That's the problem. You're only giving opinions. Most of what you're saying is pretty subjective, actually. Besides, what you're arguing for (parity from alpha) has no grounds for return. The disclaimer in Alpha clearly stated that bad design decisions were a part of Early Access. All of the things that people want back into the game neatly fall under 'discarded design decisions'. When does 'Disgusting 3' come out?

Maybe you did something bad before today. Or even before this week! Computers have good memories. These sorts of requests have to be brought to BattleEye. There is nothing here that the developers can do, or will do.

Oh? Says who? Who told you that (infected) are meant to be weak and in more numbers? Can you please provide a link? Ellipses are not a replacement for actual punctuation.

Experimental Update 1.13 (Changelog)

I've seen no such effect. I stay healthy from day zero. I dump out all of my containers when I find them and refill at the well. Never gotten sick. Only noobs get sick. -
Experimental Update 1.13 (Changelog)
Parazight replied to lynn.zaw's topic in PC Experimental Updates
I think that 20% is about right. That said, I believe that there are better options to adjust melee combat. So if the backstab isn't an option because you've aggroed your target, then your best option is to block in a 1v1 situation with a zed. All attacks can be blocked now. This is critical. If you're blocking then the attack range of infected isn't nearly as important. I'd suggest to change what's going on with the player controller, instead of the AI. Perhaps the balancing lies in the stamina resource of the player. Blocking should not use up stamina, rather, it should cost nothing, maybe even generate stamina! I've always felt that a survivor would experience adrenaline. It didn't seem like something that should be its own mechanic, but should be considered. In a life or death situation a person is going to experience adrenaline. The player character isn't authentically going to expend the same amount of stamina running as they would in a fight, because of adrenaline. I'd balance infected by adjusting stamina while blocking. Heck, have blocking generate stamina. Melee combat before the change wasn't that bad, honestly. You could block the first two attacks from any single zombie and then stun-lock/kill them with 2-4 hits with a sledgehammer. You dump them out before you use them. Or find some chlorine tablets. You have options. Is finding clean water difficult? -
Lightly modded server that nerfs hunger mechanic?
Parazight replied to boggle's topic in General Discussion
Maybe DayZ is not for you. It doesn't sound like you're interested in 'the grind' at all. This is not a game of easy pvp action all the time. And honestly, you've been asking for solutions to easy problems. I'm not sure how many servers are out there that are modded just to make the hunger mechanic easier. It's really not hard to deal with if you have patience. -
Lightly modded server that nerfs hunger mechanic?

What is the point of this thread? Are you trying to ask a question in this sub-forum? -
Console players only buy one copy of DayZ and have no restrictions on the amount of accounts they can create. Buying a second copy of DayZ will not get you into trouble.
-
Sometimes people just want to PVE versus infected, drive around and hang around with friends. Community public hive does this well, and for free. I've had friends/veterans say to me "I've been in a real war, I'm not interested in your 'pvp'." Either way people have legitimate, unapparent reasons for playing differently. There doesn't have to be a point.

It would be wonderful if BI would team up with their new partners, Tencent, and figure out the hacker/cheater problem that DayZ has. Maybe Tencent, whose net worth is 48+ BILLION DOLLARS in U.S. currency, and is the largest internet company in China could help figure out a way to stem cheaters so we can move cars back to client-side. https://www.bohemia.net/blog/bohemia-interactive-minority-investment-tencet Oh. That's right. BI says they "will continue to operate independently". Guess they don't understand how China operates. Just yesterday, the USA, and all of NATO, formally condemned China for basically funding and endorsing global cyber-attacks. Everyone knows China is a problem. Please ask Tencent to tell their government to help fight cheaters so that DayZ design concepts only involve systems and optimizations, not engines built around anti-cheat. Cuz I really wanna drive my Olga from Severograd to Zelenogorsk without having to replace the radiator and spark plug every time.

All that happened is that he was driving through a field and then he stopped. He put the vehicle in neutral and hit the brakes. That's all the server knew. The car never left the ground, it was all client side effects. Sure, it's buggy as hell, and opens you up to get shot at, easily, but it's pretty common. I don't think you have to get lucky in this case. I think that it's great that you're hammering for cars to be fixed, but if your statements don't appear accurate then it doesn't help your case. For example, it doesn't take a ton of effort, much less hours to build a car. Cars are buggy and need work, sure, but they're not a death sentence in most cases. Also, I'm not sure what you mean when you say that PC players will 'eat them alive'.

