  1. This topic has nothing to do with server hopping. They are two completely different things.
  2. It has already gotten attention from the creator of the mod. You will not get more attention than that. You do not need to create a thread every time you think there is a problem. The mods tell people to use the search function for a reason. You are knocking good ideas that people should be reading off the first couple of pages making them disappear. This is a suggestion forum. If a suggestion has already been made about the same topic you want to post about, reply to the thread. There is no need for anyone to still be reading about this topic. Rocket even discussed it in his interview on Gamebreaker.tv, and said that although the problem is easy to fix idea wise, it is fairly difficult to implement due to coding, so he may not even attempt to fix it until the game gets ported over into the new engine. That isn't going to happen for several months. We don't need to read about something that cannot be fixed within the current realm of the game, especially when it is on the mod designers to do list and there is nothing he can currently do about it.
  3. This is so far from the truth. There are dozens of benefits to teamming up with people. There was a post that I believe Zed made that had an excellent starting list on the benefits of teamplay. The game does not need to change to your play style. You need to adapt how you usually play towards the game. This is the reason why people die all the time. They expect that people are going to be the friendliest people in the world. This is not the case, and even if it was, running up towards someone who has a loaded weapon is never a good idea. But people do it on a regular basis, yelling friendly over and over, and then they get upset when they get a bullet in the head. Then they come post on the forums about how surprised they were that they got shot. It blows my mind that people think like this. It is a survival mod. If you die, it isn't the persons fault that killed you. You failed at surviving. Change how you try to survive and you will find yourself much better off.
  4. Playing with friends will solve a lot of your problems. If you don't have friends that play, take a look at the Survivor HQ and see if there aren't people who are willing to team up with you. If you die, and have nothing, you shouldn't really be upset. You had nothing to lose. All someone did was basically make you respawn. You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. If you die, and you had stuff to lose, it is your own fault, especially if you were trusting a complete stranger who had nothing. This doesn't mean you can't trust people, but you can't give them the benefit of the doubt that they are next in line to succeed the Pope. People aren't dumb for killing you, you are dumb for dying. It really isn't what people want to hear, but there are very few situations that occur where this isn't the case. The core of the game is a military sim. It requires you to think, sometimes a lot, before you act. Failure to do so will more often than not end in your death. Take a moment to observe your surroundings. Try and watch people for a bit if they haven't seen you before you put the blind faith in them that they won't kill you. Often if you watch someone long enough, you will see them being presented an opportunity to kill someone else. How they react in that situation will usually be the exact same way they will react towards you.

