Unless you know what you're doing with mushrooms, it's really a gamble. Your chances of not getting ill increase when you cook mushrooms. This doesn't guarantee safety, but it doesn't hurt. Taste is often better, too. Making you vomit from a stomach ache is authentic, not eye-rolling hallucination suggestions. imo.

Please no. Not related to any existing mechanics or gameplay loops. Doesn’t sound like an authentic experience from taking psychoactive fungus, anyway.

This is a good suggestion. Great for pure pvp deathmatch games like dayz where killing other people is the main focus. It’s not really needed for a true survival game, but then again, what survival game has things like IEDs and explosives over fixing the survival mechanics? reasonable suggestion, for sure.

Your last thread, which didn’t get any replies, is just as terrible. Nobody is going to work for you. Why would anyone help you build a server but have no authority over it. You don’t even know if you posted in the right place. Lolwtf

Suggestion: Do something about the public server cheaters
Parazight replied to Etrius_vanRandr's topic in Suggestions
I disagree. BattlEye sucks, no doubt, but the game sucks just as hard on security issues. Cyber criminal behavior is also not limited to gaming. It's widespread and government sponsored. The bad guys are always 2 steps (or more) ahead of the police. It's a constant catch-up. -
A compass has one job, to point to magnetic north, which it does perfectly. maybe as a new player you get lost easily. /shrug.

Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to introduce the comedic stylings of the hugely successful Bohemia Interactive company….

Spam bot necro. Ocean breeze is a brand name for hair products. Sneaky cuz there’s no link, but still a poster with zero interest in the game.

Where’s the suggestion? who said anything about realism? We can’t smell or poop. Plus there’s infected in it. Realism was never the goal. Lol.

We can't board up pre-existing structures (the logical thing to do in an apocalypse). Also, and most importantly, a player will never build a base without checking an online map to see where the gas bombs land. Right? Authentic? NO. So even if it is balanced, it's still really gamey. Let's say you're playing on a high pop server that has heavily vetted its player base. Maybe you play on a LAN with many people who you trust not to cheat since it's whitelisted. Is base-building and breaching balanced then?
-
Perhaps you’re looking in the wrong places for NVGs. You might have better luck finding them on the corpses of dead players. I would recommend killing people on sight on higher pop servers.

Idea: What if bases would only load for online players?
Parazight replied to Nicklander's topic in General Discussion
So, you agree with me then. Great. Except for this proud and arrogant assumption. That's not really how it works. Production is based off of money, not feelings. Developers write code based off of instructions given by the people who pay them, even if they think it's bad. So we can't really point the fingers at the developers. Hell, almost all of the people who were familiar with the technology left the company. This is not an efficient way to develop anything. We have no real communication from the company, despite years of people giving feedback on a tracker that is overly convoluted. So, we can only see what they've done in the latest update. What we have is a bunch of new base-orientated objects (IEDs and bomb related stuff) but no improvements to base-building itself. We can't even board up pre-existing structures in vanilla, but for some reason it's important to have many different ways of breaching a base. It's really just throwing things into the game at this point with no real high-concept gameplay loops being completed and polished. It's just adding more shit on top of a pile of other things that don't work. So disheartening. Ideally, the game would benefit from innovation and creative ideas, but it's like trying to make your car better by somehow adding more doors and wheels. That's what offline base-phasing is, adding more doors to an already existing car. -
See, these are actual "Quality of Life" improvements. These are not brand new ideas that would require development from the start. Asmondian has obviously carefully considered elements of the game and made suggestions to improve something, with the idea in mind that it wouldn't take a ton of development and/or resources. And he gives reasoning behind his suggestions. He isn't suggesting stuff because it's cool. He's not making broad suggestions. It's in detail. He's also reviewed the history of the game and knows why some things may not be possible. He's making reasonable suggestions, not asking for an in game tutorial, bicycles, dynamic loot per server pop, and trains that travel around the map. It's clear that he's not suggesting impossible things that have already been discussed numerous times.

