So the way I read it was that the devs are going back to 0.54 loot system?
Parazight replied to HarryPotter (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Got my leg broke by a bear trap, in a cafe, in cherno this morning. It felt good. real good. -
It's my understanding that these scopes will spawn with the weapon, but are still attachments that can be switched out. Right? (so you can still use ironsights)

deadliest thing in this game is getting attached to your loot.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)

Two steps forward, one step back. It happens. I would've been surprised if persistence worked perfectly straight off. -
Sounds like a lot of work for something to *maybe* happen. Plus, you'll never be able to know if what you did killed someone or not. You have to be a special kind of sociopath to set up this type of murder.

Did anyone see a Mosin, Izh or FNX45 since 0.55 global loot update?
Parazight replied to SonicSonedit's topic in General Discussion
Found one in a toilet, in Nagornoe, yesterday, -
Now, let me start off this post by saying that I absolutely love the new .55 update. I've geared several new fresh spawns over multiple private shards in the last few days. It's been great. But I don't understand what the devs are trying to do. Now, I understand that they're in a unique position to have a playable product during the alpha stage of production, which may or may not be the most effective line of play. That topic we'll save for another day. Today, I'd like to address whether or not the "balancing of .55" was a good idea. See, the devs have really taken a leap of faith with the new patch. They've added multiple new systems, changed item loot drops drastically and taken a new stance on alpha balancing all at the same time. I'll preface an argument with the fact that devs (hicks) has said that we, as alpha testers, 'are not playing a game. We simply have access to developer builds.' This is an important declaration. This says to me; "Dayz is set up to simply function, it's not balanced in any way." And this makes sense! It's Alpha right? Not everything is implemented, we shouldn't expect game balancing until Beta production. .55 update introduced two major systems. Mandatory persistence and overhauled zombies. These are both game changers. If the latest update only had one of those new things, it would be big news. No. TWO major upgrades. And to top it off, devs take a new approach on game state balancing. This is where my issue comes in. (note: not so much an issue, mostly confusion. I love the new dayz!) While I'm all for making the game hard, it's really not productive to alpha testing. You can't really introduce content during alpha to make the game harder when all the systems are not in place. It's folly to make the zombies too challenging right now. I don't understand why they don't under-tune zombies during alpha and then actually make them hard during beta. Zombies are more difficult now. You're way more likely to take damage from them now. At the same time, the whole loot system just changed. We have mandatory persistence and the incoming, unforseen bugs that naturally accompany it. On top of that, what is spawning has also been changed. The combination of buggy alpha, new OP zeds, and buggy loot can be potentially overwhelming. So, zombies are more difficult now because of other unpolished alpha systems, not because they're hard to fight. I've geared several fresh spawns in .55. I've yet to find matches, a cooking pot or a frying pan. I've found only one flare. This really sucks because they've drastically altered the food spawn by changing drops AND implementing forced persistence. The hard part about surviving zombies is actually getting to healthy status, and keeping it, so that you regenerate blood. I have a number of toons right now on private shards who have a backpack full of raw cow steaks. I need to be able to cook these and eat them properly so that my next zombie encounter doesn't make my screen grayer, basically. Maybe I'm just really unlucky lately with finding needed loot, but I doubt it. So, the point of this thread, I guess, is to warn the devs not to make content in alpha too difficult because we have bugs and unfinished programming working against us as well. I'm all for a difficult experience, but tune the game during beta, not alpha, please. What do you think?

I love the game, but things like this make me nearly bend my wiener in a rage. Seriously.
Parazight replied to randmanq's topic in Gallery
You just learned that lesson the hard way. Prepare to die when you go on that ship. -
So, now that .55 is upon us, and everyone has had a chance to do some looting, has anyone found bear traps? I've searched deer stands, feed shacks, barn sheds, places that you'd think they'd spawn at. I've never even seen one. Anywhere? Where the bear traps at on stable??

You think you seen good sniping? You haven't seen nothing yet!
Parazight replied to StrawBerryGames's topic in Gallery
nice vid. Credit was given where due. Entertaining kills, whether it was sniping or not. -
All I'm saying is that the intention is to make DayZ authentic. The game isn't finished, so natually it doesn't feel as authentic as it will at launch. Realistic is a terrible goal for a video game. You're in pretty minimal danger sitting in a chair, pressing on a keyboard.
-
Authentic and realistic is not the same thing. Dayz is not designed to be realistic.

