Easy Solution to Solve Many Problems

Just because other problems exist doesn't mean fixing some current issues within the game is a bad idea. Server hopping and combat logging is a real problem currently in the game. If your character was saved to the server this would fix both of those. Getting rid of server hopping also would balance out the loot appearing on each server. People wouldn't be able to server hop to a 100 slot server with all the best gear. You are also listing problems that can easily be fixed when the game goes standalone, and you can't list hacking as a problem that Rocket needs to fix, he has no control over it. There is hacking in every game, and until the anti cheat programs step up their game, or the files are locked down by Rocket, this problem will continue to exist. Saving the character to the server does not remove the persistent character feature. It is just persistent on each server, as opposed to being persistent on every server you can hop to. If you are paying $3000 a month to host a server you are being ripped off. These suggestions are not being made for the game in its Alpha state, these are for final release. If you think server hopping is a legit tactic you are a fool. Solutions to this problem are being implemented within the game. If it was a legit tactic they wouldn't be trying to solve the problem. I have to believe you are just trolling since nobody with the slightest bit of intelligence would come onto the forums and try to justify server hopping as a legit tactic. Either trolling or mildly retarded.

DayZ is booring at late game - my idea.

Events have been suggested several times and I think they would be a really great way to combat the boredom, but it depends what they want the game to turn into. Events would turn DayZ into an mmorpg, and that might not be the direction Rocket wants the game to go.
  3. Just don't eat or drink. Eventually you will starve to death. Start crawling to a town and see what happens.
  4. Why do you care? You know the game will be transitioning to standalone. I understand how frustrating these types of people can be, but there is no reason to "ban someone for life" because they griefed you or alt+f4'd out of the game. It just needs to be fixed so they can't do those things. You can't ban someone for taking advantage of a game mechanic that should have been fixed by the devs months ago. As long as it is fixed in the standalone game, I don't really care what goes on in the DayZ mod. Edit: Just saw that you think people who kill on sight fall into the griefer category. The entire value of your thread just died. If you can't figure out how to deal with the shoot on sight problem, by yourself, you don't deserve to be playing the game, let alone making suggestions for it.

    1st Person vs. 3rd Person

Prefer 3rd person servers with CH off. 1st person view is just too restrictive and offers you no awareness of what is immediately around you, unlike what you would have IRL. Clearing buildings and firefights I use 1st person only. If they found a way to reduce the head bob of 1st person, and gave you some way to be aware of what is around you, I wouldn't have a problem playing on 1st person only servers.
  6. No I didn't misread anything. I'm well aware of what you wrote in the title and in your post. And in watching the video you are complaining about as50s the whole time when that wasn't even the gun you were being shot with. You don't have any proof they were exploiting either, so please stop accusing people of doing such things until you record some actual proof of them doing it.
  7. OP accuses people of using thermal AS50s and cheating in game. OP records a video to show us this proof. OP forgets to put the proof in the video. Fail OP.

    Ban all Bandits!

Side chat removes some of the immersion in the game, so no thanks. You shouldn't have to check a little chat box to figure out if someone is talking to you or not.
  9. Wiping everything does nothing but delay bug finding. Since we are here to find and report bugs, we should be keeping our equipment in between patches. I wouldn't mind if there was a wipe at every big patch, like 1.8, 1.9, etc. but doing it every time Rocket releases an update isn't needed.

What would you say about this guy.

Combat logging is done by douchebags. We all know this.
  11. Q: The ability to sprint for unlimited distances seems to completely counter the design of a giant map. Do you ever plan to put limitations on player sprint?

    We need keys!

I have been hoping for this to be implemented for awhile now, but from what I understood there was nothing in Arma 2 that would allow it to work. If this is something that can be modded and added into the game, it should happen right away. It never made any sense to me that people would find vehicles, spend the time to fix them up, but whenever they left, they would always leave the keys in it. Keys not only should be able to be found, but a machine used to make keys should be added in as well, giving people the ability to make keys for larger groups of people. Make it so the key cannot be made until the master key is found. I'd like to see keys made for some sort of metal fencing too, giving people the ability to lock up their camps while they are away. Right now it is too easy to just romp through the woods and stumble upon a camp site that has all the best gear in the game. There needs to be some difficulty added into actually acquiring that gear.

too many hackers. need FF=OFF servers

The irony in this thread is people thinking FF being off will stop hackers from killing them.

    M16A4 ACOG / M4A1CCO Aiming Light

The taclight on the M4 HWS GL doesn't work either. I'm sure there are other guns that have attachments that aren't working correctly as well.

    Snow

This would really help improve the environmental aspect of the game. Right now there is really no challenge to being out in the woods all day long. I'd like to see this change, and snow would really help it out. It could still be sunny with snow on the ground, and occasional snowstorms could blow through Chenarus, forcing people to make a camp or get inside. I'd really like to see starting a fire during a rainstorm go as well. People need to be forced to the smaller towns throughout the map.

    Ideas for Humanity? :o

This is what I am talking about. Rewarding people for their play style will split the community into two extremes, forcing them to pick one side or the other. It is a solid idea for an MMO that has distinct factions that are fighting against each other. But not for an open world survival mod where people are supposed to have the freedom to do what they want. On top of that, the minute you reward banditry, everyone and their mom will be on the coastline shooting brand new players that spawn in. People already have problems with being killed after a fresh spawn. This would magnify the problem x1000.

    One Character Per Server

I don't really think it could be done any other way. What Federick21 said was also an interesting idea that could work, but I don't see how they could maintain doing that for the life of the game. It would be interesting to see if this could be tested before final release. I'm sure there would be a lot of useful data collection that could be gained from doing it.

    One Character Per Server

No, what I meant to say was exactly what I said. I do not try to put words in your mouth, so don't do it to me. If you sense my posts as being "aggressive" towards you, perhaps you need to re-evaluate the way you are reading them. If you had bothered to read my first post you would have seen that I covered the exact scenario you were asking about. Yes I know what being attached to your gear is. Your post illustrates that you do not.
  19. I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were a forum moderator and can restrict where I can and cannot post. Oh wait you aren't. So apparently everyone who disagrees with you, and points out faults in the things you are saying, is "on your dick" and is being overly "aggressive" towards you. I don't remember ever calling you a child, or attempting to belittle your post. Why you feel you can do it to me, but I don't have the right to do it right back to you is rather amusing. I will pass though, as there is nothing of value to gain from making you look more foolish then you already have. Feel free to reply to the actual comment I made regarding the faults in your posts. If you cannot do so without throwing a temper tantrum then maybe you shouldn't be posting on a public forum.

    Ideas for Humanity? :o

Your idea forces people to play a certain way. Those who would not shoot on sight would now be forced to do so. On top of it you already know it completely mimics the reason the bandit skin was removed, and it would be limited to only a select number of servers that have tags enabled. As you can see, suggesting ideas that force a certain gameplay lead to suggestions that penalize the gameplay of others, as Vertisce so eloquently stated. Since Rocket himself said he would not force people to play the game a certain way, and he said he wouldn't ever penalize people for playing the game however they see fit, you get no support from me. On top of that you are doing this.

    One Character Per Server

You deal with it and move on to another server. You aren't supposed to get attached to your gear anyway remember?
  22. If you kill everyone that gets near you you have a problem playing with another player.
  23. zipper

    One Character Per Server

This has been suggested several times. Should try to search the forums first. In regards to your idea, yes I agree there should be one character per server. Maybe even two. It would instantly solve two major problems the community currently has with DayZ. 1. Server hopping for loot. 2. Trust. To all the people that are going to ask "What happens when the server goes down, or gets shut down?" You deal with it. It isn't a big deal, and in the long run we are here to test the game for Rocket. If you have to create a brand new character then so be it. One character per server greatly helps strengthen the trust between people playing, since you will start to see the same people over and over. You will learn who the bandits are, and you will learn who is there to actually help you out. This is the only reasonable suggestion I have seen that can actually reduce the shoot on sight mentality, without punishing or rewarding people for how they play the game. The only problem with this idea right now is there is only one hive server. Since it would require a large expense to be paid by the people developing the game, it would make more sense to just implement this once the final version of the game is released. We are, in the end, here to test.
  24. If you honestly don't believe there is reward in helping people, you are a large contributor to the main issue people actually have with PvP in DayZ. It takes about 5 seconds to realize some of the many benefits to be gained from playing with another player.
