the kind of information on display, I really don't think that's the case. It's not like you won't know the information the HUD provides whenever you want to - just bring it up and then hide it again. It's not much different than pulling up the inventory screen except you don't have to opt in to all of the inventory information that you're not interested in at that time, plus it's more aesthetically pleasing (which granted is a matter of opinion: mine :). Besides, if by hiding the HUD you become good at using the in-game cues to gauge aspects your status, then you may actually have the advantage over other players who have to glance at their HUD.

M4's are general military spawns, but you are most likely to find one at Tisy military base. Don't forget to check the enterable storage containers. VSSessess have been known to spawn in the boots of cars in Northwestern towns (also UMPs and FALs). Crazy, huh? I've only seen ammo at Russian helis but that's just my own experience.

Oh I was most-definitely attacking your identity and values. Let there be no doubt. /sarcasm I give you the launch trailer:
