    Suicide Option?

    Option to respawn with the drawback of it being in the worst, yet manageable, spot. Make 'suicide island' maybe. Perhaps a patch of land, far north of svetlo with no loot but enough zombies to kill a fresh spawn.

    Chernarus++: No area left behind!

    Needs bigger tree stands so that you don't fall out of it and die because you're wearing a large backpack. How about a large carnival tent to honor the circus of clueless noobs I'll snipe there. Maybe a horse track or stadium. Something interesting yet large, open, and easier to code.
  3. I fully support any change that makes the ingame map more useful than my second monitor which displays a website map with heli/loot spawns on it.

    Seems authentic. And not game breaking. Bravo!
  5. Currently, you don't need any item ahead of time to fix a fracture other than a rag or bandage. You can crawl to any tree and search for kindling to find a wooden stick. A zed could break your legs as you log in for the first time as a fresh spawn and you can still deal. I don't see how a crutch would have any benefit, armed with this knowledge.

    Possible reward for early access testers?

    Aww.... 300 hours. How adorable. In addition to a reduced price, you'll have the benefit of being progressed further than everyone who buys the game at its official release date. Progression in this game is the knowledge gained and experience of playing. Your gift will be dying 10 times less than any newbie.
  7. Find a bandage. Crawl to the nearest tree. Search for kindling. Combine wooden stick and bandage to make a splint. Fix fracture. Already implemented. Trying to fool someone is a clever idea, however, you can now fix yourself up 50 meters from anywhere, so it would seem kind of silly to anyone that isn't a noob.

    Perks/skills/professions/stats

    Professions, classes, skills and the lot are a great yet dangerous idea. I see many great ideas in this thread being pulled from other games and sources. It's new territory though. DayZ SA is a unique animal that presents different challenges, I think. Part fps, part mmo-- where do we draw the lines?? Well, I'm not sure. I know what should probably be avoided though. Any BiS profession/class/talent tree will do more harm than good. Professions and the like should provide a fun, yet trivial, time sink. Any bonuses upon spawning that give you an edge in combat will ruin the system. The major MMOs out there have tried, with little success, in my opinion. Gaming communities will settle on a best-in-slot (profession/ class/ item) and that will be the end of it. My cautious suggestion is that any kind of boon should not affect combat. Instead, have it help group play in a minor way.

    Squad XML for DayZ

    Meh... I'll probably get flamed for this but... Clans and guilds are overrated. This coming from a guy who's been on the bleeding edge of mmo progression since UO was king. I guess I think that the game doesn't need to support groups (guilds/clans) at all. I'm all for them but only with 3rd party programs and websites. I love how s Koreans have been able to pug 25 man hard mode raids with great results that westerners would otherwise fail miserably at. I want that kind of gaming culture. I think a game that helps form communities only hurts itself, tbh. Make clans work harder.

    Seems unnecessary. One rope to rule them all is authentic enough. Too much realism is bad. Flashlights should probably use 9 volt batteries IRL anyway.

    Grenade as a life preservation device - must read

    If you only have a crowbar and a group of bandits hold you up then it's a pretty easy decision. You run into the middle of them and start swinging. You have nothing to lose and probably could use some extra practice fist fighting. Don't let a bunch of video game nerds bully you.

    New suggestions for next DayZ update

    It's not a game yet. Where does it say that it is meant to be 'hardcore'?Doesn't look like a stupid suggestion to me. He offers a suggestion WITH reasoning behind it. H1Z1 is finished?!?!? I must have missed that announcement. OP: ammo is out there. Farm car trunks more. Yellow and white cars seem to spawn ammo more often.

