I don't understand how the game gets more rewarding when you cherish your loot. This is an MMO. The real reward is socializing with your friends and experiencing events that are memorable. Living and dying during gunfights. Taking road trips with your buddies. Wandering through the forest, looking for animals to hunt, or finding bases. That's rewarding. Loot is not rewarding. Material possession is not the end-game. Loot isn't even that important. Knowledge beats loot every time. Not only is it more important, but you wont lose it when you die. And you will die. A lot. Tactics > Shinies. I have died so many times over thousands and thousands of hours and I can tell you truthfully that not getting upset over it is much better than getting upset over it. There's no reason to hate yourself. The reason why new players get upset when they die is because they experience a loss. They value their material possessions way too much. You must let go. Value the journey of discovery and the lessons you learn while on your adventure. Revel in it. Stop valuing the things you lose and I will guarantee that you will be happier. Die many times. Become callous to death and you will start to remain calm in the throes of combat. Yesterday, my buddies and I lost three cars. Due to some sort of new bug. None of us got upset. We learned to change behavior, and then logged off at the end of the night, happy. Related, I will give some specific advice to the OP here. When you log in, take a moment to just look around and become aware of your surroundings. Don't ever sprint. Just jog along. While you do this, continue to look around for structures, animals and players. If it starts raining, find shelter and wait it out. Just observe. And listen. This is how you avoid getting shot at. This is how you spot wolves and escape before they pounce on you. I have hunted many bears in this game. Just by simple jogging. I always spot them first. Notice how their AI performs. Sneak around town. Plan a route that will avoid zombies. Pull them carefully. You will never die to infected if you remain calm in melee combat. Block their first attack, then cave their skulls with your axe. You will never need to shoot them unless you're also engaged in combat with another player. Slow down. Don't be in such a mad rush to make mistakes.

This doesn't seem like a problem with game mechanics. Rather, a problem with discipline. I like you. You're hilarious.

Stop putting so much value into loot and not dying. This is a serious suggestion. Slow down in every way possible. Good luck.

People who buy programs to help them cheat, yes, that happens. Hackers are people with actual computer skills. I'm guessing real hackers aren't interested in killing people in DayZ. Making money by selling functions that exploit the game, sure. So let's not give these cheaters undue credit by calling them hackers. Remember when grenades could knock trees over? And we'd see waves of carpet bombing between Cherno and Electro? That was some messed up shit, back in the day. Remember when the game had sanity checks? Oh wait.

Please do not make nights darker on regular servers. This is how you chase consumers away. Removing personal lights on hardcore servers is a fine idea.

Your title description is terrible. Clearly, you've never hunted worms before. There's no amount of calculable worm density within the earth. 'Seems weird' that one would assume that a pickaxe could generate multiple worms. Stacking medication is pretty insignificant. Maybe you carry around too much stuff. The really bottleneck is weight, not space. Pills don't weigh that much. Tell your friends to stop drinking out of every pond they see. I don't ever recall seeing wristwatches in DayZ standalone. Honestly, you don't need them. Most survivors, who know what they're doing, use the sun and the position of the night sky to judge the time. Wristwatches are 100% not necessary. PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD (kek) don't add wristwatches. (Why do you even need to know the time?)

Well, fired up DayZ again. My ping hit 300+ and I got booted from the server. Multiple times. This was an official Livonia NY server. Which is plenty close enough to my home state. I play a variety of other games and never go over 80ms, even with lots of background websites open. I'm not sure why I'm having so many problems. Is it the new 1.08? I'm really not interested in sinking a bunch of time into playing only to get booted and then log back in as a fresh spawn because some random zed kills me. Which is bound to happen. Anyone else have this problem?

Who is this video directed at? The huge influx of new players? lol

Need a Chernarus map in Russian
Parazight replied to steam-76561198440132690's topic in New Player Discussion
I'm going with the OP on this one. Besides, he's not even asking for the core game to be changed. He's asking about how it can also be in Russian. Not to change it to Russian. As a gamer, I prefer it to be in Russian. Seems authentic. As someone who lives in the United States, I can tell you that I don't have every square corner of it memorized. I enjoy being a tourist in my own country. I live in the midwest, I require a tourist map when I visit the west/east coast. Not being able to find a map in English is preposterous. So yea, tourist maps in the language of the country is a thing. Maybe it's hard to relate to, if you're not from a large country. /shrug To address the original question; did you check the steam workshop? Maybe they have a solution. I don't use maps in DayZ anymore, so I guess I wouldn't know. -
The OFFICIAL list of PROMISED FEATURES as of 2018...a reminder

