Disney/Marvel had an episode on their streaming service this week that was based on zombies. It all started when one person got a virus. https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/What_If..._Zombies!%3F And to think that I always thought that zombies were undead. Should we be meme-ing Disney right now because they are zombie-lore noobs? Are they right? Who'd be the expert on this subject?

What exactly are you doing when you trap someone's base? Are you talking about trapping the base, but not breaching it? Is that effective? Or, do you mean to set a trap inside, once you've looted the base? Nothing like looting a land mine and then activating it before you leave! I can't wait to loot a bunch of grenades and then set traps in the bases. Mental note: bring metal wire to offline base raids. 7 days is plenty of time. If you're setting a trap but can't afford to lose the grenade then don't set the trap. For base defense, I hope the prove to be awesome.

Does it give you an error code? Are you joining a modded server? Any additional information would help.

Right. Bases were never safe to begin with. We completely lost the ability to build even weak bases in towns, and gained nothing. Town bases are not safe because you can cheat the system and x-ray scan entire towns as you log in. Forest bases are worthless because you can just jump the fence with a vehicle + canopy tent. Unless you have combo locks on every wall, on every ring of protection, or, somehow find a hidden spot where an enemy can't use tricks to jump into your base (doesn't exist) then your base is easily breachable. So yea, relying on having an NBC suit stored in your base IS an issue because bases are not safe. Filters are going to be stolen. Random gas clouds in cities completely destroy legitimate attempts at town base building in vanilla! You can create a base in a house that can't be breached by breaking a combo lock. One can easily set up walls in a house so that you would have to stand in barbwire in order to break the combo lock. This completely circumvents being breached by methods other than explosives or shooting it. Or, you can set up the wall so that the lock is not reachable from outside of the building. The caveat, is that you have to stay logged out inside the base in order to retain it. Dynamic gas clouds kicking you out of your town base upon login renders the base worthless. A gas cloud is not going to save your base from offline protection. Raiders will just wait it out. Once an enemy knows about your base it's pretty safe to assume it's going to get wrecked. It's like there was no high-concept (or beta) phase of this game. Just random ideas and mechanics added to the pile.

This is a great post. Why go into them at all? Instead of finding and carrying a clown suit all over the place, I'll just camp outside static zones and snipe people. It's not like the high end tier weapons are limited anymore. I don't want to carry around a full suit, I don't have anywhere to put it and bases are not secure whatsoever.

Yes, the best thing is to ignore the trolls. I only tried to reason because this site has no active moderation. The only moderation on these forums comes from developers. Sad. Trolls, Ad-spam and loads of unanswered questions linger for weeks.

Oh, so they've managed to control the virus then. They've quarantined all the infected. Good. The zombie virus isn't really a problem then. What's the lore behind sniper rifles and infected dressed up in NBC gear being there at the time of the strikes? How does the lore explain how they got there precisely at the time of strikes? I'm sort of curious as to how the meta will play out. The team has affected balance by introducing the highest tier weapons in every corner of the map (toxic zones) while also removing the count on those weapons at the same time. No testing has been done to see how the metrics play out. There's no way experimental will be up long enough to really tell, I imagine. So, it will be interesting to see how much more 'arcadey' the game will get. Please don't call me sir. I work for a living. :)

I agree. Dynamic toxic zones would be great for hardcore vanilla servers.

This update needs some sort of flashbang effect upon log-in so that players can't just X-ray scan every structure within the nearest half-kilometer. Can we make radiators like, 3 times as durable, please? Will there be a server wipe with this update.

I think Hidden Stash should be an item that has to be placed. This item could be made from tarp, animal fur, rope, and/or sticks. You then bury the item with a tool. The item would be too small for assault rifles and would only last (15) days. At the end of that time the items pop onto the ground. The item cannot be refreshed and digging it up destroys it. In my opinion the current hidden stash mechanic has room for improvement. The goal here is to make hidden stashes widely accessible, yet not cost-effective. It provides a unique option in a desperate situation but not worth it as a long term storage option at all. Like, if your squad wants to stash extra gear before an assault. Or something you use in an emergency. Maybe after your car achieves lift-off, but doesn't quite make it. You'll need a place to store gear for a short while. But definitely make stashes unappealing to hoarders as much as possible.