    Please dont balance loot spawns

    Sometimes I wonder if the developers of this game have read their own alpha disclaimer. Please do not attempt to balance loot spawns. Items that you want tested should be easy to find. Please adjust loot spawns so that the items that you want tested appear more frequently. The DayZ crew just recently added hand grenades. But, AFAIK, they are only at helicopter crashsites. I'm not sure why. I want to help the Dayz developers test the game. Please make them spawn everywhere! Early Access Alpha was granted so that players could help test the game. Well then, let us test it! So, according to your own roadmap, loot balancing is done during the latter part of beta testing. Please balance loot spawns during this time. There is no reason to try and balance loot spawns currently. The only reason to balance loot spawns in alpha is to pacify forum crybabies. Much of the loot that is currently in the game is unnecessary for alpha release. Books, many of the food items, items of clothing, and various weapons that have already been tested and don't have any problems could be temporarily removed or their spawn numbers could be reduced. Granted, I'm no programmer and have no idea what sort of effort would be required to make this change, but experiment! Don't be afraid to make something that's rare into a common item! It's Alpha!

    Please dont balance loot spawns

    You assume they do all testing internally?I started this thread because I wasn't finding the items I wanted to play with. Believe me, I've looked. At this point in my game experience I can almost identify any city by name just by looking at the layout and surrounding landscape. I've hunted helicopters endlessly. With little luck. I haven't found any grenades on 46:stable yet. Who has? Anyone finding too many?? Perhaps they are broken, perhaps I'm very unlucky, perhaps I need to look harder (doubt it). I wouldn't want the final product to be unbalanced/ have too many grenades, but the risk of having too many heli spawns during alpha seems small. Maybe increase spawn rates so we can try out the new toys??

    I'm not sure of the ramifications. Seems like it would be a lot of busy work and unnecessary. Too much realism, perhaps. I could see it being feasible if it realistically took you half a day to run from one town to the next. We don't want game mechanics getting in the way of player skill, now do we? I'm not sure.

    /sigh. I've put in several, several hundred hours into this hiking simulator already. I've been killed by hackers way more times than I can remember. I don't care about killing players. I don't care about dying. I don't care about loot. I'm not all that good at this game and I don't really care. I don't want free loot. My best memories come from when I'm a new spawn/bambi just figuring out the game. I love this game because it is a sweet hybrid mmo/shooter. I'm honestly just suggesting something based off of previous experience. In order to test something you need to have it. If I replaced Grenades in my post with say... alcohol tincture would that satiate you?? YEA! WE NEED TO TEST ALCOHOL TINCTURE. OMG WHERE IS ALL THE ALCOHOL TINCTURE. PLEASE REPLACE ALL LOOT WITH IT. NAOW!!!! All you've done is made assumptions. You have yet to make one legitimate rebuttal to anything I've written. Go back to school. Please clarify. So, the devs don't need us to test items because they have already done all the testing?? Wouldn't that negate our 'sole function'?

    I'm sorry, but I don't see that at all. There are bugs all over items and controls. Take a look at the bug reports area. Tons of examples of players reporting bugs regarding items. Bugs of all sorts. Things are clearly not functioning perfectly and there are plenty of related stability issues. According to their roadmap, they're not concerned with the trivial things you mention. Why be concerned with looting patterns when they haven't even implemented all the items in game yet anyway? Heck, they're redoing the architecture of the game, why worry about player metrics? Testing server load: I'll give you that one. Game Economy? WTFareyoutalkingabout? I have found every item in the game already, including a single grenade. Posting to adjust the spawn rates of items that *I* would want is selfish and lame.

    Great! So, I can assume that all 2 million people will be testing the items and providing feedback? Your sarcasm laced nonsense barely, if at all, addresses this thread. I bet you're more concerned with shooting at people than testing a game.

    Realism Vs. Balance

    It's hard to port balance from real life to a video game. Weapons in real life are designed to be as effective as possible. Weapons in a video game are not created and tested in a vacuum. RL is hard to port because death is final. RL tactics are different and the stakes are different. Take the classic example as to why some rounds are hollow point and some are not. Hollow points hit a fleshy target and expand causing as much damage as possible. Solid bullets were used in wars to hit a soldier and only wound him. This resulted in medics being tied up, bogging down resources. Tactics are different IRL. Additionally, no sane soldier in a war really wants to kill other people. You can't expect realism in dayz. No one gets PTSD from a video game. Also, zombies aren't real.
  21. Crawlers or Hoppers seem good. Anything more than two syllables isn't convenient enough and bogs down communication.
