The real problem here is that you want a high skill pvp arena AND a regulated discord at the same time. A required discord presence removes a lot of the fear of the unknown in DayZ, which is a huge part of it. Being hamstringed with crafting restrictions and a lack of knowledge on how the central economy works doesn't help either. Constant server wipes isn't really helping your loot issues (insignificant anyway) and was designed that way. Do some research. Check out Trump's Wall servers or other high ranking pvp servers. Even if it isn't your thing, it's still a great model for private hive servers as it is widely popular.

No. I only play on one official server. I'm not hopping around, so there's no reason to search. My stashes and stuff are 95%+ on one server for Official - Public. When I use the server list I already have a server in mind. It's not ideal always, but I've been able to find an official server with decent population. It waxes and wanes but the population isn't stupid low.

That idea will not generate much interest.

ok, bohemia, here's how you revive your dead game
Parazight replied to mart1n1's topic in General Discussion
You stay on one official server and go to the north and west. Find stashes all over. If all that you're getting is a SMG then may I suggest that you try some old fashioned camping. Sit in room or something where you can unload your smg at short distance and upgrade off of someone's corpse. Server hoppers sometimes hang out in novo, cherno, or other. Try there. Show those kids with the M4s who's boss. Also, many times stashes aren't even buried. They're just crates sitting in a pond. Difficult to detect. -
What? Building wooden crates to store items in them is a completely legitimate mechanic. It is designed by the developers and in no way am I abusing or exploiting the game. This has been a feature of sandbox MMOs for decades. I'm not entirely convinced that you know how the 'loot economy' works.

Based on what? You have insider knowledge to BI marketing? DayZ has never tried to be the best PVP game. If it had been all about the pvp then you wouldn't be forced to invest a ton of time gearing up in order to compete. The game would just give you the loot straight off, like PUBG, or COD. The caveat with dayz is that you have something to lose. And that is meaningful. It's not about how well you perform as a trigger man. You quit playing because of a bugged gun issue. Which has been around for 5 years. So, why are you still posting here if you don't even play??

Logged back into Dolnik with Jimmy. Found a radiator, the last piece we needed to have a working Olga. Filled it up with pond water and off we went. We headed west, and north. Along the way, Jimmy jumped out when we heard a loud bear growl. So it was on. 3 buckshot, the last to the head in the following pic, took it down.

If you're focused on pvp as a solo player then you're doing it wrong.

Thanks for the ted talk comparing Microsoft products within your narrow experience.

Not a bad map. Once you get over the 'hump' of being a new spawn, it isn't that bad. Not that survival is all that hard once you know the mechanics, it's a pretty brutal map for any potential new players. The foliage, new trees, and new plants are all welcome additions. The terrain doesn't look freshly trimmed like chernarus. There's a lot of overgrowth and places to hide in this wilderness. Making a base in the wild will be an epic challenge on higher populated servers. Blood/damage is better. Zeds definitely hit harder and avoiding them, if possible, is probably ideal. Blood loss isn't as bad and seems balanced. Found a fishing pole but didn't get to try it. Made it down to Dolnik with a buddy. Shot animals and cooked them at night on the way. Felt pretty good. We had found a working Olga in Dolnik. A shame we only needed a radiator to get it functional. Car parts on wrecked cars is most welcome. My dreams of being mauled to death by a bear still go unfullfilled. I'm going to use this bonus time to make sure that happens! Packets of Pepper seeds can't be opened. Also, some houses have storage containers now!

Haha. There's lots of science to be had. Infected vs bears. Wolves vs bears. Bears vs bears(?). Beartraps, Landmines, aggro switches. How far can I kite one? How do they interact with vehicles? Should be fun.

Fantastic news! I cannot wait to be mauled by a bear. Repeatedly. I desperately want to create a gladiator arena for survivors vs bears. Plz make this happen.

Does Blue Screen on PS4 need a fix ASAP?
Parazight replied to FirefighterSFVFD_1's topic in New Player Discussion
I voted no for two reasons. First, I play on PC and never get blue screens so I don't care if it's fixed ASAP. Second, this is a ridiculous poll because it's a loaded question. Also, "asap" is pretty ambiguous. -
When I ctrl - find for ADD BEARS!!!! search comes up negative. why. I need to see bears chase people to be at peace with the world. This is an important QOL necessity. Why are we supersizing text now? haha

I always KOS people with drybags first. See, drybags are a great way to store tires. And I like to collect tires. And drybags.

The shotgun fills the role of the OP’s suggestion. Shotgun is the most authentic solution. Focus less on new guns and focus more on ‘Old Susan. Maybe buff the ammo.

One thing, it seems, is that if you add chlorine to your water but don't leave the pond, you'll get sick sometimes anyway. So, from now on I fill the bottle and then go back on dry land, purify, and then chug. Basically, don't leave home without tetracycline. Aside, I'd love to see antibiotics become a rare item. That might force people into having to boil water, or eat prepared mushrooms, or something else magical. Needs to come down to more than "do I have tetra tabs or not?'

yea man. Dean just left the team early last week, I think.

No repercussions for morally questionable behavior, eh? There is no permadeath anymore. I haven't played DayZ on Xbox, but I assume it wouldn't be more friendly than some dedicated PC community servers. Good luck. Get callous.

The idea of finite fuel isn't terrible, I'll give you that. In fact, I would encourage it for private and modded servers. However, the likelihood of BI designing the mechanic and then not use it is quite unlikely. Oh? Where do you get this information? Do you have metrics to share? Most people prefer private shards because of server hopping? This is hard to believe given the new meta that discourages server hopping.
-
Okay, you don't need to implement mechanics to encourage PVP. There's no lack of motivation to kill each other. Do you ever play on public servers? Please, no. Not in the vanilla game. No traders please. Limited fuel is not a good idea for a hive system. If I wanted to encourage server hopping, I would support this idea. Immersion breaking? Really? Right now we need to have stable, persistent cars. DayZ isn't being about realistic. Having unlimited fuel doesn't diminish the authentic vibe of a zombie MMO. Just like how it doesn't take months to grow vegetables in-game.

I'm willing to bet that it is a very, very small percentage of new players that will come here in search of fair reviews and then make a decision to purchase, or not.
-
Honestly, I only play solo about 15% of the time, but... I would continue playing by building stashes near known new-player spawn points. Hiding loot for when you die is a great time-sink. Building cars, or stashes of car parts can be fun. Race around Chernarus! Build bases! They'll probably get raided, but that can't stop you from making them anyway. Search out other people. Use discord. Have a mic. MMO!
