  1. Just think about all the console users that are totally clueless and have no idea that DayZ has been in development for so long. Hopefully the squeaky wheels of the impatient PC veteran will be drowned out by the thundering roar of the console machine user base.

    Why I'm excited.

It's a nice thing to have to consider your time investment, huh? Refreshing to know that everyone else isn't forced to kill you, social interaction actually exists, and that you won't be at nothing again in 30 minutes or less. Edit; oh wait, this is the xbox forum. This may or may not play out like it does on PC. *shrug*

    Melee is WAY too slow

If you plan ahead properly, you can take on 2-3 zeds, with your bare fists, and never get hit. Took me half a game play session to figure it out. Being able to block effectively makes combat ridiculously easy versus the infected. Be mindful of the loot you carry and you'll never have issues with having to drop things in order to fight. Additionally, surviving the pve elements, such as the infected, will never be difficult. People will always be able to figure out the AI. The real question will always be human vs human, which requires a holistic approach to combat, not just a focus on melee combat, hence my previous post.

    Melee is WAY too slow

Okay, so the premise of DayZ is that everyone was exposed to the infection and those who weren't turned are naturally immune to it. Players take the role of those who are lucky enough to be unaffected. Those who turned to zeds are not just weaker humans, thus, players are not super-human. The danger with making melee combat too strong is that it then turns the meta into a devolution of zig-zagging hip-firing/directional pointing ambush tactics or long range sniping. Mid-range combat with lower level firearms becomes a much more non-viable alternative. Now, I realize that movement and swing speed are different, but they still affect one another. Maybe the best advice is to wait until all of the combat mechanics and player controller functions are all up and running before evaluating combat balance. Personally, in .62 stable, it sure feels like you're on equal footing with someone who is armed with a gun, and at 20 meters away whereas the person with the handgun should logically have an advantage. .63 isn't perfectly balanced yet, but it just doesn't seem like you can take a solid gamble and ignore firearms as much.

    The Main Problem with Consoles

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that modding support will be inferior. That's the only problem that I see with consoles. Really? all pc players? any game?

    Melee is WAY too slow

Possibly true. Finding the right balance by considering multiple game factors will be paramount here. Player health pool, infected hp, infected attack speed, infected attack damage, infected awareness levels, number of infected nearby, damage levels of various weapons, and stamina are but a few things the team needs to consider while balancing melee combat. The combat has to be balanced, it doesn't really have to be realistic. In fact, making it realistic probably isn't ideal. God forbid we have to resort to the Global Cooldown. Re: item switching. I do hope that they find a great solution for when you need a melee weapon in hand RIGHT NOW. Players have had complaints about losing items due to switching items in hand. Sometimes there's room in your bag, sometimes items got dropped. There is no simple solution. I'm sure a simple and elegant solution would be appreciated, but what is it?

    Game Preview Access

Do you have references? Why haven't you been keeping abreast of the information regarding the game development? Do you have any experienced in providing feedback during software development? Instead of asking for more information, why haven't you just browsed any of the other identical threads in this sub-forum for your answers?
  8. By resources, you mean employees. You can't just turn up the resources knob here. BI isn't a huge company, either. It has to consider the company's production alongside employee growth. It has a budget. Additionally, there are various specializations within game development. You can't just toss more devs on a bug fire and expect it to go out.

Arcteryx LEAF as Tier 1 Military gear

These items are completely unnecessary. It's not broken. There's plenty of selection available. Ridiculous argument. Based on what? Have you done any actual research? Or are you just making this up? "OMG. Look at this huge selection of camo gear in DayZ. I must have it!!" DayZ and Arma4 are separate entities. Assets aren't ported over from wherever, by default. Also, that's not a caveat.

    Close preview question

    Rude. He gave a reason.

    I know, but be patient.

Semantics. At the end of the day, it's not a finished product. And it's not in beta yet, despite how impatient people are. And you come off as one of the most impatient people on these forums. Look at Saylor's ridiculous simile about how a patron received a meal and then gave a bad review. Okay, a served meal is a finished product. DayZ is not finished in any way. It has not been served up. It's still roasting in the pot. I realize that people here are hungry. And it's fine if people lament about how their tummy hurts (I guess) because they're hungry for playing the title. Fucking first world problems right there. Yes, stop the madness. The madness of simply saying "this is taking too long", based on nothing. Maybe, personally, I think that development is moving far too rapidly. It's been said before and it's true; whining isn't going to move production along any faster and only serves to help people feel better.

    I know, but be patient.

The problem with your logic is that DayZ isn't a game.

    I know, but be patient.

    Hahaha.
  14. Parazight

How can I help translate DayZ into other languages?

Can you? Are you asking a question?
  15. Thanks Eugen. These kind of reports are great.

A Thank You Is In Order

Nobody wants to see BSODs. While they are designed to shut down your system before ‘real’ damage appears, they still do harm. Bad sectors is not something you want. Corrupt adjacent sectors/files are a real issue. It’s not unreasonable to be upset. Solopopo started a new thread here thanking the devs for addressing the issue after his previous thread was locked. There really wasn’t a need to lock the other thread, IMO. Moderation on these forums is often knee-jerk and inconsistent anyways. If you look hard enough you can also find months old bot posts. I report them all the time. The point being is that the forums are not tended to regularly. Which is fine, I guess. Fine until we get BSODs. Communication could be better. Then again, it could be worse.
  17. I had to reread this thread to find the purpose. From what I understand, the point of this thread is to say that dayz missed the opportunity. Because of hype reasoning. Based on a fair amount of hyperbole. Note that the enfusion engine that they created for this project is not going to be retired after dayz is published. They will profit off of it. It’s true, it can seem like a long time. However, I’d like to see some actual facts and evidence supporting the idea that if a game spends X amount of time in early access then it misses the opportunity. Cuz I’m not seein’ it here.

    Stamina and energy levels?

You can customize the interface by holding or tapping the tilde. Personally, I think it’s a great design being able to hide or display indicators on the fly.
  19. Plz report to feedback tracker.
  20. Well, when I said that 1PP destroys the MMO experience it was, more or less, to throw out a subjective opinion just as easily as Biohaze subjectively claimed that 3PP destroys the DayZ experience. That said, you lost me when you started talking about skill based MMOs. There is no doubt that the upper tier of WoW is definitely skill based. Teams of players make a living off of WoW by getting sponsored to stream end-game raiding. Blizzard gives away tens of thousands of dollars at their PVP tournaments. There's a lot of instances where it's catered to the casual gamer, but at the very top, it is very much skill based. I couldn't even imagine playing WoW in first person, even though it's totally doable.

    A Serious Problem

Props to the devs for responding to appropriately placed issues and fixing DayZ. Time to fire it back up. The feedback tracker really does work, guys!!! Really now. Mental note, ask Guy Smiley for computer advice never.

    A Serious Problem

Your posts come off as very hostile. Mind boggling that you can't see this. You're throwing out insults and then chastising people who react. You've linked the troubleshooting section no less than three times now in this thread. There are threads on these forums that are misplaced all the time. Why are you so adamant here and not anywhere else? Multiple people all of sudden getting BSOD who use DayZ who normally don't have problems. Gamers on this forum and other sites start reporting this problem at the same time. Simple reasoning points the finger at DayZ. It's not the responsibility of every consumer to know the fine details of computer hardware and programming, and be able to troubleshoot it. It's on the publishers of software/hardware to make sure their products perform. He's facing this problem with both Win7 and Win10. He's posted on the feedback tracker without getting any type of response. The feedback tracker is a totally reasonable place to address this issue.
