Hey guys. My dad got a new PC and is gaming again, so I steam shared our accounts so we can play each others games. It worked for most of my library, but not all. the 2 I noticed didn't carry over were DayZ and Warframe. I know you guys don't know anything about Warframe things so im not concerned there, but I would like to know whats up with DayZ. Does it not carry over since its still in early access or something? Did I do something wrong? Thanks for the help.

Can you take the tents? Or are they just for looks?

I like the idea of a large urban area. I've actually suggested it before. if GTA can do it without sacrificing too much performance, why cant DayZ? The city would be where lots of the lore surrounded. The infection would have started there, and been the worst there. The most zombies would be there. There would be highways headed out, jam packed with abandoned vehicles of those who decided to continue on foot. The city is where shit would have hit the fan. Right now we see some of this spread out throughout the bigger cities in the map (namely Cherno, Electro, and Novo) but we need bigger. Just imagine a city the size of Los Santos in the corner of the map somewhere. It would be insanity. Slightly off-topic, but since a single-player version was being considered, perhaps we could have the single player mode be a campaign of the first days of the infection? You play as some 9 to 5er in the city, and as it all is going down, you must survive and escape the city, and once you reach the countryside or other safe refuge, that's the end? And then the online starts as it currently does, you spawning in the middle of nowhere. You could go back in to the city, but it would be extremely dangerous. But possibly extremely profitable. Great idea over all. I wish the dev's would consider it (or any ideas the community suggests, for that matter).

DayZ is a player driven game. It is also a very realistic game (or at least its supposed to be). Having enforced safe zones would be contrary to this. The point is your supposed to create these things. Having them there permanently and not having to defend them is wrong. But, you gathering a group of friends and creating your own safe haven somewhere in the wastes, with the goal of helping and sheltering every man you meet? And then having to defend your hard work and lifes from bandits, zombies, and anything else that intends to destroy your work? Now THATS awesome. I support that greatly. That's the beauty of DayZ. You can create these things, and do literally whatever you want.

not neccasarily. Theres times ive fired up an old car or an old ATV or something with whatever gas was in the tank, which is sometimes 5+ years old or more. Granted they don't run nearly as well and don't start as easily, but it will run, expecially after it gets warmed up. New gas is better, but old gas gets the job done in a pinch.

I support all. But your right. Lets support it anyway, and the casuals will learn soon enough which improvised attachments work and don't work ;)

More vegetation in city's, warning announcement, roads
d.walker43 replied to aldink's topic in Suggestions
Not all of them crash. Very few of them crash. Hence, why theres 1-3 crashes. There could be dozens flying around that we never see. Theres lots of plot holes in DayZ. The devs say we need to create our own lore, but that's just not possible, since everyone disagrees with each other about it. They need to accept that, and give us some backstory. -

The NATO heli crashes didn't happen on day zero. they happened later. They are happening as our game is happening. While no lore is concrete, from what little there is it shows that Chenaurus is quarantined, and the rest of the world is either fighting off the zombies on their lands, or are just worrying about keeping Chenaurus in check. The heli crashes are helis that were flying over to survey the situation or fight the zombies and such, and were shot down or just crashed. By whom or what we may never know, since BI is so bad at lore. At this point its all speculation. I personally believe its been at least a year, probably more like 3-5 years. Otherwise, there would be a ton more survivors still. As time goes on, they would decline in number. Now, when we hardly see each other, is after its been a long time and the only ones left are the ones who are either genetically immune, or are just very good at surviving. There would also be many more zombies, but since its been a while, they have also began to die off or be killed by the survivors and the NATO strikes and such. -

This isn't neccesarily true. While it works most efficiently for 2 years or so, depending on the vehicle some gas will last much longer. I work on ATV's and dirt bikes and such in real life, and theres been times ive fired up an engine with whatever gas was in the tank, sometimes being 10+ years old. While it doesn't run well and it clogs up the carbeurator fairly quickly, it does indeed run. You just got to shake it up a little first, over time the different things inside begin to separate, if you shake it up, while not completely restoring it, it will help. I think its probably been a few years, between 2-5 or so. I don't have an answer for the medicine part, those might very well last only a few months. All I can say for that is that this is a video game, so 100% realism, while it would be nice, is near impossible. We need some lore in the game so theres no more debate of this. Good day. -
not surprised too much here. I can run it on my Dell Inspiron laptop ($425) at like 30-40FPS on medium settings. Perfectly playable, and looks pretty good too. Hopefully when more features and more zombies and such are added this isn't impacted too much. laptop specs: CPU: Intel Core i3 4010U 1.7Ghz GPU: Intel HD 4400 RAM: 6GB DDR3 500GB Harddrive 1366x768 screen res

