    Less KOS in Hardcore servers?

Come to Novodmitrovsk when the FOG clan is in town... We require a heavy toll if you want to explore our town and most end up paying with their lives! Punisher
  2. billyjo

    Why..

When you rent a server you agree to the terms, if you can't live with the terms then don't rent it. You don't own it you're paying for the privilage to rent it. Rules are rules and the people that rent them are aware of them going in. At one point I joined a clan that kicked people and locked the server to get geared up, or would reset it if they got killed and would even go as far as kicking people if they got pinned down. I left that clan because to me that wasn't what the game was about. The clan I'm in now plays 100% legit and I couldn't be happier!

    Why does everyone kill me?!

I find these pro vs. con KOS threads amusing. I think it's safe to assume anyone that's been on the forum or played the game for any length of time knows where the maps hotspots are. If you stay out of those areas along with the hight loot areas the chance of it happening to you greatly decreases. If you show a little caution to your approach of places then the chances you might get killed become even less likely. Just because you want to interact with someone in the game doesn't mean they want to interact with you. If I'm on my way to meet my friends in another town and I don't know you I'll try to avoid you. I don't know how many times I've had someone who wants to be friendly follow me and constantly try to engage me in coversation. Obviously me running away or trying to avoid you wasn't clue enough for you so if you keep on I'll kill you. Then you'll complain you got killed while trying to be friendly when the truth is you got killed because you couldn't take a hint. One more thing on killing fresh spaws, if you're in one of the hot spot cities then there is a good chance that the fresh spawn was killed in combat and just trying to get back to their gear or get gear quickly. If someone even looks in my direction under those circumstances they're going to be spawing somewhere else shortly.

I played for several hours last night and luckily I haven't been having the problems some people have been experiencing, for me it's been a good update. I spawned into Cernaya Polana to being attacked by zombies, ran a bit and figured out where I was. Got to the fire station and got an axe, shotgun, food and clothing got energized and hydrated. Headed to Torovo where I found an SKS and ammo. From there worked my way West, hitting the good spots along the way. Servograd is much improved, found a police care in a shed! Headed to NWAF encountered a friendly player (he wasn't armed) and upgraded all my gear. From there went to the Vybor military base and then Vybor, headed to the far North to where the rumored new military base might be but didn't see anything in the area. Server reset and I now have an AKM, drum mag and am almost as kitted as I was before the wipe. Also found a Russian chopper crash but the only loot was a green tactical vest. For me and my friend this update is business as usual with some improvements and added feature, please keep up the good work devs! Punisher
  5. Send me a PM and I will add you on Steam, I can guarentee we will run into a hacker. I mean no disrespect but to close your eyes is wrong and my offer to play for a few hours tonight is legit.
  6. It happened again last night, the same hacker that has been following our clan showed up. We had members on 2 different servers and we got word that EVERYONE on the first server was killed and killed again almost immediately upon spawning. Then he came to our server, we saw the same message "So and so is loosing connection" (I didn't post his name). I believe when it says he's losing connection he is teleporting to us. Then one member was killed and then another. We logged out, all in all he killed 10 of our members several times. When he first joins and we have gear he kills us with a single head shot and nobody sees him. After we're respawned he follows us and shoots our legs to break them. He then stands over us shouting racial slurs in a variety of accents. We started switching servers to lesser and lesser populations to try and figure out his steam name which we were able to do with 100% certainy. Once we knew his name we were calling him out after he would break our legs, he then said "I guess you guys are using the ESP hack too" not sure how much more clear it has to be. I sent Sable the BE rep here a PM so I hope that he follows up on it, right now for our clan the game is unplayable when this guy feels the need to troll us.
  7. I'm a relitively new player (only been playing since .45) and in the beginning I thought the chance of running into a hacker was rare. Most of my play was done outside of the poplular cities on low population servers because I was trying to avoid players. After I got familiar with the game I started making friends and adventuring into the bigger cities. About once ever other week or so I would have an unexplainable death and just figured someone was much more stealthy than me. Then I started to realize I was having a lot more "mystery" deaths so I went to steam and looked at my recent players. It was there that I discovered how preveliant hacking was, almost everytime I had a "mystery" death there would be a previous player with screen shots of hacks on their steam profiles. I reported them to steam and don't know if anything ever became of it. Now fast forwarding to the last couple of weeks. EVERY day I'm killed by a hacker/glitcher whatever you want to call it. In the last 3 days my group has killed 6 people with hacked M4's and tons of gernades. Last night was the straw that broke the camels back. 6 of us had Svet on lock down when a few shots rang out. First guy reports I'm dead from one shot, then a second, then me and then in less than 5 minutes 6 of us were killed with a single round by someone NOBODY could see. I can say for a fact that myself and another guy were watching the stairs and each other, we had nothing visible from the windows and we still died. I tried to run back to get my gear (as did the rest) and we were met instantly and killed with a single shot to the head. The 3rd time I tried to get to my gear I saw a guy in the field outside Svet, I was watching him. I couldn't figure out what he was doing, I thought he was going to log or messing with his inventory. He then turns and looks right at me an starts firing with unlimited ammo out of the M4. I'm atleast 300 meters away and I start to run (I was still a fresh spawn). He keeps shooting at me and he hits me a couple of times before breaking my legs. It only takes about 5 seconds before he is next to me and I didn't see how he got there because I was trying to roll away. I called him some dirty names and asked him why he hacked. The first thing he said is that he seeks out clans to kill because they cry so much when he kills them. Then he finally said "Have you played DayZ long, if you don't hack or dupe you can't survive and that's no fun!" Next thing I heard was about 300 rounds of M4 being shot, he laughed and finished me off. It is so VERY frustrating to have this happen several times a night. I wish they would do a wipe everyday, this I could deal with. It's an alpha so I can deal with all of the other stuff but the hacking... Anyone that doesn't believe that hackers aren't that previlant can send me a PM and I'll meet up with them and roll into Svet on any high population server and show them. PLEASE stop hacking, I LOVE this game but I'm not sure how much longer i can take this. Punisher