I don’t think the OP knows what ‘QoL” means. Seriously, stop making suggestions if you think cars measure the volume of water in their cooling systems.

Parazight replied to Nicklander's topic in General Discussion
No. This suggestion is for the vanilla experience. The OP's suggestion might be okay for a mod, but if you're making suggestions for vanilla, then everyone can react to it. We don't need to fix basebuilding. We need to get rid of it. I deny that. Base-building doesn't need innovation and creative ideas. It's a mechanic that has never fit. It should be removed as it's not necessary for survival. Maybe the servers would run better if they did. -

"oh look, I can't build here because someone has a base here but it's not rendering because they're offline. Looks like it's time to set up a bunch of tripwires. I think we'll camp across the street and wait for this guy to log in!" or. "I waited all this time because I knew there was an offline base here. The guy logged in, I shot him right away, but he logged off right away so all of his base loot 'unloaded' and now I can't loot it. Not fair!" No, your ownership idea isn't gamey at all. Totally authentic. 'easy to solve' -

Parazight replied to Nicklander's topic in General Discussion
The concept of ownership in a collapsed society is not authentic. The concept of ownership isn’t possible with this game engine. As you said, it’s not possible with this engine. Why suggest something that would knowingly require a total rework of the engine? -
This is probably the best suggestion in your list. With the additions coming in 1.18, we need more options for base building. This is probably one of the easiest ones to implement. It already exists in several different mods. Snapping together base structures is also good. The vehicle related suggestions were fun to read.

Experimental Update 1.18 (Change Log)
Parazight replied to lynn.zaw's topic in PC Experimental Updates
Wipes? This looks like a great addition to the game. Normally I would say that explosives are extraneous and belong in a mod. But might as well walk that back and say that, 'Yes!, bombs are important to an authentic survival experience". And yes, all the gameplay loops/mechanics are now intricate and intertwined to create a comprehensive and fleshed out gaming experience. This is my story. My story involves blowing shit up in order to survive. -
Yes. Some transparency would be great. The PR guy/management for BI is garbage. The one piece he put out had no relevant information. Mostly just patronizing to the fans. Car physics severely past estimated times. “Wipes are done purely for game balance reasons” is a lie. PR is nonexistent. There’s no one to monitor the official forums. So many wasted opportunities to promote the game. Obviously shit management. Probably not profitable to lose all the people who know the technology (new engine) half way through a project, huh? How can any reasonable, educated programmer actually believe this shit show will be around until they retire? Unreal.

Professional companies also do whatever they can, especially when it costs very little resources, to have positive public relations with their consumers. Back in February, the PR manager, who has never been on these official forums, said that testing of cars in DayZ would be coming 'in the following weeks'. It's been months. It's fine if vehicles will never be fixed. We're adults, we'll be able to handle it. Tell us that. Stop telling us "fixes are coming" then do nothing. Year after year of squandered potential.
-
This is true. It was a game based off of a mod, designed to be a game for modders.

Do you think I could get a refund for purchasing Livonia if they make it free?

Hi, this happens because of the hardware. This problem does not exist for computers with fast SSDs. Well, it does, but it only happens for a microsecond. I'm not sure if there's a way to change the application code so that the data loads faster. I have suggested a sort of 'blindness' debuff when a player loads to deal with this exploit. Something needs to be done. I'm sure the problem is known, but a specific response is unlikely. You live in the Czech Republic? Maybe you should go to the Prague office. Tell Spanel yourself. Or maybe talk to the PR manager, if you can find him.

Root Cellars as a middle ground between buried stashes and bases
Parazight replied to Ethan Beaty's topic in Suggestions
I’m not clicking on some strange link, so I didn’t see your picture. But I can tell you that your post wouldn’t be ruined if you spent some time writing. Also, anything below the map surface isn’t feasible or practical.
