Experimental Branch: 0.49 Discussion
Haviland replied to haknslash's topic in PC Experimental Updates
Arrrrr! Steam just started a download while I was on desktop. As it turned out, it was another game from my library of course... > :( The excitement! :o The 4 seconds of Joy! :D ...... The Disappointment :( :( ;) But since there is nothing going on at twitter or reddit a.t.m. from the devs, I´m pretty sure they are just hacking away at their keyboards to bring us the much yearned-for update!! :) :beans: Edit: Yehaaw! Thanks for the Update, Mr. Hicks!! :) -

Since you obviously know your Chernarus way better than me (pobeda dam? was it on the map earlier and was removed, or do you refer to the mod?), what did you make out of these few violet dots across the northern corridor? Near said pobeda dam f.e., but also near the "mine" and in novo, svetlo, severo and petro. Any idea what they might mean? -

Btw, somethings happening in the Depot-History that WhiteZero referred to! Looks very similar to what happened shortly before they pushed the last update... (hopefully not jumping to wrong conclusions again ;) ) -

Ok, that might very well be. I just never noticed it before I traveled up there and stumbled across it. :) And you´re completely right, there is no way to tell yet, if Tisy has anything to do with "moving balota military camp further inland". But my understanding was, that this map pretty much shows the final version of what the devs are planing in regards to country-side. And since I just wasn´t able to find any other changes to the map that might indicate "new" military buildings, I just jumped to that conclusion... Perhaps I missed something on the map, perhaps I´m over-interpreting, who knows. Perhaps the desperate waiting for the update/fix for experimental just makes me see things... ;) -

According to the map the new dev blog showed, the mystery about where the balota military camp will be moved, seems to be revealed (and my personal suggestion has come true) - the very north-west corner of the map! Just spooked around up there in my search for a tent the other day (some feed shacks already to be found) and totally fell in love with the lovely looking birch woods. It really gives the area a different feeling compared to the rest of the map, i think. Also recognized some "military pavement" and placeholders for coming buildings and was hoping that this would be a future location for pvp-related adventures and stuff. Happy to see this finally happen (i.e. being planned at least ;) ) ! -

Well, that went quick... Same dev twitting like 4min ago; "New experimental is live, enjoy!" New version number on the servers, unfortunately no download option for my steam yet... Edit: Ah, there we go. Another 793MB. ;) -

One of the devs just twittet this: "Experimental server going down in next few minutes, update incoming, ETA 2 hours" Don´t know if this is just a hotfix for the rather bumpy last update, or the "complete rest" of 0.49, though... -

Just found something rather interesting in the new devblog. http://dayz.com/blog/status-report-week-of-01-sept-14 quote: Standup Notes for the week of 01 Sept 14 Art: Firefighter Helmet New civilian zombie SPOSN Backpack NEAF civilian hangar New 55-gal drum Derringer AKS74U AK101 retexture M4 Drum Mag Pack of cigarettes Skate helmet Bottle of voka Dime bag Range Finder Leather wallet Radio Cassette player RGD2 smoke (white, black) Waterproof packable bag Waterproof backpack quote end Does this mean they are implementing usable drugs/tabaccos/alcoholics into the game? How sweet would that be! :D B) (not to mention the radio cassette player) -

1) Much better! You can now welcome incoming zeds with a nice whack to the forehead again. Sometimes it still feels a bit off, especially with the monkey zeds, but major improvement anyway! 2) Unfortunately yes. Much less than in 0.48, but the more remote the region you are crossing, the higher the chance of mystery burps in the woods. (both at least in my experience) -
I just found a new 15round ammo clip for the Mp5.

That might well be the same thing, although I never had that before. Plus, my Char did not die from melee fight (fell down a ladder *cough*), and he gave another zombi a good piece of his a axe just one minute before. But perhaps its coming from the same "direction" of bug... I also have the impression, that with this new pathfinding, the zombies almost always have the first hit. I´m not able to hit them on their last meter of approach any more. This try always fails and before being able to hit the second time, they already got me once. As if their "hitbox" isnt working, until they finished their lastleap or summink...(just guessing, have no idea about programming ;) Together with the derpy way the melee combat works at the moment (pressing "w" only making you walk when melee raised), fighting more then one of them is quite dangerous right now. Which is kind of a good thing, generally speaking. But I guess there is still some fine tuning to do...

Can confirm Zombis climbing stairs now. Two of them just followed me up to the second level of zeleno prison. Had a strange bug though, which made me unable to hit or shoot with axe, machete or my SKS. Not even fist punching worked. As if left mouse button stopped working.... So the two fellas got me right there... :-/

Got my update at last. Can confirm char wipe. But first thing I did was stumble into MP5 in Berezino police station. So "luck in bad luck" as ze germanz say. :) Does anyone know about the mags for MP5? Where do they spawn, are they in yet? And they seem to have fixed the bug that made the game crash completely every single time after being on one server and trying to join another. (at least this is my first impression)

Did anyone download todays patch yet? I can see the servers coming back on, but they are all empty. They are all version 0.46.124490 whilst i am still playing 0.46.124489. But steam just wouldn´t update DayZ to the latest version. At least not voluntarily. Tried restarting the game multiple times (which normally works), but nothing. Is there a way I can make steam obey my will, or is this perhaps just some delay in regards of making the patch downloadable by the devs?

Thanks, h0nkX! Is that confirmed or just a suggestion? Well, since I will check it out anyway, have some BeenZ! :)

Hi there everybody! Did anyone stumble across that new town yet? Just ran all the way west from Novo and there is nothing new between Novo and the end of the railway northwest of Lopatino. Or was it just a rumor after all? Btw. model of upgraded fireplace still not implemented. Fireplace + 5 Firewood + 8 Stone = nothing changes
