Character Bug/Stuck - Reset my char pls
Mookie (original) replied to Dovak_PT's topic in New Player Discussion
Devs certainly used to be able to reset stuck characters. not sure if they still do: Alternatively you can, er, just wait until you starve/thirst to death. Oh, and don't log out above ground level... -
Instantly became hyperthermic and I can't cool off..?
Mookie (original) replied to Ransurias's topic in New Player Discussion
You can be both because you're still over the 'overheating' threshold, while your temperature is falling. The only way I can get some stability in between the ponds is to not wear hat, or gloves, and be prepared to keep my jacket/shirt off while jogging around. I can get around half an hour of in game time like that without overheating, but the minute I need to sprint or put jacket on for space purposes, it all goes to hell. The other point is to ensure that you have good canteen capacity. While the overheating itself won't kill you, the dehydration it accelerates will... -
Has anyone seen a Smersh Backpack in .60?
Mookie (original) replied to Schlake's topic in General Discussion
But, but...the assault has four more slots than the Tortilla. And it's lower profile. -
No problem with rain here. I really like 0.60 rain... My rig is pretty crappy and ancient btw - some AMD PoS and a terrible GPU.

Veteran player returning to .60 - what's changed? Lets talk Loot, Persistence, State of Game
Mookie (original) replied to redmantab's topic in General Discussion
Doesn't work post-0.60. But the same function is available via the 'View Players' in Steam overlay. Be warned that the number of players displayed in the server browser screen can be waaaaay off.... -
You are not alone - at least if what you mean is that the 'Join Game' function in the Steam overlay doesn't do anything.... I'm not using Wi-Fi and have the same problem.

AUG, M4, AK101 and VSS spawn in quonset and tents.
Mookie (original) replied to Yuval's topic in General Discussion
I suspect they were common, as were the rifles. The point is that they are becoming less so as the CLE takes effect deeper into the patch. -
If you make sure to log out with your primary gun on your back, it won't do the whole reload/cocking animation. Worth bearing in mind if you're logging out in a compromised or high traffic location...

AUG, M4, AK101 and VSS spawn in quonset and tents.
Mookie (original) replied to Yuval's topic in General Discussion
Correct IME. The fixed military loot spawns are echoing dustbowls of nothingness now. I went looking for 5.56 at Myshkino yesterday and found only sweaty Gorka clothing. -
Look, no offence and all, (and believe me, your leetness is enormously impressive) but I take it as read in the game that, if anything, it's my job to help other players - especially nubs and bambies. I mean...why would you want to screw someone's else's experience of the game? But that's the playstyle thing I guess. As long as you're comfortable with your Karma.

Thanks for that intel. Really grateful.

How do some of you justify this game?!
Mookie (original) replied to JudoCobra's topic in General Discussion
I think Mr Cobra has some issues. Hopefully he can resolve them and stop wasting everyone's time, either with his threads, or his post-hoc 'I was drunk, zomg!' excuses for his threads. -
Reminder - need to know what server you were last on?
Mookie (original) posted a topic in New Player Discussion
The new server browser is a trifle borked, the 'History' tab has always been borked, and at least some of us are having problems with the 'Join Game' feature from the Steam overlay. So this just to remind old and new players how to figure out what server you are on, what server you were last on, and how you can tell other people what server you are on. Assuming you can alt/tab out, go to your computer's 'Documents' folder, open 'DayZ' and then open the file with your name on it. Not the yourname.var file - just the yourname one. Either around three fifths of the way down, or towards the end of that file is the name and IP address (the series of numbers ending in :2302 or similar) of the server you last logged into. This is either the one you are in at that moment, or the one you've just logged out of; it's the same thing as far as the file's concerned. (NB this is not the same thing as the shorter sequence of numbers nearby without a port address. That's your own IP number and is useless for these purposes). If you can't 'Join Game' from the Steam overlay, the fastest way to tell someone else what server you're on is to give them that IP address and they can then put the IP address into their 'Remote' tab in the DayZ server browser. Alternatively, if you've forgotten what server you're in, or have just been in, this will tell you - so you'll know what server that precious barrel is on... Once you log in to any new server, the file will overwrite/update to that server. So, at all costs, if you want to know where you just were, do not login to any new server, or the previous one will be lost to history (or buried somewhere deep, deep in your 'History' tab). This has saved my (tactical) bacon countless times. -
How do some of you justify this game?!
Mookie (original) replied to JudoCobra's topic in General Discussion
It's petty easy to survive, and it's also pretty easy to get good gear. This patch is nothing like as bad as 0.55... It's obvious with your talk of private hives and spawn frequencies that you really just want the game to be easier (and you'd be happy to pay for that...). I used to be a bit like you about DayZ (although my problem was usually about how simply outrageous it was that people fell through floors, or suchlike). If you stick with the game, you will enjoy it more. If you just want something easy to do, please go away and find something else. It will be a better use of your time, and less of a waste of ours having to read these crappy threads. -
I'm not sure there was ever a guarantee of proportions between Russian and NATO crashsites was there?. Could be all three are NATO, or Russian, or anything in between. I've certainly found three NATO crashes in the space of about 20 minutes in 0.60. More than one of the NATO crashes I've looted in this patch has had ostensibly Russian loot - AK101s, PS-01s. I doubt that these items were dropped by other players. Agree that the spawn frequency must have been increased - which would explain why I'm finding so many in this patch. M4s are almost laughably easy to find. If you want things like attachments, mags, ammo and clothing, you're probably better off going to one of the two military tent sites though.

