Food scarcity is good; Caloric value and time to starve is not
Parazight replied to Badwolvie's topic in Suggestions
Dealing with starvation is not something you have to constantly manage continuously. There are many ways to avoid getting sick and having to deal with constant health maintenance. If this upkeep is what's keeping you from playing then you might be doing something wrong. It shouldn't be a constant challenge. It seems that you haven't mastered the current mechanics. This indicates that you had more than just a cold. You made a serious mistake, like eating with bloody hands. This is why your hydration and hunger are so difficult right now. Wash your hands as soon as possible. Don't drink out of containers that you just find lying around without dumping them out and refilling at a well. Go indoors when it's raining. Don't sprint. Seriously, I've respawned several times around Chernarus and Livonia and the pve struggle is not bad. Good luck. -

This is the reason you had so many issues. Maybe you had salmonella and cholera. Once you become experienced in finding food, managing hunger/thirst, and avoid getting sick it's reasonable. THANKS!! I guarantee that you'll win the nobel prize for logic. -
Okay, that video you linked is not a retail server. Did you even watch it? That's a classic server. They're standing outside of the Zul'Gurub raid instance on a classic server. Like I said before, that's the nature of classic. You have bots and griefers exploiting 15 year old code. Additionally, top tier play is absolutely not pvp outside of a raid instance. This isn't raiding, battle grounds, arenas, instanced PVE, or even anything of relevance. I'd ask you to link a video of hackers from modern WoW content but you wont find any because it's subscription based and actively policed by paid staff. Blizzard/Activision is incredibly successful and built on subscriptions. It's also entertaining that you point out that squeaky-wheel streamers are the ones complaining about DayZ, and that's why it's bad, then go on to use the same type of people to try and make a point. Orly? Care to provide any evidence? So, generating income from a subscription and using that money to fight cheaters won't do anything? I'd bet lots of players that quit because of the hacking situation would come back to play. At least as many that have vowed to quit if there is a subscription. More conjecture.

Blizzard does not have an issue with hacking and cheaters. Comparing the cheater issue with WoW is the worst possible argument a person could make. I also play WoW on several different PVE and PVP servers. Retail and a Classic server. They absolutely do not have those issues with modern wow. There are some on classic servers, but that comes with the 15 year old code. Even in your bogus, hypothetical assumption, the percentage would be incredibly small in comparison. Blizzard also has active employees monitoring their servers. This is why the biggest issue is class imbalance and obtaining top tier loot in raids versus M+. Cheater discussion isn't even on the radar. Go look for yourself on their forums and mmo-champion. A subscription system will mitigate the hacker issue without question. Or, give some high profile DayZ players some insignificant perks to help monitor their servers. Hell, implement ANY type of moderation and the cheater problem will not rise, you think? There HAS to be a solution where more people are involved with fighting cheaters without adding to the Bohemia payroll. Free client. duh. Planetside 2? WTF is that? They haven't had over 4000 people playing that game since 2015. Pointless. Hackers/Cheaters rise as popularity does. 1.09 is most certainly not "the end of DayZ" as the OP suggests. It's also not 'because streamers actively piss on it', either.

That’s garbage. Their game, their responsibility, their profits. What ever happened to mother server tech and sanity checks? This was a selling point from day zero. You can ONLY blame cheaters and Bohemia. There’s no one else to blame. Maybe they implemented the wrong system. *coughsubscriptioncough*

You have official public hive, community public hive and then you have private servers. The hives retain the same character while private community servers use a different one. You cannot move your official character to a private server, for example.

In this stable version, reloading is cumbersome. When I'm holding my SKS and I hit the hotbar number for the ammo rounds, it reloads one round. But when I put my weapon away and then hit the hotbar for the weapon and the ammo at the same time, I get an option to reload just one or all 10. I'd prefer to load all ten rounds without having to put the weapon away and do all of this extra button pushing. I'd prefer to hold the SKS and just hold down the ammo hotbar key until it's full again. IMO, there doesn't need to be an option to load just one, or load all 10. If you just want one, then only hold it down for a short time. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but it's not working how it used to, which I'd prefer.

You've been trying to help him and he's returned the favor with third rate trolling. Man, I thought *I* was an asshole.

