I seem to lose tents, barrels, sea chests and drybags about every week or so, on average. I don't really store anything in them anymore. I do however use them just to see how often i would be losing them. ADAs however, have been great. My current base includes 4 cars as storage and one or two random barrels for hoarding wolf steaks. Hasn't persistence always been a problem tho? Since, like, 2013? Is this even a problem that's unique to BI games. Is it really solvable? I've basically given up on long term storage, much less try to ever build bases again. No one knows, I'd bet. Standard new spawn loadout includes a knife, which you can F11 with

I suggest a minor tweak to loot on zombies for the base game. A simple change might be to replace food spawning on zombies with Burlap Sack and Netting. Right now, there is too much food overall. The ambient food spawns (animals/fruit) are a great part of the experienced and should be pushed. At the very least, replace canned food with simple fruit on zombies. Leave a little for fresh spawns, but tone it down, please. Right now, a new spawn can easily survive solely off of ambient apples, pears, etc. In addition to having too much food, there's not enough netting or burlap sacks. The core gameplay loop can afford to have more of both. Netting is pretty worthless to a new spawn and doesn't spoil the new player experience as a fresh spawn. Burlap Sacks are one of the game's best items. It is the perfect item for new customers to experience crafting. Both Improvised Backpacks and ghillie clothing for late game. There can never be too many Burlap Sacks. Making ghillie suits is a fantastic time sink. If more sacks were available, ghillie suits would be a realistic possibility.

How I Became The Best Player In DayZ

Yea. Dawn and dusk are a problem. I avoid driving right after the sun goes down. But the middle of the night isn't as bad.
-
Exactly! Later! Right now, diseases aren't in the game. That's fine and all, but, this is 1.0+ The game should be balanced for the here and now.
-
I wouldn't even create a poll. I understand that balancing needs to happen and the developers are probably aware. I'm positive they'll readdress it.

So the old bad server browser get replaced by one even worse?
Parazight replied to Evilsausage's topic in General Discussion
If you're spamming buttons then it's going to gum it up. The server browser has been working fine for me. If you select your options, navigate properly and wait for it to do its thing then you shouldn't have too many issues. One tip is to let it populate fully, then change filters. The latest update is definitely a big improvement over the first 1.0 release. -
Honestly, this is a pretty terrible poll. I won't be voting. Of course people want proper implementation of a mechanic. Who in their right mind would want improper implementation? That's ridiculous. Option one is to agree to common sense. Option two requires the reader to come up with their own solution. Possibly an improper solution. This requires a bunch of extra work, relatively speaking. Not practical for a poll. Option three suggests that you'd want improper implementation. It's really hard to believe that the devs would demand that the current balance is set in stone, so this poll sort of comes off as whining, imo.

No idea. I found a kit during 1.0 before this patch. I used it. I saw the results. Find items and play around. It’s not hard.
-
They were back in before this patch. If you use a blood test kit, it will tell you your blood type next to the icon on the user interface.

Honestly, it sounds like you weren’t properly prepared. -use consistent keybindings. -don’t be in a position where you have to run from zombies. Deal with them or be sure you can avoid them. -check your UI regularly. -don’t attempt to log out while zombies are beating on you. -dont fat finger the controls. -remain calm PVE is so easy if you take your time. I’ve yet to die from the environment, except when I was being reckless.
-
Yes, additional balance passes need to be considered. Everything needs to be implemented before balancing is worth doing, however.

I’m not sure if lasting persistence applies to ruined items. Cars, tents, or otherwise. A couple of friends and I were in a LADA. I ran into a tree (it was dark, okay!) north of Grishino, under the bridge. Luckily we saw a car spawn just down the road, to the south, by that red house. So we gathered most of the stuff that we could, (everything else was still pristine) fixed up our new ride, and drove back north again. Not even 15 minutes had passed since crashing the car when we drove past the crash site. The car had already despawned. All without a server interruption. So anyway, I bet ruined items still cycle into the nether, regardless of what they are, as long as there are no players within a given vicinity. Perhaps this is what happened with your tent. Server restart, or crash, vacated the vicinity, and natural despawning occurred. Hard for me to be sure, of course. I’ve had zero issues with car persistence since .63 went to stable, so I assumed everything worked as intended. No issues even when stashes and tents were getting nuked. Interesting(?) note was that the car seemed to respawn exactly where we had originally found it, after the next server restart. Hopefully this helps in some way. *shrug*