    Friendly? oh please..

Yesterday a group of Foggers and I were hanging out in a western town. We had the area pretty well covered when we heard something in game chat. It was a guy claiming to be friendly, we've been shot at and killed enough to know it's not often someone is "truly" friendly and we suspected a trap because we had already engaged several other players there. One of our guys talked to him for about 5 minutes before they agreed to meet out in the open. Our guy disrobed to give this random a sense of security, the random showed himself with his gun on his back and the crack from a Mosin could be heard as his body crumpled to the ground. After checking the area we came to the determination that this guy was truly sincere with his intentions and I believe we honestly all felt badly about killing him. There are some friendlies out there it's just hard to find them with all the random KOS going on, I wouldn't blame the guy that died at all if he became a KOS after that encounter.

    Experimental Branch: 0.48 Discussion

It was in the north, 4 kilometers from anything that might have loot and 1 kilometer from the edge of the map. I believe I was robbed but it's blows my mind that anyone would have been out there let alone see it.

    Experimental Branch: 0.48 Discussion

On Sunday I decided it was time to test the persistant storage feature on experimental and set out to find a tent. My reasoning for such was because loot is hard to find on experimental and anything extra could be stored for when myself or my friends needed something. After about 2 hours I found a tent and had an idea where I wanted to place it. Once I got there I set it up and took it down more than 2 dozen times trying to get it into just the right spot that nobody would happen upon it. I went out and killed a couple of animals and stocked the tent with the meat, an extra gun and ammo I had and went back about my way. There was a server restart so I went back to see if it was stil there and it was, all was good. The only thing when I went back was at first I couldn't see the items I had placed in it until I went all the way to the back of the tent. All the slots were full! I also couldn't close the tent but didn't really see this as an issue. When I got home from work yesterday I went to the spot of my beloved tent and it was gone! Almost all of the items that were in it were stacked on top of each other which were 20 high. The gun and extra ammo were gone. I can't for the life of me imagine how someone could have found it but I know it's possible so I went to a spot where I could see the remaining loot from and watched for about an hour. No sign of anyone so I went about my business to return again later and all of the other items were gone. So my question is are tents working in experimental and does anyone have any first hand knowledge with tents in experimental only? Do you think it was a glitch or do you think someone actually found my stash that quickly and stole all of my loot? Punisher