All great ideas except this one. All very accurate, but this one is not. gut shots have very slow blood loss. Immediate medical attention would probably be needed, but not for blood loss. infection would be a much bigger concern here. Other than this one though, the rest were all very accurate and this game needs that. I've made multiple posts about it, only to be shot down by 12 year olds trying to explain to me that its an early access, which to them apparently means everything will come later. Good ideas though, keep up the good work

is the roadmap and estimated Beta times still accurate?
d.walker43 posted a topic in General Discussion
hey guys. Im wondering if the roadmap and projected dates for Beta and Release are still accurate. As I understand, we will see Beta by the end of this year, supposedly. that will last about 6 months, with a full release being in mid 2016. However, considering how far behind they are with the roadmap (due to "unexpected delays" on nearly every update) are these times still accurate? Or will it be moved back a ton, like the release of the Early Access was a full year? Not insulting the devs, but it is true. Thanks. -
hey guys. before I start, let me say that I know a new in-game UI and inventory system are being considered, or maybe even are WIP behind closed doors. So don't be ignorant and just tell me "they know, shut up". Anyway, here goes. I think not only the inventory system, but the main menu and server list and just all of the menus and things in general need to be a little more polished. Make some of the things, like the server list, a little easier to navigate. Make the buttons for filters and stuff a little more noticeable. In Arma 3 its a lot better than DayZ's, but even there it still doesn't look complete. The whole thing in general needs work. When you back out of a server, the final confirmation button is literally a copy and paste from Arma, saying something about the "mission being cancelled". it doesn't even make any sense. The main menu should have some music or something too, instead of that annoying swishing noise. The background could be made more interesting too, perhaps some screenshots or short clips of random locations of Chenaurus, also possibly adding to the lore some? Theres several videos out on Youtube of people with ideas like these. I'll link a few below, I suggest whoever is reading and the devs should go watch some of these, and possibly borrow some ideas from them. If improvements were made in this area, it would help the game look a lot more appealing and finished to people considering purchasing it. That's all I've got, any feedback below is appreciated, don't be ignorant though.Thanks. polish up the main menu, menus, and UI a bit?
d.walker43 replied to d.walker43's topic in Suggestions
I think some of you misunderstand. I'm aware that the current inventory and menus "work". Im also aware that a new inventory is in progress. I'm suggesting the main menu and such be polished up a bit, for the sole purpose of making the game look a little more complete. The main menu is the first impression, after all. And the server list in its current state, if you've never played similar games before, is impossible to navigate. We eventually get the hang of it, but im referring to players who are new to the game here. They're going into it already thinking how the menus and server list look so incomplete and buggy. I really do suggest you watch some of the videos I linked, they really do have some great ideas. And don't be a ignorant child like @Guppy The DayZ Medic and waste both his time and mine. He probably cant even go on Disney.com without a parents permission. -

Rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, paper beats rock?
d.walker43 replied to Coheed_IV's topic in General Discussion
What your saying makes perfect sense, yes. However, your example is not really whats going on. Mechanics and Upholstery are both important features, such as, say, vehicles and base building, among many others. Using your car restore example, I think RPS emotes would be like adding a spoiler. Its not important to the use or function of the car, just like RPS is not necessarily important. You would add a spoiler or other accessory after getting the car running and looking good, just like they should add RPS after most or all core functions are in. What we're saying isn't neccesarily right or wrong, its more of our opinions on the matter. I just think it makes sense to finish a game before adding extra little things. -

d.walker43 replied to Coheed_IV's topic in General Discussion
Do I have a specific example or inside track, no. But what I do have is a basic understanding of how a early access game is supposed to operate. Core features go in in pre-alpha, then extra stuff comes in beta/after release. I think rock/paper/scissors emotes counts as being "extra". They need to be working on their core features and polishing the existing items, not wasting their time with extras, otherwise the game will never be done. I guess I think they should be working on base building, or more vehicles, or something that needs to be done before beta. The other stuff can wait. Otherwise we will be in early access until 2020. -

d.walker43 replied to Coheed_IV's topic in General Discussion
I agree, there could be some funny interactions. The only question I have is why are we working on extra things like this, when we could be working on, well, important features to finish the game? Stuff like this should be in Beta or even after release. not now. -
I hate complaining and posting "when is it coming" topics, I really do, but, how about instead of just locking them all and telling us "be patient" like little kids, actually give us some info? And a little more info then just 'its coming", and links to Twitter posts that are a week old? I mean its early access, bugs and problems are expected, but you guys manage to screw it up on EVERY update. It gets frustrating, fast. Also, @OP, playing any game other then DayZ is a good way to pass the time.