More realism you say? I can’t say I’ve ever kept firing an assault rifle after having one arm blown off. Realistically, I assume it would be difficult. Gore isn’t necessary. Pointless, in my opinion.
-
Console players don’t suffer THAT much. Mostly because permadeath is irrelevant. Console players can just make unlimited accounts, so dying doesn’t affect anything, not like on PC anyway.
-
I don't think infected are too bad. I'm really enjoying the fact that a player can block all of the attacks now. Stamina is a much more important variable now. You can use your stamina to carry things or save it to block attacks. People forget (maybe) that all attacks can be blocked now. If anything, wound infection might need adjustment. Maybe it should affect stamina or vision only. Death after 40 minutes from an infected laceration doesn't seem authentic to me.

Why I don't play on official....
Parazight replied to THEGordonFreeman's topic in General Discussion
Move player characters to the server side and have mother server architecture to provide sanity checks? Set up servers with BI staff, funded by a subscription fee? Fire BattleEye? Obviously the current system has issues. Sure, it's not just DayZ, but cheaters always appear as a symptom of a problem, not really the cause. Then again, griefing has been around as long as people have. -
I'm not sure how much the console type affects stability. Vehicles are controlled by the server you connect to. Sometimes, the internet doesn't behave and the commands you input aren't received in time. When client-server communication resumes, you see the aftermath of when you had no control; the car is sideways, the front tires, radiator, and sparkplug are all ruined. The car probably hit that hay bale at 40+ km/h but what you saw isn't what really happened on the server.

would you stop nerfing the Vss/AS-Val
Parazight replied to desolate-master's topic in General Discussion
The team has stated that balancing favored encounters that don't end in one-shot kills. The game can't have realistic statistics and this preferred meta. I think when we evaluate the power level of a weapon we have to consider more than just ballistics. There are many examples. Deagles are bad because 357 ammo isn't plentiful. The SVAL just got a huge buff because ATOGx6 is being introduced. NATO rifles got a huge buff with M16 + new acog. The AKs are still better, in my opinion, because of the 1PN51. Especially on PC, where we don't get infinite extra toons/accounts NOT getting one-shot is needed. The VSS/SVAL is also really great at dumping all those 9x39 rounds in to base walls. SVAL/VSS are great weapons for clearing military areas and traveling, they're well-rounded on vanilla servers. They do their job just fine. If you're gearing up to fight players, where the real stats matter, shouldn't you be using M16 or LAR now? Burst Mode > Armor Piercing. no? -
Yes, it should be possible to add this via a mod. Starvation is not a common complaint here. Maybe you're unlucky. If you're at the point where you have to eat worms to survive then maybe you're doing something wrong, or need more experience. I find that many people who die of starvation are trying to loot too fast.

Well said. I cringe when I see videos of cars going into space, which happens when you hit 70+ km/h on paved back roads. Dying is mostly preventable. I've destroyed so many cars (engine, radiator, spark plug, and front fender) because of the standard issues, but I haven't actually taken off into space for some time. I can't even remember the last time I actually died from it. I would say at least 95%+ of my car accidents are beyond my control, and that's driving carefully. When things start to go haywire, I stand on the brakes and put it in neutral.

I CANT SURVIVE WITHOUT MY CAT!!!!!

It probably wouldn't hurt as bad if the game carried over your stats, or had some sort of achievement system, or something trivial to show that you did the thing. It really sucks to lose everything knowing there's nothing you can do about it. However, it's not too bad as long as you have a group to rebuild with. Succeeding in DayZ really is about knowledge and social interactions. Loot is trivial, it's easy to get if you have friends and/or experience. Quitting because of wipes is a drastic measure, imo.
-
Thank you for the heads up on the decision to wipe. I have a question regarding the Community Public hive. What happens with the player character on that hive? The wipes of the servers are up to the provider, right? What about the character itself? Thanks.

I'm not buying this. Many of your posts on these forums involve you saying "a vast majority" and speaking for the entire community. The same goes here. You're making claims again on things that are impossible to provide evidence for. The group of people that I play with have built many large bases, over several updates, across a variety of various server types. Bases have never been just about stashing loot. This is because people that actually build bases know that they are likely to be raided. It's obvious to people that build bases that they are not single purpose. Experience with base building inevitably teaches groups to put valuable loot in small, hard to find places, NOT in a base. We build a medium sized base to hang out in. Maybe put some disposable cars in there. A place to grow crops. A place that serves as a decoy so that enemies spend their resources breaking into something that has no valuable items. People don't always stash their most valuable loot in bases. That's nonsense bases are not there first and foremost to store loot. Uh, what? What do you mean by lock up all the top tier loot? Are you saying that top tier weapons don't spawn because people have them stashed around the server?
-
Wow. What a post. You’d think that buying weapons from the server admins would be against terms of service. Doesn’t sound that great of a server, to be honest.

This is your story. The goal is to survive at all costs for 3 months until the server wipe.
