Nope. Gun racks are not necessary for survival. Consider getting DayZ on PC, with mods. There are many available.

This is a great question. I asked a similar question a few days ago, but the post was hidden because it had a link in it. I will repost what I had written earlier as I don't believe that it will be accepted, due to the lack of moderators. "ScottyB," the DayZ PR and Brand Manager doesn't have an account on the DayZ official forums. You'd think the public relations guy would at least have posted here once. I'd be tempted to ask him directly via Direct Message, but I don't know if that's possible. Further, I guess he shows up at the DayZ podcast occasionally. Strange that the PR manager uses a discord channel podcast to relay information to the public, but I guess that's acceptable. I tried to find a point of contact at the Bohemia Interactive website, with no luck. I think some answers to relevant questions are overdue. First, let's point out this article that discusses his podcast conversation. (link removed. PM me if you really want to see it) Quote So, the first update of the year is now on experimental and we have no roadmap outline. "We're looking at something that resembles a roadmap" is a non-answer. Typically, first quarters of businesses start at the beginning of February. That date has come and gone and we still have nothing. We know that this first update is mostly about establishing a bug fixing platform, and that's great and all, but can we get something more than the typical rhetoric? Where is the roadmap? Are we going to have server wipes with this update? Can you post the answer to this with the experimental release update post? Will the public relations guy interact with the community outside of random podcasts? Can we get this information posted to the 'Official' forums instead of relying on checking twitter all of the time?

Possible fix for game breaking swimming glitch
Parazight replied to Surfjayce's topic in Suggestions
I agree. Although I'm not sure if a player can be looted while in deeper water, minimizing damage to innocent people typically outweighs punishing the guilty. -
Steam is basically like if Skynet and the Matrix had a baby. In order for the system to operate cleanly, the Steam sends magical, time travelling agents to vaporize items that aren't near anyone, so that 'glitches' (deja-vu like events) are limited. This is the reason why the infected can never be observed to despawn and why cars fly. Sure, it looks like a complicated series of 1s and 0s, but it's actually these future robots roaming around undetected, lazer-beaming items to change from pristine to badly damaged, etc. Technically, you can acquire the server files but it's very dangerous. The big dildo that inserts into the back of your head is only located at the top of the Green Mountain radio tower. It's very, very difficult to climb that thing. But it IS possible. Remember, in Chernarus, there are no spoons. EDIT: 😀👨✈️🤩🤖🤧

You got banned because you deleted folders? Who banned you? Did you try reinstalling, verifying, or validating the files again? If it is a legitimate ban because of behavior, then there isn't anything that the staff or the company can do. You're going to have to contact BattleEye or Steam, depending on the details, which are lacking.

Possible fix for game breaking swimming glitch
Parazight replied to Surfjayce's topic in Suggestions
Weird. I thought that this was more of a recent problem and not something that people have been moaning about for many years. I had previously suggested that a character gets moved, like what happens during server hopping, or when you log into a contamination zone. What do you think of these suggestions as opposed to outright killing the character. Surely, collateral damage doesn't have to occur if there's another reasonable solution. What do you think? -
Possible fix for game breaking swimming glitch
Parazight replied to Surfjayce's topic in Suggestions
Points were added to the maps to move players out of toxic zones during log-in so that players don't die immediately. It's not a 'glitch'. It's an intended mechanic that was put in place alongside the zones themselves, in update 1.14. You can see where all of these spawn points are at a site like izurvive.com. It is this same sort of mechanic that I suggested as a fix to the swimming exploit. Offline raiding: Get your team together, get in your car, grab all of the sea chests (which don't have to be empty in order to place into a vehicle) and then drive away. Looking forward to the postcard. Good luck learning things the hard way. -
Well, there is another thread on this topic already. I'm sure the DayZ team is aware of the issue and are working on a solution. In fact, this latest build on experimental is focused on building a foundation for further bug fixing. Which they've mentioned. Can you post a screen shot of this base that could only be breached by swimming? Is there no way that a team could break it down by shooting it? Grenades? I have a hard time believing that a base, on a vanilla server, cannot be broken into by legitimate means.

Seems a bit extreme. Are you suggesting this as a way to damage someone or as a death visual??

