Perhaps the point here is that a game needs to have servers supported by the company that publishes it. Official servers of any MMO are inherently legitimate. It's almost necessary. Official servers shows that the software company is willing to support their own product. Active maintenance, hands-on support dealing with issues, and a paid team that works with servers shows consumers that they stand behind their product. If servers are not subscription based then they're not making money. Is it logical to support something like this if it's not making money? Will subscriptionZ servers make money? Investing money into a team of employees, to run servers, by a company that already has a lackluster focus on marketing seems risky. Subscription is a fine idea. Community servers as the best option is unprofessional.

No point in starting as a new player.
Parazight replied to RagingGinger's topic in New Player Discussion
I remember those days. Relish that time. The journey of discovery. The adrenaline rush of sudden combat when you're beyond lost. Two steps forward, three steps back. Surviving on your own is very much possible. Try finding a like-minded community or select a different type of server! -
I'd believe it. If this was a regular to that server, as you and your base apparently are, then it's not absolutely shocking that someone would break into somewhere and not take anything. I've done that myself as well. It's more about the feat of breaking in than actually taking anything. Also, nails are one of the few items that you can never have enough of. Maybe a regular on that server took your nails because they have a base, too. There's also the line of thinking that if you don't steal everything then the base 'owner' wont move it, thus leaving a fruit bearing tree to harvest. Anyway, your request wont be fulfilled. Especially on an official server. Just think of how that would open the flood door to frivolous, infinite, and non-profitable requests that devs would have to address. Perhaps you should reconsider where you stash your loot. Bases are most definitely the worst places to hide loot. Go to your base, walk 200 meters past it, and bury your VSS in an underground stash. Good luck.

[Feedback] Zombies are too easy to fight. The game should incentivize using guns more against zombies.
Parazight replied to desert_cat's topic in General Discussion
Should arm infected with shotguns, imo. Even if they have no aim whatsoever. They'll attract their friends while other survivors will have to wonder if it is a player or AI. -
What if you don't feel a need for random future allies? What if you've done your share of new player babysitting and you have a gaggle of homies already? We both shoot! Because there's no real risk. What exactly can a person lose when the only thing of real value is experience? It's a sandbox with guns and people. The most entertaining thing is shooting your brother because you want to see how your buddy on discord will react. It is true theatre from the get go. The risk/reward matrix goes right out the window as soon as you understand that survivors in a desperate situation would obviously band together. Sociopaths are the first to be put down. But here, in DayZ, it's fun to shoot at people because rational people know that they won't be punished. This game is so great. Kill people with no actual, or virtual consequences!

Make non-carnivorous wildlife also potentially dangerous to players
Parazight replied to Brother Hao's topic in Suggestions
Okay, brown bears are an omnivore. Wild hogs are also omnivores. Omnivores eat meat and plants, like humans. Thus, not non-carnivorous. That leaves us with no dangerous, non-carnivorous animals in DayZ. Again, you tend to make a lot of suggestions on these forums without stating the why. There's rarely a case where you use facts and history to convince people that your suggestion is worthwhile. It makes it look like some random idea and you're not putting effort into the task, and you haven't really thought it through. This isn't helping your case. Constructive criticism and suggestions are perfectly fine, and welcomed! Calling someone salty because they critique your ideas and you don't happen to like the answer isn't a great counter-argument. -
Make non-carnivorous wildlife also potentially dangerous to players
Parazight replied to Brother Hao's topic in Suggestions
You're going to use some shit video where animals are provoked and then filmed as the backbone to your ridiculous assertion that otherwise passive animals are dangerous? The people in the video even say that this is rare behavior. Try using actual dialog and reasoning to make your point. Tell me, which non-carnivorous animals in DayZ should I be afraid of? Keep in mind that I have an assault rifle and probably loads of experience killing infected. -
Make non-carnivorous wildlife also potentially dangerous to players
Parazight replied to Brother Hao's topic in Suggestions
Based on what scientific evidence? And where are these offspring? So, if i punch a chicken, I should be worried about getting attacked by other chickens? Sheep, fish, pigs, and goats are legitimately dangerous? You make a lot of suggestions for additions but never provide any great reasoning for any of them. -
Convince yourself that loot is not important, because it isn't. If you deem that your loot isn't important then there is no loss when you lose it. Because this isn't really a loot based game. It's a game about social interaction. Loot is really easy to get because it's a MMO with no linear progression. The only thing of value is experience. Find a like minded community and enjoy killing and being killed! Good luck.

Western Vybor. Right between the cinema and bathroom complex, across from the McDonald's. There's a terminal. You can't miss it.

The DayZ Hacker Problem (You will not like this)
Parazight replied to tandwan's topic in General Discussion
Dont hate on public transportation, plz. Public transportation is a great opportunity to interact with other humans in LR 'Literal Reality'. Also good for the environment. Is DayZ good for the environment?? The results are pending. Everything else is hard to disagree with. -
The version always gets updated a week or so after PC. Crossplay is never going to happen. How would you install PC mods? This topic has been brought up many times. Try doing a search next time, please. Fancy text is a great way to convince people to do things. You almost had me.

That's not a helicopter. That is a picture of a helicopter. A helicopter is something that has gone through playtesting, is live on the official servers, is supported by paid staff, and the bugs have been worked out. If you can't check off each of these things then what you have is a waste of effort working on something that wont gain momentum. Once you start adding your own toppings, it is no longer a legitimate McDonald's hamburger. Related, it would probably behoove BI to do what Blizzard has done. And that is to take popular mods, consider them, and then implement them. WoW has been turning mod ideas into official code and it has been successful. Will Bohemia do this? Doubtful. BI has always done what they wanted to do without giving two shits what other people think, to their own benefit/misfortune.

