Nope. You just have to go down the list, adding them to your favourites. 10% sounds about right to me. Just to add to your woes, some servers describing themselves as 'persistence:on' are probably persistence off.

So, to summarise the current rules of heli hinting go like this: 1. The crash models don't spawn on persistent servers, although there are reports that the loot does - you just have to literally run over it. The occasional report of a persistent server spawning crashes is probably because persistence has been turned off without the server title being changed to reflect this. 2. Crash sites definitely do spawn on non-persistent servers, in pretty much the same places we all know. If my recent experience is anything to go by, with roughly the same frequency as in 0.49 (there seem to be more, if anything, than 0.50). In some cases there may be something really weird going on where, like Nails, you might get very lucky and find more than three per restart. 3. UH-1Ys seem marginally more common than Mi-8s (a good thing from my POV). 4. Mi-8s spawn slightly better loot than the old stuck-in-the-ground models, but still not brilliant. 4. UH-1Ys are spawning pretty much the same loot as their Blackhawk predecessors, with the addition of the AUG. 5. AUGs are now spawning as pristine, whereas, presumably before a recent update, they only spawned as worn or worse.

Sounds like that's because it was an Mi-8 site - a non-smoking Russian chopper. They've never spawned great loot, except an occasional AK, or a PSO-1. And even more occasionally, of course, SMERSH vests. You'll need to find a smoking UH-1Y for those elusive M4s and AUGs... Apologies if you already know this.

I've never seen an untied (ie facemask) bandana. Where do they spawn? (DayZDB doesn't seem to want to tell me).

Have: M4A1 (W), with MP guard (black, W), MP stock (black, P), M68 optics (P), 40rnd mag (P, full) This is as nice an M4 as I've ever offered for trade. All other items listed below are separate (have two M68 optics). Hang on, 10 crash sites on a single server? Never heard of that before, and theoretically impossible as only three spawn per restart. Yes, something really is up with chopper crashes.... :huh:

AUGs seem to come in pairs. I found a site this evening with two. After a little headscratching I decided to stick with my spare M4, at least until there's a possibility of pristine AUGs and some attachments. The scope is horrible. Edit: Just found a pristine one. Thought they only spawned as worn or worse. Still couldn't convince myself to take it over my spare M4...

I'm going to be dumping this stuff pretty soon, including the M4, which seems a great shame. Trade for Smersh vest.

This query has been posted several times before, so not sure why it's not showing up when you search. Compasses, including pristine ones, sometimes go into reverse. It's a bug. Log out and back in to cure. Or that's what I was told a few months ago and it worked. Other than this, they work fine. Those which are not pristine will give readings 10-40 degrees from true. So find a road whose direction you know from the map, work out what that difference is, and then all you need is some quick mental arithmetic to read your damaged compass.

I think that was the ACOG I traded with you, wasn't it? Ignore the usual crowd, they're just jealous.... And yes, I feel your pain. This is why I've not been that highly motivated to go and investigate vehicles until they're a bit more...stable. If I did, I'd definitely do what jukaga suggests and stash high value kit somewhere. I usually end up falling through a floor, or being attacked by an invisible zombie, or a tree, or some other interesting exploration of alpha mechanics. But that hasn't happened for a long time now, and my current char is my longest lived yet (about three months I think - since the 0.49 wipe). I mainly trade, which is a nice dynamic between hunting down rare loot and meeting other players. Other than that I explore the map, do a bit of living off the land, and help freshies when I can.

Yeah, I think the consensus (and this may have been confirmed by devs) is that crash sites are only visible on non-persistent servers. There is speculation that the loot still spawns on persistent servers - but you'd have to actually run over it to see it. As my favourites list is now mainly non-persistent servers, I'm spending most of my time on them and have had a real run of luck for the past week or so. I've found five UH-1Y sites in the past few days.

There's also a specific room in the North West Bus Garage office building (or is that a school?) that spawns medical loot, full kits, morphine, etc. IIRC it's on the second floor. That garage, in case you don't know it, is just to the NW of Lopatino.
