You're absolutely right, crashes don't spawn anywhere, so everyone should stop looking for them. Now. Apologies, I was obviously confused.

Crashes will spawn on persistent servers following Wednesday maintenance. But that will probably be the only time you'll see them there, as they will disappear on the following restart. They work as intended on persistence off servers. However, the crash hunting playstyle has been made extremely difficult by the roaming gangs who will log in immediately on those servers' restart, and scour the sites (often via V3S). In 0.53 you have to be very lucky to find an unlooted UH-1Y site.

Prefer: "It's Alpha, and as people who expressly paid for the game to test it and feed back, you can believe and express that things could be different."

What's wrong with playing the Alpha while being disappointed in progress to date and issues in the game? The stock answer to those who express discontent - that "it's Alpha, go away" is wearing a little thin.

Found one last night, walked away (already have a nice M4). If I find one at a crash, I'll generally leave it unless someone I know is specifically looking for one. The M4 is far better because of its adaptability, and the scope on the AUG is pisspoor. The idea is that, in the fullness of time, AUGs will have the same interchangeable modules as the M4 (although different - heavy barrels, etc). Can't see that being a priority for the game, but it's DayZ, so who knows?

Not as useless as it used to be, as you can at least now skin animals with it. Although cooking is such a pain in the arse that that's a bit pointless anyway...

I picked up a pristine frying pan the other day to test this out. And yes, you can build a proper fireplace (now requires five sticks btw), put the meat in the frying pan slots, put the frying pan on the fire. And it will do nothing. Instead the pan will stand vertically in the fire. I guess you need to go through the palaver with the stones and building an oven - although the mechanics of how that will work with a frying pan instead of a cooking pot are a bit opaque... Either way, am unimpressed with 0.53 cooking. It's more complicated and no better, but I guess is a WIP, etc.

What are the minimum requirements to report servers? Do you have to have video evidence? And how do you find out the hosting company? I've just been kicked twice, consecutively from "DayZ (Public/Veteran)". Have the IP, etc. The only other player was named "FightnIrish" and he clearly likes to have the run of the place to himself.

If he's getting his .50 uber sniper, can I have the T72 or whatever, that I need to run him over pls? If he's getting his thing, WHY CAN'T I HAVE MY THING. Then we can bring in Apaches to deal with the T72s. And then SAMs to deal with the Apaches. OP, can you see where this is headed?

OP - a few observations. You fell through the floor of the NW bus garage construction site. (which is why your pants and gear in them were ruined, etc). I've died that way there twice and have never gone upstairs there since. You then logged into a perfectly normal server, in which the admins have used the messages of the day to try to scare you away by telling you your character has been reset. This is bullshit. The protector cases full of other protector cases you found on the dead body are called Godboxes and are created through hacking and duping. Purists won't use them (and hopefully they can't be created any more). Nice thread btw- entertaining stuff.

Are suppressors still in game? Anyone found one? Assume they spawn at helis...

Seems like this to me too. Assuming the quantity of loot is a net constant, more types of loot reduces the probability of any particular type spawning - although the weightings (ie probability of specific types spawning) can be and are adjusted by the game.

Is this really a Thing? Please, God, no.

This problem is absolutely rampant, if my experiences over the weekend are anything to go by. Many server names (on public) are completely explicit that if you join them you will be kicked ("Join=kick", etc). Others have taken the interesting tack of using either server names or MotDs to try to tell you your char has been/will be reset if you join it. I know it feels like overkill, but have to agree with the suggestion that admins of public hive servers should not have the ability to kick players without a clear threshold for doing so that goes above and beyond admin whim and preference. The existing mechanic of reporting them, however valiant the effort, simply cannot keep pace with the problem.

You , sir, are an arse. If you'd like to have privileged access to loot, crash sites, whatever, then man up and get a private hive. I'm sick to death of public hive servers kicking me, and others, because they don't have the wherewithal to go private, and/or to give excusive rights to themselves. It's pretty much pay to play. It's actually not hard to imagine how an SKS could be better than an M4 in many situations. The M4 guy will tend to spray, whereas the SKS guy will know he has to aim. I really like the SKS, particularly as it doesn't need mags, attachments, all that palaver. But tend to give it up because I'm just an M4 fetishist.

That occurred to me too, although it is a nice idea in principle. Could they not whitelist the server somehow, so that only trusted parties could get into it?
