Meh... When my Lamborghini Diablo breaks down on the freeway I'm not expected to know how to fix it. I just use an app to find the nearest dealer. When I'm ordering authentic Asian food I'm not expected to learn simplified Chinese. Dude on the other end of the line is my online app. I didn't need to learn Russian in order to memorize the landscape.

Does anyone else have problems, creating improvides backpacks?
Parazight replied to Calixus's topic in Troubleshooting
Lies. Put all the items on the ground. Then combine. I have one on stable. Edit: I misread. You can't make from deer. That said, you DO have to put improvised and stick on the ground to make improved leather pack. -
Yea but you regenerate lost blood if you're bright green energized. The system isn't all that relatable to real life, yet we need something there. I'd vote for something not complicated at all.

You're absolutely right. 'Silly' is an extraneous word here. In general, I love silly videos! No hard feelings were intended. I'm not sure a video to get to the nwaf is entirely necessary. I encourage you to keep making videos if you like doing that. Instructional videos are prime bait for criticism so tread carefully.

I have hard rule: I don't ridicule videos I've never watched.

Nice shirt! Selling stuff using someone else's property... You're just asking for lawyers to KOS you. Heh.

Simple. Find train tracks. Run north or west on it. Keep going till you pass train cars and station. Keep going till you cross a big metal bridge. Cross bridge then head southwest (prolly into sun). Run across the big field to the hill you see in the distance. Reach top of hill and you'll be at the woodland prison which is just north of the nwaf: tent city. No silly video is necessary.

Or maybe have respawning loot?? Private servers+hive has never worked for mmos

I haven't had a real vitamin in over 20 years and I'm a very healthy guy. Might be too much fluff, I could be wrong.

I don't think it's a problem in alpha at all. My brother and I do it and then meet up in zelenogorst to hunt each other fully kitted. It's great fun. As mentioned, it's because of loot spawning mechanics. You can easily join just one server, hit up 2 barracks and a prison in zelen, go a bit south to the woodland military base, get 4 more barracks, a few hospitals, piano houses, and cop shops on the way and then BOOM. You are plenty geared. Gearing full is almost easier than fighting zombies. As an alpha should be, right?

Authenticity. Not realism. Realistically, your brain is like an orange and would react as guilau describes. Realistically, you wouldn't close fist punch a motorcycle helmet in a life or death pvp fight. You would open palm judo it to induce a concussion. Fist fighting is pretty balanced as-is.

Off-topic, but sporter 22 should totally have it. Names/history be damned. 22 rifles commonly have LRS (sometime bipod?) because it is a great starter rifle that people put scopes on if they're just introducing their kids to firearms. Totally reasonable and authentic.

Peoplez that give u damaged foods and rags that haven't been cleaned wit tincture deserve a mosin shot to kneez fer ther outright douchebaggery. Also, wearing a white shirt after Labor Day is grounds for being handcuffed and being force fed wormz.

I can proudly say that I haven't lasted any longer than four days. But that's only because I went on a bender trying to fish and hunt when it came out on experimental.

Being friendly finally paid off
Parazight replied to IReadTheAgreement's topic in General Discussion
After reading the first post the first thing to pop into my head was that these guys gave you a bunch of sweet, pristine gear that was likely duped. Better shoot them for duping. Is that wrong????? -
I just want to know what killed me so that I can possibly learn from it. Plain text is fine. A combat log would be generous. The frustrating death in alpha is when you don't know if it's from a random bug, you fell through some invisible hole in the stairs, or if you got sniped with a crossbow. I don't care that I actually died, only HOW I died.
-
The progression in this game is 100% in your mind. How to craft, where to loot, knowing the landscape, and most importantly, accepting death. Gear is really quite trivial. Repeat the following exercise until your heart rate no longer increases when you do it: 1.) run to the nearest town with a cop shop. 2.) hide in the building next door so that you can watch the door of said cop shop. 3.) wait for another player to enter it. 4.) kill that player with your fists. The key here is to become callous to combat. Being able to stay absolutely calm is the best possession a player can have. Die as much as possible. You have nothing to lose! Seriously, the day you don't care about dying is most rewarding thing you can give yourself. The side benefit of dying so much is that you'll know how to gear up faster than ever before. If you need any help on how to get killed shoot me a PM. You're welcome.

Excellent post. Well said! Your comments here clarifies your response a bit. Remind me not to KOS you, sir!

Good news! You don't even need an axe! Just search at the base of any tree! Many of the examples in this thread are totally avoidable. That said, there needs to be some sort of backup to unstuck yourself. Slap a harsh timer on a forced respawn and call it done.

I want in game beards. I also want a thick sharpie to write on my captive's face, a half bottle of Jim Beam, a tube of astroglide, a sturdy crowbar, and two very close friends.

I remember when the map and compass were valuable. All you really need is the time of day to find your way. With this, you can easily find north. Next, travel the map aimlessly a few times until you start noticing the landmarks. After a month of gameplay you stop looting that fluff. IIRC, names on the map don't match the road signs. That's why I rarely used it.

No, because one line posts with little content are nearly worthless. Additionally, a rebuttal with no explanation is weak. And this is a forum where people discuss issues. Yes/no retorts are boring.
-
You can fight off 5+ zeds at a time easy, without even taking one hit, with fists, once you know how. Zombies are totally trivial right now.
-
Yes. First you offered a suggestion that adds nothing to the game, seems impractical, and probably more work than it's worth. Then you went into financing, which no one can seriously relate to. I have almost 600 hours into alpha and am more than grateful for the experience that I've been given, at a discounted rate. I don't see us as being THAT important. Also note that I've submitted several bug reports out of thanks and goodwill. Try to do something good knowing you won't receive any recognition or reward. Because it's the right thing to do!!