So whats the deal with the Zombies?
Mookie (original) replied to Evilsausage's topic in General Discussion
If you think Zs aren't a problem, try creeping around Myshkino tents at night while trying to save your ammo. I was genuinely a bit shocked last night when I was crouched in a tent, waiting for a Z to pass by, and then he walked into the tent... I agree that there probably aren't enough of them, but the quality is on the up IMO. -
Instantly became hyperthermic and I can't cool off..?
Mookie (original) replied to Ransurias's topic in New Player Discussion
I find if I get into a pool deep enough to properly swim in, I start to promptly cool off within minutes. Works with gear on or off. Sitting in it doesn't seem to have the same effect. It is very annoying... -
How do some of you justify this game?!
Mookie (original) replied to JudoCobra's topic in General Discussion
Huh? FWIW I've just had my most fun and most frightening day in DayZ. Got shot up, nearly died, crept around in the dark within 3m of Zs (who now jump walls and walk into tents), some bad luck, some good, but up on the day and lived to tell the tale. This patch has its frustrations, but I'm enjoying it. Meanwhile your hyperbole seems a bit weird. Perhaps this just isn't the game for you. -
OK, time for me to get serious. All 3pp public. Have: 2x green barrels (one D one W) 2x yellow barrels (one D one P) M4A1 (W) with MP guard (P), RV1 (W, fitted battery) and OEM stock (W) M4A1 (P) with MP guard (P), handle optic (P) and OEM stock (P) FNX (P) with full mag (P) PSO 1-1 (P) Eastern suppressor (P) Seeking: 5.56 ammo (lots, preferably P) 60rnd STANAGs (must be full pls) ACOG (P/W) Thanks.

Mookie (original) replied to JudoCobra's topic in General Discussion
Loot simply not a problem for me in 0.60. I don't mean to be rude, but perhaps you're just not trying hard enough. This has never been headed towards an easy or instantly gratifying experience. It's a difficult, nasty, bitch of a game. If it's just a question of staying alive, that's why there are apple trees and a chicken every 20 feet... -
It's not like I'm wearing anything heavy - just a green hoodie, Gorka trousers, assault vest. But I'm still constantly overheated. Only way to deal with it is take a swim. Can I just ignore it? My healthy status seem to be holding up just fine...but a bit worried about suddenly dropping dead.

Constant overheating - ignore?
Mookie (original) replied to Mookie (original)'s topic in General Discussion
On the upside, imagine what it must be like in a ghillie suit.... -
Constant overheating - ignore?
Mookie (original) replied to Mookie (original)'s topic in General Discussion
Not wearing hat, gloves, heavy jacket, or mask. More importantly, not sprinting. -
Hmm. Strange. Really does suck. I'm afraid I only have the FAL mag now - had to drop the gun...

Constant overheating - ignore?
Mookie (original) replied to Mookie (original)'s topic in General Discussion
Indeed it is. It seems to be a question of just how long you can go without having to take a swim. I'm finding that not wearing a hat, or gloves, helps. Jogging instead of sprinting is very important. Gorka jackets or raincoats are a complete no-no. Once I'm in overheating or hyperthermic status, the only thing that seems to help is getting drenched. This seriously needs fixing IMO. Wonder if it was an issue in exp.
