I followed that link, too. Doesn't seem legit. Did I mention that they had the 1.07 patch notes!? All I found was third party hearsay. The problem with what that article says is that the game developers don't get to make all of the decisions. Dean and Brian don't work for Bohemia anymore. This is significant. They never had any right determining what to charge for products. The code nerds don't control the money behind Bohemia. This is a business entity and they have every right to charge for products. This is basic business, folks. The money from the Livonia map helps BI, and it's employees, pay bills, make more games, and prosper. Consumers are entitled to nothing. Honestly, it's not even a lot of money for a typical online gamer.

DayZ, you are killing yourself by doing this.

That is one adorable troll attempt. -

I don't understand why the OP is so full of conjecture and rude to people. This isn't how you get people to sympathize with a rant. -
The car was running, but at 0 km/h, and in second gear. The bear collided with the car and took damage. The bear repeated this. It looked like the vehicle held aggro. The bear died on top of the car. The two people in the car took no damage and the car took no damage. I think this is the correct balance. We don't want animals damaging cars. Until bear AI is finely honed and game physics bugs are all worked out, the current set-up is ideal. We don't want to be taking damage ourselves and we don't want animals ruining our cars until all the game's bugs are worked out.

The bear kept running into the car, which was stopped, until it died.

The dankest features eva. Straight from the Emerald Triangle itself. -
Is this game New player and/or Solo player friendly
Parazight replied to wesmane's topic in New Player Discussion
This MMO is best played with other people. It's definitely easier when you group up with friends. There are videos available in the Gallery forum to help you make an informed purchase. -
Yea, screw capitalism and the internet that it provides!

So, with proposed 'server meshing,' which server does my bullet land in? Wow has *many* instances. And a targeting system.

How do you know this?

I'm not sure why they changed how the inventory works. It's been problems since the new in-hands/ghost item was re-introduced. I thought the old design was fine. I liked the 1.05 system. In my opinion, there should just be an icon that appears near your hotbar when you're holding something that might get dropped. Having the current safety net seems out of place.

Or find a pickaxe. A pickaxe can make a garden plot or mine large stones from rocks around the map. These Large Stones can be mined further into small stones. You can yield many stone knives from a pickaxe (or sledgehammer).

Yea. It's so easy. Go down a trail. Just walk. Go loot about some structures. 20 minutes later, go down that trail again. Ambient spawn mechanics will produce stones and mushrooms, and loot cycling/checks occur. Once you understand zones and how the central economy behaves, it's super easy to live off of the environment. Besides feeding yourself, negotiating with zombies is the only real factor. Experience tells when there's too many (something new in 1.06) and how to pull them. Melee weapons DO wear out but you can one shot almost all non-military zombie with half stamina and a splitting axe. Block right before the zombie hits you and then jab to the face with an axe. Game over every time. You can take no damage as long as you have stamina reserves.

Generate new spawn body. Server hop to another Chernarus. Loot a backpack. Kill a chicken. Craft a fishing hook. Catch, cook, and eat a mackerel. Loot some more. Server hop to Livonia. You can find vegetables in greenhouses and cut them up to grow more crops. Just find a shovel to make your plot. The rain will water the garden. A single seed can solve all of your water problems. This has limited effectiveness. I once threw up after eating 20 tomatoes! Imagine that! I think there's also heavy diminishing returns on raw vegetables, for hunger. However, a cooked mackerel once took me from red to full white food buff! Fishing is for real. Find a trail. Find two stones, craft a knife. Cut down a long stick. Cut up 12 rags and make a rope. Use rope and stick to make a fishing rod. Use stone knife and bones to make a hook. Dig up worms with stone knife. When it starts to rain, dig a plot and plant some seeds. By the time it's over, you'll be ready to harvest.

Welcome to the planet earth, guys. We have capitalism here. Nice work BI!

Let me tell you a whimsical tale. It's of a magical world where Chernarus and Livonia coexist in harmony within one central economy.

I typed up a huge list of what I'd be willing to pay in order to have features implemented and then the power went out. So, I'm just gonna list a couple of things. Nothing to do with the master race, however. Bears: 1.3 euros Toilet paper for the outhouses: 3 euros Spray Paint for my M4: 1.267 euros tanning leather: .4 euros banana in my gun holster: 1 euros fire extinguisher loot explosions: 5 euros

What Greensek said. Please don't worry about nighttime lighting. Extremely low priority. Fix bugged hands and flying cars first. Get bears in there. I don't understand how people can think the devs don't know what the current lighting effects are set as.

Okay, I get the feeling that we want similar experiences out of DayZ but vary in opinion over some things. And that's fine. Well, my stance on hardcore survival hasn't changed, for the last five years I've argued that hardcore survival is impossible, due to the nature of the game. If you mean hardcore PVP then this isn't the best arena for that experience. Holdups and torture are garbage. There are no moral consequences for anything you do in DayZ. Permadeath isn't a thing because permanent storage is available on day zero. No one really has anything to lose at a holdup. When it's not fun, just relog and start over. The loss is pretty insignificant, regardless of your gear. I have a number of hours into DayZ and I've yet to see any kind of hold-up situation that is actually legitimate. Here's the real problem. Anyone that would pose an actual threat knows well enough that people will try to look harmless. This isn't some secret tech you got here. People who are a threat to you will always assume that you have a firearm, regardless if there appears to be one on your back. The hotbar thing comes down to convenience. If we make the change that you suggest it will only make me spend more time at the inventory screen. Holistically, there are other things that un-balance the game so much more than this 'issue'.

You would be extremely wealthy if the world was based on conjecture and ellipses. No doubt. I can see that you're new here so I advise to just let things happen when they happen and not make statements promising release dates.

The arguments to compartmentalize item slots seem weak to me. Doing it for reasons to favor 'better' combat situations over other gameplay elements seems narrow to me. This is where I point towards people who prefer to avoid combat and want a 'hardcore survival' experience. I don't think it hiners good gameplay at all. In fact, I think it encourages better gameplay as you actually have to plan ahead and cant just react to combat situations right as they arise. The example of hold-ups is garbage. Hold-ups don't reflect reality in any way and is completely unrealistic and unauthentic. There are no moral consequences, it's a huge waste of everyone's time. Whenever you're bored of being held up and/or tortured you simply log off and respawn. Nowhere even close to authentic. So, the argument to authenticity with item slots or how fast you can pull out a weapon is completely dwarfed by the fact that this will always be a video game and the situations you encounter are pretty far from reality, which is what this suggestion of compartmentilization is based off of. Lastly, don't ruin the game by introducing more reasons to necessitate inventory management. This is exactly what the developers have tried to get rid of. They want you in your inventory panel as little as possible. Be prepared and you won't run in to the problems associated with being unprepared.

Yea, and it should take months to grow crops. And how come we haven't added sense of smell to the game? And why is there no toilet paper in the game? Unreasonable!