The internationally accepted Chemical Weapons Convention of 1993 prohibits all development, production, acquisition, stockpiling, and/or transfer of such weapons. Besides, if there were people to launch gas bombs, then that means the virus can be contained, which destroys all the other lore. And if it can be contained, why not just shoot the rest of the infected?

Nothing has changed, fundamentally, in between the time that these posts were made. Why the complete reversal?? At one point, you were on the side of players who were looking for improvements. What happened? You made some decent contributions to the conversation, but now that you have come back to the forums after a hiatus, all you do is troll people with obvious nonsense. We need quality posters to help promote your favorite game.

I don't get these dynamic contamination zones. Who's shooting this stuff at us? I thought that there was a contagious virus that wiped out society. There's people left firing gas bombs at us? Did the infection only hit Chernarus? Seeing as how we're all going through a real life pandemic right now, it's hard to imagine that a contagious virus would limit itself to such a small area, especially considering incubation stages. How are these gas bombs authentic in any way at all? Who's launching these things? Gas canisters that rain down assault rifles and Infected that look like clowns. I hadn't realized that modern military technology was able to fit assault rifles and roleplaying infected into a launchable canister. Players log in and die right away because of the containment zone, losing days worth of progress to a mechanic they can't control. But wait! There is a way! If you log in, and you find yourself in the middle of an inevitable death sentence, you can just log out and go play a different game. There might be a chance that if you log in tomorrow that the gas wont be there and you might live. This is the most logical move to survive at all costs versus random mechanics! Dynamic containment zones just applied a huge nerf to an already weak base building system. The best attribute that a base can have for small groups is being inconspicuous. That also meant bases in towns. Now base cover in towns is not really possible. Base cover in towns is important because bases in the forest are worthless. A regular fence wall with metal and full barb wire can easily be jumped over with a truck or canopy tent + car. Honestly, the best move right now is to just create multiple accounts to store my loot on. Console already has that option right? Does anyone who thought this mechanic out (dynamic containment events) have any of their fingers on the pulse of the meta? Seems totally random, nonsensical, and barely relating to the current mechanics.

Hi! Thank you for the announcement!! When this update goes to stable, will there be server wipes?? Thanks.
-
There was no name-calling. I never attacked you, only your ridiculous posts. Please take your slander somewhere else.
-
What part of it is contentious? It's universally accepted, except by you, who wishes to make absurd troll posts.
-
Troll post 100% They didn't implement cars server-side, which is the root cause of the issues, because they wanted an apocalyptic feel. They did it to fight hackers, which is supposed to be BattleEye's job, right. It's obvious you haven't studied any actual facts. You're just making up facts. You don't have the special inside information on bikes and planes.
-
Changing ruined radiators at least once per road trip is required if you want the true apocalypse vibe.
-
This looks great so far! Looking forward to the mechanics and items. I'm curious to see if the new scope is usable during the daytime. Please increase the hitpoints of car bumpers and make them repairable with duct tape and epoxy. I'm going to automatically assume there will be server wipes because there's no confirmation that it won't happen.

Yea. That's hilarious. YaY Communism!!!

No way. The problem is far more widespread than a measly 15-18 people. This problem goes way, way beyond DayZ. Way beyond video games. Chinese hackers are in every corner of the world and it's well beyond the scope of Bohemia Interactive. Been going on for decades. The whole world knows this. Yes, it's endorsed by their government. Bohemia Interactive is not stopping the CCP.

Those servers were actually persistence ON. They eventually addressed the issue. The AKS-74u is a shortened assault rifle or a carbine, depending on who you ask, it seems. WIKI will call it a carbine, but they're no authority. The point was that the 74u is about the same tier as the M16A2. It's not endgame. They're not Tier 4 zone weapons. It's a great comparison, when you consider rarity.
-
Remember when they posted a pic of the M16A2 muzzle and there was a chicken coop in the background? People thought this could be a sign that bows were coming back. That's what this thread reminds me of.