Discourage the devs? That's laughable. Welcome to the 21st century and the internet. This type of thing goes on everywhere. In every business that operates in a free market society. What would I feel like?? WHO CARES!! The world isn't powered by feelings! Professionals don't go ape-shit. BI hasn't gone ape-shit, because they understand this. You deal with problems that matter the best you can and move on. Forums are a place for discussion. There's no reason to put so much stock into the value of what is said there. I've always supported the developers here, but there's no reason insult them by assuming they get upset when plebs type stuff on the interwebs. If someone is tailgating you when you're driving down the road, do you get upset? or do you ignore it like a rational person should? Honestly, the only worthwhile discussion is when a board of directors asks the right questions and holds management accountable for failing profits/expectations. -
Official servers all players use Hack!!!!
Parazight replied to jaddethin's topic in General Discussion
Telling people to go play on community servers is like the government providing automobiles but then telling you to go build your own roads. You paid money as a consumer and now you have to rely on a third party to make it work? That's gross and unprofessional. That said, BI hasn't been ignoring the problem. They want things to work out for the benefit of their company and the people that buy their product. Also, this issue is not limited to DayZ right now. It's not black or white, but it definitely sucks. What ever happened to mother-server technology, sanity checks, and/or creating your own anti-cheat software? -
If a stranger interacts with your dead player corpse, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume you'd lose all your stuff anyway? No one is abusing the system. It was designed that way. Getting Kuru from abnormally folded prions can happen. But it is unrealistic that a person would go insane like they do in-game. This mechanic, in real life, was isolated to the generations of indigenous people of New Guinea, and had a minimum incubation period of at least a decade. Getting the laughs from killing and eating other players is 100% bullshit, unrealistic and unauthentic.

"unfair" lolz Usually people are banned because they break the TOS. Go bother Steam people. No one on these forums can help you.

Hackers on official servers are rampant (proof included)
Parazight replied to Anticonn's topic in General Discussion
Talk of moving towards a mmo architecture? I don't recall seeing this. This would be huge. But, how? How would you have separate phases while handling ballistics? Having a strong mother server was a strong selling point of very early early-access. Bohemia is aware of the issues and their success depends on stopping hacks. Developers have always prioritized hackers. More difficult when they don't have their own anti-cheat software or subscription based servers to fund maintenance. So, props to them. -
Gekofish videos always cure my autism. But it always comes back twice as hard.

Server wipes would be like admitting that the game wasn't ready for its 1.0 release.
-
Welcome to the internet! Software developers don't respond to this nonsense. Why open the floodgates to incessant whining and ridiculous demands??

I ran out of fingers counting how many times I've seen friends say "My computer wont run this version, guess I have to wait for experimental, maybe I should find a different game." This is from people with beast machines.
-
Why are we trying to replace the ghillie suit?
-
Have you been able to launch this version (1.07) before? This is probably an issue with DayZ itself. I've seen this before with my machine. I've seen this before with friends' PC. It wont launch at all. Just goes black. Many re-installs. DayZ doesn't even get to the main screen. Experimental version (a different build) works just fine. If your computer isn't an old toaster and hasn't had any issues before, and now you suddenly have problems with a current version, and you've done multiple re-installs, then it's probably DayZ, and not your PC. So, it's probably a really simple fix that you've probably already tried, or you might have to wait until a new version comes out.

Think of it this way. You can grow a pumpkin in about 20 minutes. If it takes 24 hours to die of starvation then that's 72 pumpkins you could grow. That's consecutively, my friend. If you could grow 70+ pumpkins in real life, without eating, then that would be really incredible. Seems pretty straight-forward to me.
-
Wait, the player base killed DayZ because they wanted fluff and you're saying the devs caved and gave it to them? This is why you think DayZ is 'dead'? lol

Rust and Ark are not that popular. Not compared to MMOs that have a subscription plan. Ark has maybe 1000 people playing on official servers and the game is littered with issues, especially since their recent Genesis update. Personally, I've spent plenty of time on community servers. They're great! But any game that relies on game servers needs to be able to have their own, and have them be successful. A new player to any game should not have to go out of their way to find a place to play. Pay a handful of money and then have to rely on community servers? Gross.
