Traditional mmos are places with many, many instances. Dayz is one huge single instance. Every action a player makes has to be transmitted to every single player because it's a sandbox. This isn't necessary in games like WoW. Having dayz set up like a traditional mmo would mean you'd only have about five people max on a server at any given time.

I don't get the hate versus server hopping. As intelligent mammals, you learn to accomplish tasks through trial and error and then go back to the method that is the most efficient and easiest. People are products of their environment. You function within the boundaries of the space which is defined for you. When you then realize that server hopping is the most efficient way to gear up, that's what you do! Tell me, where does the self imposed morals come from? It certainly isn't from a series of 1s and 0s that are lined up to create computer functions. Let's say you've already put in a thousand hours into the alpha and looting/pve is now stale. Why wouldn't you want to repeat the same task that you've done a hundred times already with as little effort as possible? I charge the game company with the task of making server hoppin undesirable. The phrase 'don't hate the player, hate the game' has never been more appropriate.

So, what gives? As far as I know, all yellow and white STATIC police cars are not spawning. except one. There is one police car that has spawned all throughout .48 and now, .49. It is southwest of Vavilovo. It is the only one that I've found that seems to be working. Curious to see what it is spawning nowadays, I've server hopped approximately 30 times at the location and checked it out. The interesting things that seem to spawn: MP5K Longhorn 1911 Police Jacket composite arrows FNX clips Magnum haven't found (which I expected to see) MP5K clips Police pants crossbow handcuffs various firearm scopes. Anyway, I'm curious if anyone has found any other working yellow/white police cars. If so, have you found any thing else interesting there? EDIT: again, this thread is to discuss the STATIC police cars that always spawn in the same spot. Not the random ones that appear in western cities.

The one police car that spawns in 49...
Parazight replied to Parazight's topic in General Discussion
The police car that I'm talking about always spawns in this spot. Is never glitched. Is on every single server. Always spawns loot. I'm not talking about dynamic events that spawn randomly all over. This one is there every single time. I've never seen it to have a problem. -

I can honestly say that this police car is there, on every single server, at all times. Pick any server and go find it. -
So you died while on a roof. And your friend died while in a firestation. Sounds like you encountered a bug/s. People die all the time while on a roof and especially in firestations. Your post isn't really all that descriptive. If you have proof of an unknown hack, just PM a mod.

I'm still waiting for a sock with a roll of quarters in it, so please get in line. IMO, ancient swords don't seem to fit the flavor of the game.

I took out two heavily armed guys with my firefighter axe!

Gratz on breaking your murder cherry, dood!! (Even though a guy with a pistol and another guy covering the door with a mosin is pretty far from being 'heavily armed') -
Your topic title is very non descriptive. Loot balance in Alpha is an interesting phenomenon. Normally an Alpha is closed. But here we have a game in Alpha which people have traded money for. So it has to be somewhat playable. I don't envy the guy who's job it is to constantly balance the loot spawn. Knowing full well that it will all be changed again. Knowing what he's doing is totally impractical from a closed Alpha development point of view.

It's a known issue that wet status indication isn't working properly. People are likely having problems surviving because of this. -
I've done something similar. It was in previous builds, so I didn't have to worry about weather at the time. Anyway, I've challenged myself to see how geared up I could get just by looting other people. The exception was food, water, and collecting rags/bandages. It's fun imposing these sort of challenges because the pve aspect of the game so far is dreadfully easy. Your challenge reminds me of .48 experimental. Maybe it was .47. Like when stuff wasn't spawning and everything was empty. All you could do is drink water and pick apples.

I like the weather system. I just spent a handful of minutes figuring it out. I'll never die from it now. On to the next pve challenge.

Next time I see a Russian bandit squad I'm going to play this song through my mic.

Morals based on nationality, especially in a video game, is absurd. Assuming someone's behavior because of where they're from is a good way to promote nonsensical hatred. Seems like a terrible post. 1/10. Wouldn't read again. -
I predict that the new building, which they just spent 3 months on, will be placed where the barracks used to be.

