Absolutely clear. I put out the warning that all of the things that you listed that don't involve PVP will be trivial. Gearing up will always be a breeze. Avoiding non-pvp deaths after you learn the hard lesson once will be easy. Figuring out where to go to loot things: easy. (even for the new player, really! look at all the online sources!) Fighting zombies: easy. Hell, even look at current stable .47; melee combat is totally broken. Even while handicapped due to game mechanics, you can take on 6 zombies and not get a scratch, once you learn how to do it. I've read the statement in your sig. Multiple times. I think it's silly. It's a fine tag line to get people to buy the game but unrealistic in terms of describing the true nature of the game. I've been playing videogames for almost 30 years and MMOs/FPS since the beginning. Experience tells me that the pve in this game will be completely trivial. "Survival" as a goal, as sold by the company, is way to vague to have any meaning whatsoever. That's like saying the point of any game is to 'win'. well, duh. I don't get why people say that I'm not listening to their opinions. I am. Such is the nature of opinions, huh? None of the opinions that I've heard compels me to change mine. I'm not really trying to convince you to not play the game or that the game is bad or anything else. Just because I don't agree with someone, doesn't mean I'm not listening to what they have to say.

why so angry? why are you throwing insults at me?

Discussion involves more than; "no, it's not" "yes, it is" "no it's not" "no, it's not" is hardly a convincing argument. If you don't want to engage in this thread then please refrain from posting or reading it. Your problem solved!

No, I've considered what everyone else has said. These 'multiple things' that aren't pvp have limited shelf-life. And will only hold the attention of the consumer for so long. All of the points that have been used against my 'warning' I've carefully considered. I'm totally willing to change my beliefs but I haven't seen any arguments strong enough to refute my prediction. I've also addressed the fact that it's incomplete. Believe me, nothing would make me happier than to have an mmo that provides an honest challenge beyond pvp. It's never happened. I've even set out the challenge to anyone to give a single example where single player mmo content is challenging. So far, nothing. I don't believe telling Rambo to say more than "No, it's not!" is too far out of line.

Don't worry. The fear of dying eventually goes away on its own. It's kind of a sad moment when it does because the paranoia buzz is kinda cool. My humble suggestion is to get into as many fist fights as you can until this fear of yours goes away. Unless you like the fear, then continue to do what you're doing! :)

Uhh, what? It's fine if you disagree but please give examples, use logic and critical thinking to support your view. Just posting one statement with no evidence isn't really doing anything for your argument. I've stated my opinion and explained thoroughly why I think it. Please do the same if you're going to participate in a discussion.

I'm a hero in dayz SA! Ask me anything!

Lovely, another question about zombie lore... -
Well, this thread started off, more or less, as a warning to people who expect this to be a game about survival and not player versus player deathmatches. Granted, this is just my view on the whole situation. I don't recall making the claim that this is profound and new. If you already know that this game is PVP endgame then yes, move along. My advice is to not read the forums if you don't want to see redundant topics. People talk on forums. That's what they're there for, ya know?

Melee combat. I've been known to club a man unconscious and take his beans. Everyone is bad at melee right now. It's the perfect time to play around in svetlo on high pop servers.

"rare" they say. I lol'd!!

How about sharks with lazer beams that destroy all the gear on your victim instead. Edit: But only near the shore. Edit: And only on Wednesdays. (for realism)

Is DayZ going to have microtransactions/DLC?
Parazight replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
short answer: no long answer: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO -
I looked briefly but didn't see any topics regarding the following suggestion: Add additional player skins for getting more players to buy the game. Possibly, unlock an additional skin for getting one other player to join the game. Another for getting more (3+) people to join. Something like that. Something that wont give you an advantage in game but something substantial enough. Sorry if this has been suggested already, I saw some posts regarding skins, but nothing like this. What do you think?

So, I'm new to DAYZ, and I can't play yet.
Parazight replied to CommandoScrub's topic in New Player Discussion
Practice dying a lot. The more you die, the better you'll be at gearing up. learning how to fight and where to loot are paramount. Don't get attached to your gear. -
I'm not sure if I want to hunt you down, kill you, and steal your sig or totally make out with you right now.

Therein lies the problem. It will never be challenging. I task anyone on these forums to give one example where single player content, in a mmo, is difficult. As stated before, if you can play this game, be totally content, and avoid player interaction altogether, then more power to you. So, the goal is to survive. I say that it's too easy and nothing can change that. At some point, PVE becomes boring. "Surviving" is attained and then what. There's no reward for surviving. That's the one thing I worry about regarding this game. There is no end, the whole point of "surviving" can be extremely easy if you're willing to be bored as hell and there's no reward system for "surviving". Hence, along with other things, pvp is the endgame. That's hard to do. You don't have one life to live. You have limitless lives to live. Also, I don't give two fucks what Dean's goal is, neither should you. I never make decisions based on someone else's goals in a video game.

Anyone with a bandage is a medic. That's all it takes. I haven't met anyone calling themselves a medic in game yet, but if I do, I would distrust them immediately.
-
For the record, people are also combat logging in .47 stable because of the left mouse button problem. Some people have no issues at all while others are plagued with it, it seems.
-
I am so jealous. If you can have endless entertainment in Dayz and NOT pvp, then more power to you.
-
Wait, whut?? I'm sorry if you think I'm attacking your credibility. I honestly don't think you understand my point. Probably because you didn't read it. The fact that you quoted the DayZ tag line indicates this as I also quoted that same statement in the first post. I also addressed this tag line there. You must have missed it.

Dayz was once described as a social experiment...

Look at Japanese culture. Extreme violence in media and video games. Yet, they have one of the lowest crime rates on earth. -
I'm not sure that I'm disagreeing with you here... The devs can code whatever they want, sure. My point is that PVP is the most important thing because there are no MMOs, in the history of gaming, that provide single player content with any sort of real challenge. No amount of developer coding will change that.

What items would you kill someone for? An MP5K?

I met up with my brother and friend at NWAF a couple weeks ago. I handcuffed this friend of mine, stole his M4, and when my brother put up a stink about it, I shot them both. -
They wont get that hard. Read the opening post in this thread. I posit that PVE will never be challenging. If you disagree, fine, please provide some logic as to why. Try using examples and critical thinking to support your view.

Semantics. Well, whatever definition you want to use for 'endgame', the topic remains the same. What do you do when you're fully geared? What holds your attention to keep playing? saying "Survival" is such a non-answer.