Has the increased difficulty had eny effect on KoS frequency?
Parazight replied to IgnobleBasterd's topic in General Discussion
I don't think the change will decrease kill on sight mentality at all. Honestly, once people realize how easy it is to avoid zombies, adapt to the persistence bugs, and keep themselves fed, they'll return to old habits. Learn to suicide in solnichniy to get a better respawn point. If it doesn't work out, run back to your corpse and eat it. Shoot your friend and eat him. A survivor can't live on just apples, amirite? The only dangerous zombies are the fast moving ones. Two shot them with your bare fists. Every other zombie you can easily lose via line of sight tactics. Set traps for tonight's dinner by kiting slow moving zombie friends into a police station. Close the doors. Run down the coast in a pink raincoat and fire extinguisher. Hunt for your food. See how long you can survive without leaving the coast. The tools are all there. It's not that bad, really. So, I predict extra bonus KOS frequency. -
For Everyone Complaining About The Loot........
Parazight replied to Bush_Wookieing_101's topic in General Discussion
5 days ago called. They want their hot topic back. The complaints were legitimate. Some servers were bugged pretty bad. Additionally, there was a serious decrease in quantity of food while matches, cooking pot, tripod, and whatnot weren't spawning at all. It would have been shocking if there was no backlash at all. The game isn't hard. Thanks for the public service tips. First world problems, wtf. -
There should be an option to steal a person's beans on these forums. Or at least the ability to force feed them rotten tomatoes.

[Wednesday "where are the servers?" merging topic]
Parazight replied to IgnobleBasterd's topic in General Discussion
Yes. All servers are broken. There was a meeting. As a result of all the backlash regarding persistence Brohemia decided to just go into super-alpha mode. Experimental is the new Stable. And the new experimental is actually a half eaten potato. -
PC wont shut down after playing Dayz Standalone
Parazight replied to ReallyNeedHelp's topic in Troubleshooting
The information you've provided is lacking. Hold down the power button until your PC shuts off, I suppose?? Perhaps your hardware/software is old/not updated/infected? -
It's a dev build when people whine about bugs. It's a game when people whine about it being too hard. Really, so, it's a dev build in alpha that has had some balancing so the product is presentable and generates income to fuel further development. Sometimes it's a dev build and sometimes it's a game, depending on your question, I guess.

further away from Wednesday the KOS comes on strong

What you're experiencing is not as intended. This is a private hive bug http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/223597-service-alert-private-shard-persistence/ -
Rich gets richer, the poor gets poorer
Parazight replied to Victorinox's topic in General Discussion
Simple solution: use your fists to kill infected. Fire Axe is terrible. Just stand there and go full auto mike tyson to his face. Brass knuckles can one shot civilian zombies. -
What do you think about the new update .55
Parazight replied to Survivor1965's topic in General Discussion
I love this update! You can one shot kill zombies with brass knuckles!!! Also, found a pristine sword at the top of a big yellow crane in berezino this morning. Motorcycle helmets are back!! -
I don't understand the 1pp vs 3pp debate. It is what it is. Everyone shares the good and the bad. No one has an inherent advantage. It's apples and oranges to me. There is no contest, just an additional option. I don't understand the notion that pvp is dying. It's a sandbox with other people and ways to kill other people. The game will always be about pvp. No mmo in the history gaming has ever provided challenging single player pve content. Ever. I challenge anyone to find challenging, single player content in a game where people can group up. Once you learn how to not die from diseases, it will be simple and easy. Pvp is about to get much more interesting with mandatory persistence and land mines/bear traps just around the corner. I'm super stoked for both. For real, this game is all about pvp and the pve elements are there to simply enhance your experience. "Anti-game" lol wut? This is a game. It's not hard and never will be. Please go explain to someone that's actually seen a warzone and real combat that DayZ is an antigame because it's survival is hard.

Excited for the Upcoming Disease & Cold System
Parazight replied to Deathlove's topic in General Discussion
I'm exited for the new system, for sure. It's not going to stop people from killing each other by any noticeable difference, however. The PVE elements are only a distraction from the real danger: other people. Especially during production, surviving PVE elements is going to be tuned down anyway, to test functionality. I can see it now over skype. "Hey bro, I got some orange disease bar" "Oh. Drop your stuff and respawn" "I'll hang onto your stuff." "Okay." Problem Solved.