There are no forum channels here to report this, really. Your best bet is to go through Steam/Valve and Battleeye. Maybe their forums. This website, from the beginning, has directed such things that way. Good luck.

I don't really have enough information to make an informed decision on this specific case. That said, there are some details that raise questions. These barns are bulletproof now? How are you sure that they didn't miss with any shots? Maybe he sprayed the structure with a VSS, with armor piercing rounds? Would you have reported this if you didn't die? I'm not saying that cheaters don't exist or that you're not a victim, but I'm not really seeing enough data about the situation to make me believe that authorities would want to take action.

There's no reason to put helicopters in DayZ. I would only guess that Bohemia would be interested in putting helis in Arma 4 and make it a selling point to attract consumers. Honestly, helicopters are completely unauthentic in DayZ. Real helicopter maintenance is no joke. Anyone interested in survival would not attempt to fly some ramshackle helicopter maintained during an apocalypse. And the refined fuel for it? You cant make that stuff without modern technology. Almost as ridiculous as Kuru/Prion disease mechanic. And growing full pumpkins in 10 minutes. I'm not getting excited whatsoever for helicopters in the DayZ Expansion mod. I will be shocked if it ever comes to fruition. Even if it does, if it isn't officially supported (never gonna happen) then it's a ton of work for very little return. For 2020, let's hope they focus on obtainable goals for players that don't need thousands of hours of experience to reach the endgame. Tanning, Bows, Crossbows, and other basic survival gear that make sense might be way more profitable. More realistic time-sinks, please. I really hope they do great things with DayZ but the evidence that shows us the rate of progression on the title indicates that there's only a handful of people working on the title now. Let's be realistic and not overly ambitious.(?)

So, you've decided to go with the "it's boring" argument, huh? Your reasoning breaks my immersion of real life.
-
Here's the problem. You think the safest place to put your loot is in bases. No. Walk 150 meters in any direction, build a crate, stash your best loot under a tree.
-
Can we please dial back the hyperbole a bit, hmm? This is hardly every time. My post history does not indicate that I attack every idea. Don't make stuff up. Will I be more critical of implementing new suggestions now that we're out of beta and into 1.0? Yes. Was I open and encouraged more brainstorming during alpha? Yes. Should BI be trying to focus on finishing up DayZ? Probably.

Okay, this thread isn't some elaborate, Asmondian-esque type of suggestion. It's two whole sentences. And by some new forum user with some 12 sentences total on these forums. I didn't go into detail on purpose, but apparently I should. Personally, I've hid lots of cars in the forests. Yes, you need to find a flat patch of land. It's not hard to do. I'm still stashing cars in the wilds of southern Livonia. If you know that clipping will totally flip out your car then you take notice of where to park. Yes, I've lost cars to trees with claustrophobia. You build fences around cars (just the posts and a netting) to protect and hide your car. The game is not that restrictive. If you're investing into building a car then finding a place to hide it and conceal it with posts is trivial. It is not at all difficult to 'navigate the positioning system of fences' in the open woods. Watchtowers, yes. Fences not so much. Usually, you're just building two fences, so you only need so many materials. Camo netting on fences also sync up to the way the trees blow in the wind without having a silhouette of a car attached to it. And you don't need to have the fences right next to the car. It only needs to break line of sight. I've hid many cars on populated, official public servers this way to great success. It's not hard and it works great. Do you hide cars on public servers too? Your concerns of placement and hiding have been a minimal issue for me. Honestly, if you want to go pro having cars then you hide tires in buried drybags. Car parts in buried crates/sea chests. You store the parts in storage containers for later use because they are easier to hide and less unstable. Maybe you pull the battery and plug when you log, yea?! This. Work related, you just drive thru the fence and park. You don't even have to re-attach an item after you're done driving. On the real life side, it requires work for the programmers, for something that seems redundant to me, for something that already works fine. A rare case, perhaps. I'll drop that argument of it taking away development time because, really, it isn't a great point to make, besides the fact that I don't even need it. Yea. Pretty sure I said this exact thing in your basebuilding suggestion thread.
-
Cute insult. In my opinion, your suggestion is extraneous. We don't need camo for cars. The wooden fence posts with camo on them work just fine. It's not like we have to hide from helicopters, anyway. Honestly, at the current development pace, I'd rather see bugfixing and adding unique features. Not different ways to hang up camo netting. Lets work on crafting, bows, stability, or something else first, okay?

There’s a button you can click on the official server browser, for each server, that opens up a window, to see the mods needed. It’s there but maybe not all that intuitive.
-
Soft skills are total waste. Even if it was bug free. If you tape/fix hundreds of items and then chop hundreds of trees the slider will be in the exact same place as when you were a new spawn. The logic behind the slider is asinine. If you saw enough planks at a lumber pile it will move to the right. At 3/4 of the way to the right you will notice that each 'saw' will yield additional planks. For a while, during 1.05, it was giving an extra wooden log when a tree got chopped down. This is potentially huge. I like that the developers recognize that soft skills shouldn't affect combat, but the implementation, design, and follow through are atrocious.

Is it? Code doesn’t write itself. Is it easy? Have you written code and done big fixing on this title? I haven’t, but I imagine doing something requires time and resources whereas the option we have now requires nothing.
