    Where is the DayZ population?

Hard to believe that people, who have already paid for the game, will not return because of moral standards. Bwahahaa. Next time a gift comes in the mail a day late I'm going to send it back with a letter attached telling the sender that I don't trust them anymore. I bet a lot of players are waiting on .63 stable.
  2. 1pp destroys the MMO experience. I always feel safe. Even during my time with 1PP pvp squads. There are no actual consequences. Permadeath doesn't exist. Doesn't seem game breaking to me. How can this statement NOT be totally subjective?? Maybe if you replace 'game' with 'reality'. Isn't DayZ meant to be a social experiment? So it's an MMO first. Either way, views are all subjective. What it 'should' be doesn't matter. I use corner peeking all the time to Chat-on-Sight. It's a great tool to find other players that you may not otherwise notice. Think of all the friendly interactions you're missing out on by not having 3PP! In my opinion, dying 90% of the time to corner-peek-sniping is absolutely worth an interesting 10% of the time where it's not just Killing on Sight. In the end, it doesn't really matter what the developers' vision is. The only thing that matters is what it will naturally evolve to be and how players use the game to do what they're gonna do. The original idea was to create a lawless social experiment where people can choose to interact how they wish. It's noble that the intent was to create an atmosphere where your decisions create consequences in a social environment, but ultimately it's pointless and dumb because there are no real consequences, moral or practical. You can kill a person in-game and not be a bad person because there's no real world consequence. With the introduction of multiple characters and limitless persistence options, permadeath is no longer a factor. Experiencing permadeath was real back around the time of ~.20 and matched the intention of the original vision, but that game-state wasn't a practical vision for a video game company. Thus, the title evolved from the intended vision to what it actually is now. So, what it 'should' be is subjective and off the mark to what actually happens. Honestly, you don't have to ever leave the coast to experience the endgame vision. Social interaction is heavily available on the coast AND you can find all the best loot there (on other players). It's funny that zones were created to promote progression across the map when it's completely impractical. Survival will never be hard because you don't have to stay alive for extended periods in order interact with others, which is what DayZ 'should' be about, right? Once a player realizes that loot doesn't really matter (permadeath no longer exists)(try to not get distracted by the shiny) and doesn't really affect social interaction, then what's the point of DayZ again? Here, the 3PP vs 1PP debate comes full circle. How people use it. Often, 3PP gets the negative connotation of being a tool to help players KoS easily. Perhaps it should be viewed as a way to interact safely with complete strangers, which is how I use it. In the end, it's all pretty subjective, no matter what side of the fence you're on. The reality is that it isn't a wise business decision to remove 3PP, and that's far more important than game design vision. Removing 3PP,..
  3. Corner peeking is the devil, for sure. A workaround is to not put yourself in a position where you'll be a victim of it. Easier said than done, I know. Patient observation is critical. Also, I would bet that players die to their own bad decisions more often than to corner peeking exploitation. The other workaround is to embrace death. Become callous to it. Having multiple characters and stashes helps to mitigate the sting of permadeath. (note that permadeath isn't even a thing anymore) I've always liked the fact that 3PP provides an extra boost of awareness that makes up for a lack of it in other areas. Sound triangulation, the realities of computer rendering, total lack of sense of smell, and not being able to detect subtle body language are but a few examples of where a computer game just can't deliver like reality. 3pp (and eye zoom) help to bridge the gap where awareness suffers due to the limitations and nature of interacting with a computer screen. Can anyone name a title of an MMO that only provided a first person perspective that was widely successful?

If the 'healthy' status returns. Stews / casseroles

The benefits are real. I guess I've yet to experience a moment when dealing with the environment was harder while grouped up. Please note that I'm in the camp that believes that PVE will never be difficult, solo or grouped up. Hence, the issue I briefly touched upon regarding PVE in a sandbox.

    Current Experimental Patch 0.63

So, you're inferring that the company isn't doing anything? That's absurd. Scripting in the Arma engine doesn't take five years, huh? Clearly you haven't been following game development progression here at all.

If the 'healthy' status returns. Stews / casseroles

I like the idea of advanced cooking. Emuthreat wants to make a sammich. Human on whole wheat, with a dollop of honey mustard, please. There are already many benefits to forming a stable group. The most obvious is your chance of survival versus hostile players. Dealing with infected, sharing loot, navigation, and camaraderie are just some of the already present benefits of grouping up. Typical of a sandbox where the biggest threat is other players, it's difficult to balance the difficulty of the lone wolf versus the environment. As soon as you group up with someone it becomes so much easier. The game is one big instance. AI has to be reasonable when you're on your own. Reasonable when you're a fresh spawn and when you're fully kitted. But when you group up, especially when properly armed, the environment is little more than a bump in the road. This has been a balancing hurdle for open world sandboxes for decades.

