And there is a downside to the extent that a lot of servers (especially persistent ones) have sweet FA loot. It's just luck of the draw. -
Getting fed up with this blatant bullying of people who disagree with alpha priorities. Here's the thing. The way that things are, isn't necessarily the way that things should be.

This seems like a pretty well thought out ranking to me. The one thing you don't mention about the M4 is its modular nature, because of which it's also the most adaptable gun in the game. Of course it's not a sniper, but full MagPul and an ACOG leaves you with a very good mid range gun, while CQB and red dot, or iron sights is an excellent close in weapon - preferable to an SMG in some ways. Of course the AKs have different attachments, but these seem to have less effect than the M4 ones IME.

If you mean people who determinedly look for (or used to look for...) crash sites so we can get the gear we like and trade parts...why is that 'sad'? Bipods haven't spawned since 0.48. Amphibias, M4s. M4 accessories and FNXs are incredibly rare because they spawn at UH60 heli crash sites, which are very rare compared to 0.48, or even 0.49. Agree that AK parts and PSOs also seem much more rare to me. I think much of anyone's luck with this is down to whether they find a Christmas server.

Editing. Found Mosin and had to dump AKM for it, Would still like to trade full AK101 mag either for LRS or protector case. Also have just clocked Smiley's location :D . Thanks.

Re-read my post please. It does not take a rocket (I'm assuming that's not an intentional pun btw) scientist to see that 'realism' can be a slippery slope to a game (NB, game) with far too many mechanical processes for the player to manage, to the extent that managing them takes over from running around, exploring, looting, huntin', shootin', and fishin', and all those other things we enjoy. If we have pooping, we'll have to have peeing too btw. Never mind the griefers, imagine what the hackers will be able to do with this. Half of us will just run around being constantly incontinent... -

I don't really PvP unless I'm forced to, and I'm not against survival elements of the game - like many of those you mention. I'm not against pooping because it's "wrong". I'm against it because (i) I think development of the game should have other priorities, but also (ii) it's taking realism to a degree where it overtakes fun. If you'd really like to play a pooping simulator, then I'm not sure what that says about you. -

Ah, so you're on the "can't criticise development priorities because hasn't worked in software development" team, huh? I quite like the sound of the "invest more in sorting out the problems first" team - you know, the one that operates quite effectively in many organisations and projects. -

Nor can I, because it's a seriously stupid idea. With all that's currently broken, bugged and glitched, adding pooping would seem like a laughable distortion of priorities. -

As I keep banging on about, something is definitely up with heli crashes. Either something to do with persistence (is that possible?), or because they've been lumped in with police car spawns, making their probability even less than it was in 0.49. If that's deliberate, such that they're a once in a blue moon sight, then fair enough, but it would be very helpful to be clear about what's going on. Maybe nothing has changed, but my experience and that of others would suggest otherwise. -

Lol same. I'm playing pretty...conservatively right now. To OP, I think the consensus is that while UH60 crash sites do still spawn (I've seen one, and one only in 0.50 - others have been more lucky), they are more rare even than in 0.49, when they were pretty rare. My suspicion is that their probability is not only mixed in with Mi-8 spawns now, but also with police cars. I've yet to see any official confirmation or comment on that though. -
Thank God we had the global 0.49 wipe that got rid of all this nonsense... <_<
