We only come out at night - a woman's descent into madness

    Enjoyed this - thanks.
  2. Red if you use DZSA launcher it will tell you exactly the time on the server, plus exactly how many players are on it. I think the stash is still there btw 🙂

A few tips to surviving your next encounter.

Don't wear masks, balaclavas, bandanas. I also find playing a female char seems to make people feel a bit less hostile. Make of that what you will. A slightly wider point - find playstyles other than just running to mil areas and getting tacticooled-up...

    Teddy bear picnic...

Couldn't agree more. They used to at least have rags in them IIRC...

THE PIGS ATTACKED BY THE ZOMBIES

You'd be hard pressed to have played more than a few hours over the past two years or so without having seen something similar, substituting wolves/cows/goats/whatever tbh.

    Can't find AK or M4

Well, this is just the probabilities coming home to roost as we tend to interpret them as faults. Just like real life really.

    Can't find AK or M4

I've had a lot of luck with M4s in this patch. They do spawn; you just have to look harder I'm afraid. My problem is with NATO suppressors specifically (beginning to suspect they may only spawn at heli crashes) and suppressors/silencers in general....

    Suppressor sounds

Anyhow, seems to me at least some of the silenced/suppressed guns are broken in game, so OP got his wish really...

    Official servers disappearing.

Just to illustrate the point, a further chunk of 'official' servers disappeared after downtime today, including two that I had stashes on.

    Official servers disappearing.

Whole rafts of 'official' servers have disappeared over the standalone's history. Some go to exp, some don't. Some come back - most don't. GamingDeluxe, Vilayer, etc, just don't exist any more - possibly because the owners/renters/providers see that not enough people are playing. Clearly there was some recognition of this around the start of 1.0 when we got those US and NL servers with the long numbers after them. But it's another issue with persistence, as I and other have commented on in the past.

383 Hours Played and I find my 1st Heli Crash...

Same. In the 40- and 50- patches, crash site hunting and trading was a viable (if slightly tedious) playstyle. Ah, the rush of seeing a plume of smoke (or even two) in the distance...

383 Hours Played and I find my 1st Heli Crash...

They're still all on the west of the map, but much more top to bottom now. There always was a site as far south as Kamenka, but there are others in that area too now - and they go up as far as the far NW/Tisy area. The easternmost one is to the east of Novy I think.

383 Hours Played and I find my 1st Heli Crash...

The sites are much more dispersed around the map than in pre .63 builds, so that actually looking for them as a playstyle (like the old Green Mountain loop) is pretty much impossible. Certainly on modded servers, guns are spawning at them again. Unsure about the public hive though.

    Microstuttering... still a “sign?”

It happens whenever I'm in the game for more than around a couple of hours, and has been that way since .63. I've just got used to restarting as part of the sheer masochism of DayZ… My rig is pretty good - played 0.62 like butter. It doesn't seem to be related to Zs, weather, players or any other factor.

    Microstuttering... still a “sign?”

Not sure 'micro' is the right word in my case. Almost unplayable...

    Microstuttering... still a “sign?”

I get it pretty badly - especially when I've been in-game for more than a couple of hours. It screws up the speed of my whole puter as well. So I usually have to restart. That cures it, but not very comfortable.

How Frequent Do You Want PC Updates?

I'd like fewer posts from you please OP. Thanks.

Died cause of multiple bug /w Video

I seem to remember it was always that way with those windows tbh. There were other issues with windows much earlier in the standalone - like ones you could see out of but not into, etc. So, uh, progress!

Test results just in - you can't fire out of those barracks windows.

    Can't use sit gesture

If you make as if to exit, you character will sit down. If you cancel your exit, your character will stay sitting. Not great, but there it is...

    A good Dayz

I've had a lot of the usual bad experiences in "1.0", and some crippling bad luck recently. My main char on the public hive, into whom a lot of work and grind went, got popped last week in a very obscure part of the map, west of Zabolotye, when a guy just ran over the ridge about 10m in front of me and shot me. Since then I've installed DZSA and have been having a much better time on modded servers. Running multiple chars means I don't have to invest in just one, while the launcher is streets ahead of the in-game one. Incidentally, if you want to see how many people are on the server with you, don't trust the Steam overlay version. The DZSA one is accurate - and it's also entirely accurate about time of day etc. Yesterday I tried a new winter/weapons redux/trader base server. Spawned in at Staroye. This is one of my least favourite locations. It's not enough west or east to be helpful. But wait...there are those mil tents a mere two minutes jog away. And one of the two trader bases is only five minutes away. So after my female char bravely fought off and killed the five resident Zs at the tents, I picked up an AK101 to see how much I'd get for it at the trader base. Jogging along to the base, I spot a car. It has everything, and it's all pristine. Just have to fuel it from the (helpfully provided) jerry can and I'm off to flog it at the base. About ten metres from the base its radiator gives up the ghost and the engine putters out - but the little beauty coasts serenely into the traffic cones and I sell it to the nice, if rather under-dressed man in the booth. Many, many roubles richer, I get pretty nicely geared up. A player walks into the base and comments on the fact. "I got a bit lucky..." I explain. I'm about to get luckier. I venture up to Guglovo. Mmmm. Another pristine, ready to go car, So I'm off back to base with that again (after filling the radiator this time...). Neither of these two cars killed me, took off into space, or did anything else weird btw. Now, pretty uber-geared after spending thousands of roubles, I'm a bit fed up with hanging around the base, so head north. There's a hunting stand about 50m to my left, and, er, someone in a white ghillie hood climbing up the ladder to it. I'm not usually a KOS-er, but I had something to get off my chest after the hideous death of my stable char. I take my time, crouch, make sure I'm semi-auto, and pop off three rounds at the guy. He falls backwards off the ladder and I take a chance to see what he's carrying. Clearly on his way back to the base from a looting trip to NWAF or Tisy, he not only has an M4, but also a FAL and a SAW (the first one I've ever seen). So I grab the latter and run - because I could swear I just saw someone else. Crouching in some trees a few minutes later it seems I did, as a guy runs past me just metres away. I stay put for ten minutes and then cautiously make my way back to base again. I have a look at the SAW. Its mag holds a tasty 200 rounds of 5.56, and it will take an ACOG, but not a suppressor, and is automatic only. Perhaps not the best weapon for a loner like me, so I'm sticking with my trusty M4. Some kind of hideous, buggy death-drama awaits this character in the near future, but in the meantime I'm actually having a lot of fun.

    Gotta love tent placement.

Can't vouch for particular servers, but in my recent experience community/modded servers tend to have better persistence - possibly because the admins are tending more carefully to their databases...?

Died cause of multiple bug /w Video

Well, yes, that's what I was trying to explain around the MP5 exchange. It's the bullets-in-picked-up-mags-not-registering glitch...

It may have been that his bullets were not glitched, but that yours were. Were the mags you were putting in the MP5 just ones you had picked up? There is much evidence of this glitch elsewhere, which is why I always repack any magazines I find. If I can find a helpful member of the infected, I will do a little test on those barracks windows. It's possible (but unlikely) that you can fire into the barracks, but not out I guess. My money is on the magazine glitch though... I can see why you're pissed off about dying like that, but it's much more likely to be a bug rather than a hacker.
