I think we'd all still love to see a pic of the ensemble nonetheless. I for one am considering a more 'wiseguy' dress style.

Go home hyperthermia, you're drunk
Mookie (original) replied to SFRGaming's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I'm actually getting used to it. Just means I run (jog...) with two tops - a t-shirt or tac shirt for normal, and an M65 for when I need the slots or it's raining. In fact the M65 is only two points hotter than the tac shirt. The tipping point into overheating/hyperthermia for me is always sprinting. While they won't kill you, they will deplete your hydration considerably faster than normal or even 'hot'. -

Excellent work Sneaks. I assume devs are aware of your discovery? Whatever the case, I have just found a bipod (first one I've seen in ages) at a crashsite. So I'm going to put my worst gear on, whack it on a worn M4 and see what happens... -
Yep, good trading with Judged. Except it wasn't really a trade - he gave me an SVD because I was a bit salty about something...
-
This is a real danger in the far north, with all those rocky escarpments. Best to stick to the roads up there, especially at night. I got as far east as Novo last night and am now planning to run all the way down the east coast, on hi pop servers, helping freshies. One hour is probably a generous estimate of my character's life expectancy in this.
-
What servers are good for finding players?
Mookie (original) replied to vfxtodd's topic in General Discussion
We're now far enough into the patch where either people have lost interest, or they're just into hardcore surviving, or they're PvPers who occasionally die and respawn, As Rick says, on a hi-pop server you're pretty much assured of an 'interaction' around NWAF or Myshkino tents. If you just want to spot people, Veresnik Hill or overlooking Stary tents are good bets, but others will have the same idea. -
Mmm. He's in Argentina as well. Strictly speaking though, Rommel wasn't a Nazi and had to shoot himself after being implicated in Valkyrie, etc.
-
Yep. Or tents. They are v rare though. I've had enough of looking for mil loot and am about to embark on Mookie's Great Adventure, wherein I travel right round the border of the map, visiting all those weird and exotic places that I've hardly every been to.

ICYMI, here are the 0.60 values for clothing heat properties. Lower value = cooler: https://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/4sccj4/all_clothing_heat_isolation_values_for_060_stable/ https://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/4p4k6d/wip_content_added_to_the_060_changelog/ There are some interesting little variations in here - like the difference between USMC and TTSKO pants, or that between the improvised backpack and the others. -
There seem to be a lot of those in my neck of the woods, so I'll pick a couple up for you.
-
If there's something I really need, I'll take it and leave a friendly note. Maybe swap it for something I think they might like. What I don't do is trash/destroy camps, or impose my playstyle on the owners by dumping things I don't think they should be using... Wheaton's Law applies. Places you really should not be placing stashes - Bashnya Hill or the woods around Myshkino tents. Blindlingly obvious places, where I find stashes on at least one server in every ten. I really like Red Ensign's public camp idea, where people have pretty much free access to what he's collected. Might start doing that myself with heli loot.
-
I now have not one, but two full Smersh sets (both worn). I'll trade both for a pristine SVD. Thanks.
-
You'll need an amp... And mains electricity... So possibly quite far ahead. I'm with you on the capacity to broadcast over (say) the whole NWAF and thereby annoy the hell out of everyone with your chants of "F*ck you GI!", etc.
-
The trading thread is there for a reason. Unfortunately, unlike the old forum, it doesn't allow us traders to run signatures where we can feed back on what a waste of time and space idiots like Stoner69 (aka 'cocaine cowboy' - clearly a classy dude) really are.
-
It's a shame we can't have signatures (as we did on the old forum) where we could list trusted traders and those who were either crap (like 'Stoner69') or homicidal. Perhaps there's a fix for that.
-
Good for you. Unfortunately, he had me run all the way down from Krasnoe via my stash (over a two hour run) only to tell me half an hour after I arrived at the meeting point that he'd already done the deal. A complete timewaster who I'm afraid I cannot recommend and will not be dealing with again.
-
This is unfortunately true IME. Performance has gradually become worse (I'm assuming hotfix related, maybe as stashes have built up too?) to the point where it's pretty much as bad as its ever been.
-
Indeed, thank you Red. And this time I didn't murder you with an axe. All - I am still looking for an SVD btw. Have Smersh, M4s, loads of attachments, full plate vest, etc.

Looks like you're right there... Damn. -
Post of the week! OP you will find yourself doing a lot of orienteering at first - trying to navigate from point to point, etc. the online maps (eg iZurvive) are extremely useful, as is a compass at first. After almost 4,000 hours in game, I know pretty much the whole western half of the map off by heart. Bits of the east are still a mystery though... Practical things, as Gary says, make a stone knife almost immediately (just search for stones on stony ground, when you find a stone, point it back at the ground and 'craft stone knife'. This is invaluable, especially for opening cans). Use apple trees for food and hydration. Use water pumps instead of ponds to drink, especially at first. And then, depending on your playstyle, get off the coast. Lots of people will tell you not to get attached to your gear, and they're right, espeically if you're a PvPer. But my playstyle is simply to stay alive for as long as I can, so I tend to get good gear and I do tend to get a little attached to it. I'd be happy to meet up if you like - PM me.

ICYMI, 19 July Status Report says the 'gear wipe bug hotfixed to stable.' I'm assuming this is the same thing we've been talking about, and am asking whether we can all go back to playing with our handguards... -

Thanks a lot for the update. Can you say what the cause of the gear wiping was? And can we swap handguards and attach things to them with impunity now? -