Vehicle power hold (W) brake hold/strange brake (S)
Parazight replied to Sqeezorz's topic in Suggestions
Personally, I wouldn't use a cruise control function. Especially this cruise-control-braking idea. Feathering the gas and/or brake doesn't seem too terribly difficult. And I don't know about this turbo thing, Unless, of course, I can loot and implement nitrous oxide. Which the game doesn't need. -
The developers never intended DayZ to be realistic. Only authentic. There's a distinct difference. If it was realistic there wouldn't be zombies. It would take you months to grow crops, not a single play session. Respawning wouldn't be an option. It's a game. Assembled by zeros and ones. If you think the game is diarrhea and toilet paper, then why are you here? No one here pushed the devs to make them do something they can't do. BI does whatever it wants. That's always been their modus operandi. Thank goodness.

Wait, what? Are you sure the people that are okay with it are using gamma hacks? That's not even possible anymore. And using nvidia geforce to alter your gamma is pretty ineffective now. Are you basing your information off of months old knowledge cuz that sounds like a bunch of bull.

Did some server hopping. For Science. Using the same head torch, just minutes apart, you can notice the difference. I don't know if there is some simple setting, but whatever, bad lighting sucks. Note that I didn't change anything on my end other than jumping back and forth a couple times between 2 nighttime servers. Server settings cause this, maybe? If your game looks like the first picture then I suggest you jump ship. No wonder some people are up in arms and some people say that it's not bad. Bad lighting: Good lighting:

DEVS?when there are diseases examble of eating meat raw?
Parazight replied to kopo79's topic in General Discussion
Maybe they want to show that cooking is a thing? It's not always about min/max everything. Try to just have fun. Sometimes the game isn't about seeing how fast you can acquire items, how many people you can kill, how fast you can travel, or more/less how productive you can be. Why bother hunting animals when you can just find a shovel and eat raw worms? Why leave the coast? You can fight with a stone knife and just collect apples! Why play video games at all? How practical is that? -
nope.

1.0 ? Dont expect anything until coders say so...
Parazight replied to marcheur's topic in New Player Discussion
Yea. I know. It's great that a person can loot all of these completely worthless items at launch. Maybe they should have put m4a1 into the game but left out 5.56 ammo. You know, in the same vein. *shrug* -

Sorry, I was just parroting the sage advice from the thread creator. And no, this is an easy game. At least surviving the elements is. Other players is a whole other thing. Definitely not a fair game though. That's a good thing. My point was that it shouldn't have been showcased in the 1.0 Gameplay Trailer. Obviously storage persistence and the loot economy cycle are not the same thing. 45-day storage persistence, imo, isn't necessary at all as a core element. There's no reason it has to be a core gameplay feature. Further, it probably shouldn't be trotted out as a core element if it's not working, which they did by selling the idea with the gameplay trailer. -
If you were in a car when the server ended, and were travelling, the car is usually up ahead of where you're standing. Maybe it's just for you. Every time I've been driving a car and the server restarted, the car has ALWAYS returned, with all the stuff in it.

1.0 ? Dont expect anything until coders say so...
Parazight replied to marcheur's topic in New Player Discussion
Maybe the real problem is that they showcased the DayZ 1.0 Gameplay Trailer with basebuilding elements. And cars. Maybe they should have stuck to selling the product without teasing basebuilding and cars. Originally, iirc, DayZ was about surviving, zombies, and other players. Basebuilding was kind of added as a thing for modders to play with. Original plan was to have the title be mod-friendly. Basebuildings helps sell this, but was it part of the core features? Should it be? Well, it is now!! Related,(?) Has anyone seen a truck on 1.0? I have a large stash of truck batteries, wheels, and hoods saved up. Still looking for a glow plug and a diesel pump though. -

I know how you feel. I've been waiting for WoW to finish so I can play it. It's almost been 15 years and they keep releasing content. They are close to perfection. I think they be almost done. Problem is coming from one word: almost. Don't trust anything. Don't be a new player. or only when it's free.