Possible fix for game breaking swimming glitch
Parazight replied to Surfjayce's topic in Suggestions
So, you can create gates inside a building. Said gates are created where you can only access the lock if you are on the inside, because of positioning, or because barbed wire will interrupt the combination sequencing. Therefore, a player can only open the wall from the outside by destroying it. The problem occurs when you log into your base and a dynamic toxic zone is present, displacing you to a position outside of your own base. So now, you have to destroy your own walls to get back inside. Which is not practical. Note that I offered a suggestion to fix the swimming glitch. This same mechanic that moves you when you log into a toxic zone could be used to move you when you log into deep water. Either way, I believe the team will be able to come up with a solution. -
Possible fix for game breaking swimming glitch

How about just moving to a random spot as if you were switching servers? I don't see how a person could exploit that any more than fresh spawning and then server switching. Okay, so it's clear that you're really new to the game. Don't hide valuable items in your base because that's how they get found. It's like putting a big sign on it that says "look here first!!" Hiding stashes under Sea Chests is not clever. People take Sea Chests, etc. Don't put digging instruments in your base? Is this for real? Bases are for storing non valuable items, like common tools. You want people to bury items in the base and then not be able to dig them up? Are you sure? Form a militia of trusted friends and set up watch-shifts. lol. You play by yourself and have no idea regarding the logistics of such a feat. Completely unrealistic. I beg anyone to come forward to claim that this has been done. Building inside structures is largely not possible. Strategically placed locked walls are completely undone by the gas bomb mechanic and people scan apartment buildings with ease, upon login, because of archaic HDDs. Please stick to examples that you've actually used and not ideas that you've only spent 5 seconds brainstorming. Difficult to believe and not a good reason to not seek a solution to an exploit. -
Seeing through the map when logging in on console
Parazight replied to Tommygunz89's topic in Suggestions
This problem becomes apparent when players with garbage hardware log into a larger city. Player built structures render before the rest of the city, so with the right angle, you can scan the entire city for hidden stashes and bases, making all hiding spots useless. I would say that it's not an exploit because it's unavoidable. -
Okay, I watched the video. It doesn't mention damage values of grenades at all. I further went to his youtube website and looked for related information. I didn't find any. Could you post a link to the exact source?

I think it's stunning how thoroughly you've convinced yourself that not paying for a product is okay. -
Experimental Update 1.16 (Change Log)

Next to nothing? I don’t know what that means. That’s really vague. Could you quantify that and list even the little bit that you think they’re doing? -

I imagine that the devs haven't had a chance to experience this as they don't work on old Dell computers, running windows 7, using 1T HDDs. >.> -
The phenomenon observed when humans are otherwise able to achieve super human like feats because of tense situations and importantly, how to translate that into an authentic game simulation. As in, adrenaline that soldiers would have when in actual combat. You gotta be some cold ass cucumber not to have a rise in adrenaline in real life combat, I imagine.

I'm not sure about your proposals, might be good. What are your thoughts on simulating adrenaline and the use of epinephrine?

Experimental Update 1.16 (Change Log)
Parazight replied to lynn.zaw's topic in PC Experimental Updates
Yea right. Go do some research, like when Bill Gates bailed out Steve Jobs so that Apple wouldn't collapse. Microsoft is so far ahead. The only fear is that they become a monopoly and face severe government restrictions. Microsoft is 100% not worried about Linux. lolwut. It IS unreasonable to let people just get away with piracy. Principles DO matter. -
Experimental Update 1.16 (Change Log)
Parazight replied to lynn.zaw's topic in PC Experimental Updates
Interesting, I kind of wish that I had an old system to try that out on. The wording that I read at Microsoft says that for the tool to work (consumer created thumb drive installer of win10) that you need to purchase Windows 10. In my opinion, people who exploit, cheat, scam, and find workarounds to obtaining software legitimately are weak and lazy. "They aren't hurting" is the battle cry for people that don't understand how business works, or are too poor to be buying video games in the first place. lol. Like this perfect example. As William said, "childish" is pretty spot on. -

Well, the devs say to defrag HDDs, not SSDs. Windows 10 is free to upgrade, but leaves a permanent watermark on your screen, everywhere, until you fork up the money. Right? -
How did you determine this?

Make pill symbol flash 10-30 seconds before going out
Parazight replied to Shift's topic in Suggestions
Basically, you're lazy and have no willpower. But for some reason you get your clock out and time how long the pill lasts. And if one is able to 'cheat' we may as well make it easy to do. Is this correct? -
Seeing through the map when logging in on console
Parazight replied to Tommygunz89's topic in Suggestions
Yes, this has been a known issue. I've suggested to put a 'flashbang' type of effect on the player, blinding them, upon relog. Maybe if they've logged out within the last (five) minutes, or if necessary, every log in. -

Parazight replied to Shift's topic in Suggestions
Wait, you drink bad water while you have the pill debuff? Because you have the pill debuff? That's called gaming the system. Do you know when a pill -in real life- expires 10-30 seconds before it's ineffective? Seems like a move against authenticity.