Translated: “Go find a server where you have lag and then experience the lag.” This forum assumes official servers. If you’re above 300ms then you get kicked from official servers. The start screen also warns you that mods may affect performance. Please do not quote me, unless it’s something I actually said. Like in the stable 1.09 thread where you say the exact same thing.

Yes. I want to be able to pick up, store, throw, and choke chickens.

Ok, maybe you didn't get lucky. And it's not really meant to be realistic. Food takes A LOT longer to grow in real life. There is meant to be video game balance. Related, you can stick to one official server and begin to remember where the player made gardens are at. These gardens stick around a lot longer than they have in the past. Maybe at some point, servers will be overrun with food because survivors will plant more gardens and animals will be plentiful. This isn't even close to what happens in game. Then you must be doing it wrong. If you hang out in Solnichniy you can search for ambient spawned fruits/rocks. Fill up a bit, make your way north. Find some gardens or kill some animals. I've done this several times successfully, on multiple servers. Perhaps you haven't figured out the best way to survive yet. -
That is some seriously deep, desert-of-the-real, messed-up epiphany-level advice, Morpheus.

So, you want me to choose to play on a 300 ping server in order to observe the effect in your 36-views-twitter-video? Oh. I see that you're playing on a modded server as well. Is BI responsible for the lag on modded servers, too? You can't shoot right away. The video doesn't look like there is a problem anyway. So, you can't go from carrying the gun, aiming down sights and focusing on your target in .0627 seconds. Seems legit to me. Maybe you haven't actually fired ARs or hunting rifles in real life, but that's not realistic or authentic. For a military simulator, it doesn't seem bad at all. IRL, you don't press the right mouse button to operate a weapon. You can't just spam the left mouse button to fire. Maybe you're playing the wrong game if you want a twitch shooter game experience.

No way. If you get shot, lose 3/4ths of your blood and finally stitch yourself back up (after dealing with zombies as well) it definitely takes longer than 10 minutes to get your blood back. 5-10 minutes is way, way off. This blood plague idea may have merit, but it seems like a mod idea. Not something that needs to be added to vanilla, IMO.

I agree, it IS great. Nowadays, when you kill a geared player, you know that they've spent loads of valuable time acquiring that gear. Like before there was persistent storage. It's like a wet dream for sadists. Like it was back in .3x. Oh it's good to be back!

I didn't see where they mentioned that this was intentional. Can you provide a link, please? To me, this makes it seems like they are trying to make it less restrictive, not more restrictive. Overall.

Remove BattleEye and Steam requirements for pure LAN servers

Yea. For a company that truly caters as a military simulator, you’d think that this would be automatic. good luck. -
New loot respawn timers are next level stupid
Parazight replied to Futurist's topic in General Discussion
The SKS still kills people just fine. Surviving still isn't that hard. Your loot just isn't as shiny as it once was. Can we dial back the 'next level stupid' amount of hyperbole, please?? -
I was left cringing during a weak moment when plebs weren't using the Queen's english. So I shot them with my now more responsive revolver. Thanks devs.

Re-enable ability to wear balaclava's/ski-masks with motorcycle helmets.
Parazight replied to Badwolvie's topic in Suggestions
I’m not sure it was because of clipping but it might be neat if a motorcycle helmet could have a balaclava as an attachment. -

There’s an hour queue on every community server? Knives as rare as LARs? You're speechless? -
Maybe there are other factors that affect audio besides the sound of footsteps. So, it’s not ALL about the shoes one wears. The game can’t balance around just that. There are also a lot of variables. English doesn’t use ‘crunching’ or ‘crinching’ In this manner. ‘Crinching’ isn’t even a word. good luck.

So, which is it? First you say that the difference is too subtle. Then you say that you identified someone by the sound of their boots. Further, you determined that someone was there only by sound. A person wears footwear that is more durable but is slightly louder. Seems like a fair trade off. At any rate, having to repair footwear is a fine mechanic to have to deal with for a video game. It seems to be balanced well. Some say that it is too short. I would say that it is authentic enough. Should we also balance gardening so that it takes months to grow a pumpkin? Do we really need realism here? No. If we were going for realism, we wouldn't have zombies either, huh.

Nope. You made mistakes somewhere.