    [Video] Alt-F4 and Ghosts

I apologize, I didn't realize you were looking for advice. I just saw the thread title and watched the video and made an assumption. The problem with your line of thought here is you had already been detected. You were shot at while you were inside the building. Not sure if you know or not but there are multiple floors you can access in the building you were in. You should have tried to use that to your advantage, even though you probably would have died anyway since the building is so exposed on the upper levels. Rewatch the video. I'm sure you heard the gunshot after you died. If you had been right next to the person who killed you there would have been a gunshot as soon as you fell. This wasn't the case. The very first rifle you hear being fired (not the pistol) is the guy who killed you. He was in that tree line for what appears to be the entire time, providing overwatch. Not sure how you define ghosting but I don't think it would have been needed to kill you. You fired one of the loudest guns in the game at a person who was traveling in a group. It was done in a sealed area where your enemy was able to view all available exits. There were only two ways you would have lived, kill the remaining two or three people, or disconnect. You wouldn't have been able to run out of there alive. I wasn't talking about hacking either. The first person you shot would have had to have been the luckiest person in the world to not have died. The Enfield will kill a man in one shot. So there was no relogging and magically appearing behind you from that guy. Basically what I'm saying is you should rename your video Alt+F4. There was no ghosting and nobody repositioned on you from a different server. My suggestion would be aim a little higher next time and don't even give the guy an opportunity to disconnect. I think your video started with you logging in right next to the building as well. You may want to run up and into the forrest next time. Disconnecting next to a building, or in one, is generally never a good idea. If you didn't start there then nevermind, it just sounded like you logged in and immediately started recording.
  6. So you personally feel it is an exploit. Ok. The people that have created the mod have not said anything about it. What you are saying is no different from people that believe using 3rd party VOIP programs is cheating. It has no merit, and we have not been told that by the Developers. I am not "pussyfooting" anything. Your opinion is just that, your opinion. Just because you have one it doesn't make it a fact.
  7. Isn't actually what he said. He can't do much about it. The hackers are spawning items in his inventory. He drops them and moves along. Stop trying to get people banned that aren't even hacking. He's played the game for a total of about 2 hours.
  8. I would enjoy the link that directly states loot cycling is an exploit. Feel free to share it with us.
  9. I don't disagree that the UI could be improved, but that isn't on their to do list right now, and from what I understand, this was another major change for Arma 3. If it has already been fixed in the game it would be ported over to, I don't see why they should spend time on it now. "Arma 2 features around 80 realistically represented weapons with many variants including assault rifles, machine guns, and missile launchers. There are around 130 vehicle variants, and any vehicle that exists in-game can be controlled by the player, including everything from civilian cars, tractors and bicycles. Similarly, all aircraft encountered in the game can be flown by the player. All have limited fuel and realistic weapon loadouts" From the A2 wiki. Even BF3 would have a difficult time matching that number, and that is the latest major FPS on the market. Nothing can come close to the number of vehicles either, and this is a 3 year old game. It would be foolish for BI to start marketing this as a brand new game right now. They have a perfect platform to learn from, which will find and locate issues within the game that they will be able to fix on final release, or just implement a fix with the improved engine that will be running Arma 3. There is no reason to pick a brand new engine right now, it wouldn't make any sense. They would have to port it over to the new engine, fix all the bugs associated with doing that, and then continue the testing in essentially a brand new environment. I am a major supporter of the Cry 3 engine, but I don't know if it would be able to do all the things Arma 3s engine can. Wind, bullet drop, physics, explorable underwater areas, and 300km maps aren't easy to run. I know it has the ability to do some of those, but part of the fun in playing DayZ stems from the realistic nature of the Arma 2 engine. Changing to the wrong engine could essentially turn this mod into L4D, and people obviously don't want that to happen. The group they have working on it is doing a great job with what they have. If they manage to get this to near perfection, and maybe incorporate some mods which are already very successful in the Arma 2 community (read ACE), they will be able to deliver a great game once it is ported over to the current Arma 3 engine.
  10. @ Aeia There is nothing that says the game is definitely going to be a stand alone product. That is just what Rocket, and a lot of other people are wishing for. @OP The game has outdated graphics because Arma 2 is almost 3 years old. This isn't the final version of the game. The latest patch supposedly offered a bunch of performance increases already. Arma 2 doesn't really handle a loot system very well as Rocket stated in his interview. If the game gets ported over to Arma 3, hopefully that engine will be able to handle loot systems a bit better. Not really sure what you mean by better user interface. The one they have right now does just fine. I'm sure it could obviously be improved, but I couldn't imagine this is high on the to do list. You are not going to find a game with more weapons than Arma. The vehicles and interior of the vehicles has been improved already for Arma 3. The mod is buggy because it is an alpha version. Over time these bugs will be removed, and I'm sure on final release a lot of the problems we currently see will go away. I'm also sure there will be plenty of new bugs to take their place, just like every other game that is released on the market.