    Current Experimental Patch 0.63

    1. You do know that mechanics, items, and features have to be added back into the game because the core of the game, the engine, was reworked? right? 2. Unconsciousness and player restraints are coming soon. They are related and are currently being worked on. This is a high priority item. 3. The devs are excited to see modding and what the community can do with it. Unfortunately, DayZ is not in a state where it's practical to release modding tools. Speak for yourself. Not everyone is disappointed. No. Bohemia Interactive is a legitimate business. It's a smaller company without unlimited resources, made up of regular people. This company no doubt thoroughly realizes that finishing their product is much more profitable than 'stalling'. Just because the company isn't totally transparent (no company is) doesn't mean that they're lazy. Honestly, it's hard to understand how your other post on these forums asks to completely re-do the map and central economy then followed by this one which sort of asks the devs to 'hurry up.' good luck. :)

    Calling in the troops!

I've always been a fan of the idea to weaponize the infected. Not that they should have any type of proficiency with a firearm, but at least to be able to pull a trigger on a loaded weapon. This would be great, in my opinion, as it would 'call in the troops' as you say.

    Chernaus Facelift (Chernarus 2020)

So, you're asking to completely overhaul the entire map and loot system? Because it's boring? No it's not. I assume you're not talking about player versus player survival here considering how your post is about finding food and map changes. Not dying to the environment won't be hard at 1.0. The devs are at work re-implementing a ton of mechanics and have been working on map changes for 5 years now. Unlikely they will scrap the entire map and remodel all of the assets, as you're sort of suggesting.
  10. haha Sorry, this isn't exactly the first thread on this topic. To answer your question directly, I don't know what I would do. Social Interaction is important to me. I'd have to wait and see if I'd leave or not. I enjoy 1PP, but there's a ton of people in 3rd. Would DayZ survive being 1PP only? It's not black or white.
  11. It isn't even a remote possibility.

    Internationl dayZ trailer 2018

Personally, I'm waiting for .63 stable before I promote DayZ too much. Honestly, I've been telling gamers to watch streams of people they might know that play DayZ. Named streamers are great for selling the game. I tell people IRL to have a look and decide for themselves. The last thing I'd want is for someone to watch some artsy video, get the wrong idea, and then feel cheated. There are a bunch of top-notch trailers already out there with some incredible skill behind them. The vid that nl linked is a good one. Also, .63 is incomplete so there's a lot of content that hasn't been seen. Thus, a lot of content missing from trailers. Props, I guess, for trying to get a hashtag started.

And yet another Bug with this broken game...

See, it’s going to be hard to win people over with these sort of statements. So what exactly is the point of starting this thread? To point out that fans of dayz are dumb? Did you come here to be hostile and demand that people agree with you? How are you being constructive at all? Were you honestly surprised that there is a dayz sect of fanboys? Why are you trying to start fights??

And yet another Bug with this broken game...

Wow. I haven’t seen a troll as angry as this one in a LONG time. This is a level of nerd rage that the fanboi masses aren’t normally privy to. Rare indeed. It’s not often we get fully grown adults to completely melt down like this, so appreciate it while you can. Take it all in. Breathe deep the noxious absurdity.

Going Hardcore is "how to expell"

This thread needs more logic, facts and supporting evidence. And a lot less subjective bad feelings and conjecture.

    Stress-Test forever?

The faith path is broken. The friendship garden has been trampled. The trust rope has become unraveled. The patience T-shirt is now frayed and soiled with grape soda. Doomsday is coming. The halfway house at the state fair only serves up battered women who don't go all the way. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
  17. You'll always be able to find food. It respawns all over the east coast and carries rags. Occasionally, it carries additional loot with them.

    Where is the Headbob option

Absolutely agree with removing head-bob. While it doesn't affect me, headbob motion sickness is legitimate. No one gets motion sickness because they're bad at the game. These people don't have this penaly in real life and it has nothing to do with skill. Definitely NOT authentic. I imagine game developers aren't afflicted by it, because, well, they're game developers. So, it may be more difficult to realize. Bad idea.
  22. GPUs are rather expensive right now. The GTX 1100 series has been delayed, so depending on whether you're willing to wait or not, getting a 1000 series, even a 1050ti isn't terrible for DayZ, iirc. A 1050ti might even be quite a bit cheaper than a 1060, and nearly as good. What do you think? good luck.

    Feedback on 0.63 Exp.

After Stress test #2, I rebound mouse wheel up to use as a weapon raise toggle and eye zoom to right mouse button hold. It's been great.
  24. Most of the time, I like to run up and down the coast, especially during stress tests. I mean, there's no persistence anyway, you have nothing to lose. If it doesn't work out, you get a free respawn! Approaching strangers and seeing how they react is actually quite interesting. 10% of the time. I'd say. Actually, I wont ever have to leave the coast. Why do all that running anyway when you can have hidden stashes everywhere with persistence? :0 Sure, I get killed on sight all the time. Not really a big deal when you have 12 minutes invested and 4 other hidden stashes by that other tree. Anyway, it's a shame people just try to practice their punching skills on you ~90% of the time, sometimes, instead of using their microphones. It's weird how people are social creatures, huh?