I wish I had a Deutsche Mark for every time some American used that video clip to make something entertaining. Actually, I probably wouldn't have very many DMs cause it's never that entertaining. -

Parazight replied to barnabus's topic in General Discussion
Oh? Please, by all means, tell me what I didn't read and what I inferred that isn't true. Give examples and use reasoning. If you think I'm flaming you then you should report my posts. What!?!? I've said multiple times that you should play however you like. Show me with links where I say that you're not playing the game properly. I'll show you the opposite. Give examples and use critical thinking for once in your life. Stop being absolutely terrible at forum pvp. I think that you can survive encounters versus players and zombies 100% of the time using melee combat. The melee combat system does exactly as it's programmed 100% of the time. The melee combat system is 100% reliable as long as you can navigate and compensate for the other bugs/lag/etc. Which you can. For example, when you know that a zombie is on your ass. The game won't let a zombie who has aggro on you simply vanish just because you may not see it right. You KNOW a zombie is there, run to a street or other flat spot on the terrain with no objects (read: buildings) on it. Start strafing in a circle. The invisible zombie who's glitching through walls will never hit you. Eventually the game will catch up. The zombie will appear and you will be able to kill it. I consider this tactic to be part of melee combat even though it doesn't involve any functions directly related to swinging a weapon. I've never had problems killing zombies with a melee weapon. In my opinion, melee is too easy right now. I would almost ask the devs to decrease the size of the hitboxes. -
It's funny cuz I don't know him. Good post. Would read again.

In the world of 1s and 0s, nothing is truly random. Even random number generators. That said, seems random enough to me.

Pretty good at melee huh? says the guy who managed to kill himself with a baton. Also, if you're letting zombies hit you in melee combat then you're probably not as good as you think you are. Yea. I bet you're a real pro. So, you're saying the whole point of your thread was to lament about how your shirts get ruined? What is it that you want people to post? How they agree or disagree with how easily your shirt gets ruined? There's no debate there. Nobody is tracking data on how many shirts you've ruined or any crap like that that doesn't matter to anyone but yourself. The interesting offshoot of your post is a debate on various melee weapons. Threads go off topic all the time. It happens to everyone's threads from time to time. deal. Now, lets address this notion you have of me being a troll who talks out of his ass. Let me begin by pointing out that you don't understand what I was saying at all. Yes, I said you are probably bad at melee combat if you use a stun baton to defend against zombies. It begins with the terribly bad decision to deplete a battery defending yourself against zombies. It's probably the most egregious use of resources ever. Zombies are so easy to kill. Even avoiding! You can easily lose a zombie, avoiding the fight entirely. I'm totally baffled that people have trouble with zombies. In well over 800 hours of playing the standalone, I've never had a problem with defeating zombies in melee combat. Ever! Throughout all of the patches. Even during the last couple where it got 'harder'. Just because my point of view and experience is different than yours, doesn't mean I'm trolling. I don't troll. I make declarations backed with critical thinking and self evident examples. Much unlike you. You post about how mad you are that your shirt gets ruined by zombies. Then you go on to say that you're not bad at melee combat. Well guess what, if your dumb shirt gets ruined THAT MUCH that you have to cry in a post about it, then you probably are bad at melee combat. Additionally, you just complained about how people are talking about stun batons and not the real point of your thread (ruined shirts). Look at your opening post. The only place you mention ruined shirts is in the topic title. The entirety of your opening post revolves completely around stun batons. Perhaps the problem, ultimately, is because you're playing the alpha on a potato. Are you playing on a PC that sucks? I'm not. Maybe that could be a problem. Maybe you need more experience in melee combat. I've spent a huge portion of my in-game time KOSing people with melee weapons. Now I'm good at it. I bet I could beat you in a Dayz melee fight. -

interesting. The real question is: would your stories be just as interesting if you told them properly in your native language? (which is obviously English) -
You don't need a tent. Persistence isn't working properly yet. Tents only spawn heartache and let downs right now.

Oh. I'm all for the baton. I'm a baton man. I'd dual wield batons if I could. I'd like to find more rare 'engraved' batons, plzktks. You're preaching to the choir, holmes. I totally prefer the baton over axe. If zombies were relevant, I'd be willing to entertain something more than the baton, but they're not. Shocksticks 4life. -

Parazight replied to barnabus's topic in General Discussion
At the end of the day, if you're using a stun baton to kill zombies then you're probably bad at melee combat. The stun baton and other battery-using melee weapons are really only viable if you're using them with a charged battery. And if you're wasting a charged battery to kill zombies then you're probably bad at melee combat. One of my favorite pastimes is finding an axe and then running around electro gathering as many zombies as possible and then seeing how many I can kill before one of them hits me. It's too bad their melee hits don't hurt each other. You could probably take down 20 of them without even taking your weapon out. PVE is a nice distraction sometimes. Still trying to find a good way to gather up a horde of zombies into the Novo admin building. B) -
should have bandaged you and force fed you some food/water. then waited.

Funny, I had a guy attack me with a cattle prod. Didn't work too well. Then I hit him with a stun baton with a fresh battery in the upper body. Seized up like a board and went unconscious. The swing speed is really fast and only takes one hit. Seemed easy enough for me. Maybe you've had bad luck?Oh. I checked the battery of the cattle prod my aggressor was using. Was drained entirely. That's why I won and he lost.