    I've Given up

Try the troubleshooting forum. I also use six launcher and it in itself fixed a lot of problems I was having when I first started playing. The servers I could play on used to be hit and miss. Now, if they are on the list and running the latest patch, I rarely have a problem getting in to play.
  12. People who prefer playing at night are in the minority, but I do find it more fun then playing during the day. It wasn't that long ago that there was a few servers that were always full at night time. Now it pretty much never happens. It's the reason the G17 is my favorite pistol as well. Never really understood why so many people prefer playing a survival horror zombie game during the day. Kind of ruins the experience imo. Kind of understandable when it used to be pitch black at night i guess, but that isn't the case any more.

I hit the mother load...then bam

Admitted server hopper comes on forums and complains. Then gets upset that the community doesn't approve of server hopping. Tries to justify it by saying the game is getting old and boring, yet all he does is hold onto his gear and jump servers looking for tents. Pretty funny, would make a good comic. To the above poster, yes, having 1 or two characters per server is a good idea. You remove server hopping. You remove groups of people finding high end guns in different servers, then flooding into one server with all of their high end loot. It makes tents and camps more viable. There are dozens of reasons as to why it is a good idea. If the server crashes, the admins will get it back up. If not you can start somewhere else. You could even build up two or three characters across two or three different servers in the event something like that happened. It makes a lot of features the game currently has more viable, and the only real downside people can think of is "what happens if the server crashes". That isn't really a justifiable reason to prevent it from being implemented. There are way more pros than cons.

    DayZ is what it is

This thread is really needed. /s
  15. Would like to see bandits that take over small towns. Town would be clear of zombies since the bandits killed them, and would be a good resource of food/water/medium grade weapons(ak's, shotguns, pistols)/medical supplies/etc. Basically everything you would need to survive on your own would be in these random towns in abundance. Once the town is cleared of bandits, the loot despawns around 30 minutes or so later. Could either be announced on the radio or people could just randomly find them. Perhaps at night time they can be more easily identified by being completely lit up by flares. Would give people a reason to play at night, and give people a reason to go to the smaller towns and venture away from the cities. If you really wanted to go far, the idea could be tied to the humanity system already in the game. Perhaps expand it so there are towns run by bandits, and towns run by survivors. Your humanity level would determine the level of hostility the AI has towards you.
  16. And to be fair you said he shut the server down. If he shut it down he would have to restart it to get it back up, thus moving the helicopter. I don't think you understand what you wrote, which is why you got the responses that you did.

    [Video] Alt-F4 and Ghosts

Very fishy stuff happening? You got shot from the tree line in the distance. You heard a guy crawling right on the other side of the wall from you. There was only 1 person that dc'd. 1 person disconnecting and you dying afterwards doesn't make it fishy stuff. Yes it was lame that he disconnected. But you got shot at inside a building that offered you protection, and then you ran out into the open afterwards and died. There isn't anything fishy about that. It should have been obvious that there was more than 1 person there, especially since there were two different types of gunshots you heard before you even engaged the disconnector.
  18. I fail to see the reasoning for this post. You realize the game already does this right?
  19. zipper

    Sniper problem solved!! I think?

The game should not be altered because you don't have sufficient sound coming from your pc.
  20. Anyone know if this has been fixed with the latest patches? Don't really enjoy disconnecting everytime I interact with the environment.
  21. zipper

    Completely revamp Ballistics

They cannot just take the ACE mod and implement it in their game. It isn't theirs.
  22. So you created another brand new thread? Thanks we definitely needed this.
  23. There are various ways that loot can be controlled. Unfortunately, if I understood Rocket correctly in his interview yesterday, Arma 2 doesn't really handle loot very well. I'm sure if he gets his wish and DayZ becomes standalone he has some good ideas to work the loot system. But right now I am more concerned with just getting an answer regarding loot cycling. I'd like to know if this is considered an exploit or not from those creating the mod.

    Short break without disconnecting

So abort like the rest of us. Requires pushing one more button than what you have proposed.
  25. If you didn't have anything why are you concerned about it? Just respawn and move on. People kill for various reasons, they do not always match your own. Running through Cherno is a deathwish anyway, not really sure why you are surprised about what happened.