    A shoutout...

I don't think the KOS or server hoppers get enough credit! This afternoon a friend and myself where watching a military base for about 10 or 15 minutes to see if anyone was running about. No movement, the coast must be clear. We run into the barracks and begin looting, when all of the sudden full auto fire erupts. A guy outside the barracks is trying to shoot me through the window without even a hello  Where did that guy come from? I believe he just spawned in but if I'm wrong I'm sorry! We turn our attention to the door and wait about 5 minutes talking about our options when I see his shadow outside the door. The tension is high and the door opens and I let out a string of about 15 rounds from my newly acquired AK 101. Down he goes, we bust out of the barracks for a quick sweep before inspecting the body. What we found was a walking armory, he had an AK 101 fully kitted out but only 1 magazine. He had 75 round drum magazine, 5 30 round AKM mags, an amphibian with 9 mags and a whole host of other things. I'd like to give you a shout out for skipping all the formalities and trying to kill me so I could try the AK 101 which I'm sure you could attest to worked pretty well. I'd also like to thank you for not being friendly because I have enough people on my friends list. I would also like to thank you for carrying all of those items to one place and letting us have them all, LMAO Just so you know it could have gone VERY different. The last guy I ran into at a barracks I shot while he ran in and I put him down but he wasn't dead. He came over the open mic and stated he was friendly and asked if I would patch him up :o I examined him and he was armed to the teeth so I took his AKM and put it into the trees, patched him, fed him and watched him come to. Now the only reason I helped him is because he never fired a round at me even though he had his gun out. He thanked me and asked if he could have his weapon back. I pointed to where I put it while I ran off, he thanked me and we went about our ways...everyone has choices. It's the greatest part about DayZ. Punisher-Sir

    Bullet shock/damage values lowered?

It's funny how people get all worked up over ballistics and bullet penetration. The mk262mod1 round referenced above uses a Sierra Match King bullet that weights 77 grains. This bullet, as the name implies is a target round not a hunting round because it is not designed to expand like a normal hunting bullet. You can look on Sierra's website or any one of their reloading manuals if you need further confirmation. When a bullet expands like most hunting bullets or ammunition used by law enforcement it leaves a wound channel in addition to the hydrastatic shock. The wound channel is what lets all the bodily fluids run out which result in the death of whatever is shot. NATO dictates that expanding type bullets can't be used because they are deemed to be inhumane which is why military ammo is FMJ, ball type or something that won't expand. There are millions of dollars a year spent by ammunition companies trying to design a bullet for self defense purposes that will penetrate clothing (clothing clogs the tip of a hollow point which can keep in from expanding) and still allow it to expand but not expand so much that it breaks up. The bullet also needs to penetrate because if you shoot someone in the arm without penetration the bullet can't get into the vital organs. Most of the modern defensive ammo does this, the FBI tests this and is the standard for these tests. They also do different barrier tests as well to see how a bullet will perform after going through things like windshield glass, sheet rock or car doors. This information can be looked up if interested. Long story short is you're not going to shoot an elephant with a 22 because it doesn't have the power to do the job. The 375 H&H is the minimum caliber allowed around the world for this type of work. Most of the time when shooting any dangerous game the proven technique is to either get a round into the brain or break the animals front shoulders so that it can't charge you but that is a whole different bullet technology.