Difference between standalone and mod?
d.walker43 replied to hansanitizer's topic in General Discussion
I thought it was supposed to be done early next year? Well actually it was supposed to be done this year? The due date keeps getting moved back. We will be old men before its done. Nothing ever gets done right around here, its always delayed and bug-filled. I get its an alpha but its getting ridiculous. now its up to 1.5 years? Is any of the info you guys give us reliable anymore? Sorry for the rant but I'm getting pissed off. Also, @OP, as others have said, SA will EVENTUALLY be a lot better then the mod, even if that is many years from now. It is still very fun in its current state, but the development status is...slow. -
set your settings exactly to what this video says. I didn't download the stuff he recommends, I just changed my settings, files, and launch options to nearly identical to whats in this video. I gained at least 20 more FPS from it. Very helpful. the video--> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7HigjHoRR4

Hey guys. So...wheres 0.58 stable? It was supposed to be here Wednesday. We've heard nothing new since then. Its now Saturday. You wonder why people quit playing and constantly rant about the development process, this is why. It happens every time. If your gonna have release dates, try to stick to them. We understand things go wrong sometimes, but every damn time? Really? Its getting ridiculous. If theres gonna be delays, at least tell us instead of just going and hiding away. Rant over.

I do think that shooting and wounds need to be more realistic. Right now everyone just aims for headshots, because they do the most damage. However, realistically, it would probably be wiser to aim for the vital organs. lungs, heart, etc. Not only for shooting humans, but animals too. As a hunter, you have to pick your shots carefully when hunting animals IRL. I'll use the average white-tail deer as an example. You usually want to get a broadside shot, and aim for the general area a couple inches above their front leg. This is where the heart and lungs are both located, along with a couple other important organs. There are other areas that will kill the deer, but this is the easiest and usually the quickest kill. The same concept applies for humans. If you shoot them in a vital organ, they will probably die fairly quickly, possibly even instant. However, if you shoot them in, say, the stomach or intestines, it likely wont be a kill shot. They very well might die later, but most likely from the wound getting infected, not from the wound itself. I like the idea of being able to pick my shots according to what I want to do. If I just want an instant kill, and im at a distance, always aim for center of mass, AKA the upper chest. If I execute a hostage at close range, I'd probably just go with a headshot since theres no chance of missing at point blank. If I want to incapitate someone at mid to far range, I'd go for either gut-shot or legs. I think eventually I might make my own thread about this stuff before I get too far offtrack here. Good ideas though, I hope they add this kind of stuff in.

Hey guys. Im thinking of joining a private server, as im as sick of server hopping and hackers as the next guy. DayZRP looks like it has potential to be really fun. Ive heard a lot about it being both good and bad. Looks like a lot more friendlys then on public. Ive also heard that they're admins are a bunch of care bears though. So, Im asking you guys. Is anyone here a member, and if so, thoughts on their servers? How hard is it to get into their whitelist? Any answers are appreciated. Thanks. NOTE: Ive already used the search function and done some research. I couldn't find what I wanted, so im asking here, if you put some stupid comment like "use the search function dumbass" or "don't make new threads" then your comment will be deleted. Thank you for using what should be common sense.

Hey guys, I have an idea that could possibly be a solution to the never-ending problem of server hopping for loot. If you've ever played H1Z1, you know that your player is locked to a specific server. While this solves the problem, it creates the new one that in order to play with your friends, you have to create a new character from scratch. So my idea is, why not have a timer that allows you to server hop, but only, say, once per day or something? This way, you could have a main server that you play on, but if you want to join a friend or something, you have the option to hop to a different server without losing your character. However, if you can only hop 1 time per day (or whatever the amount was, I'm just using 1 a day as an example) it would be so slow looting that it wouldn't be worth it to server hop for loot. It would be quicker to just run to the next military base/airfield. the ONLY downside I see is that if you go join a friend or something, then you might have to wait a whole day to get back to your home server. Or you might have to create a new character anyway to go join your friend if you used up your daily hop. Maybe we could have like 3 character slots, and each one of these gets 1 hop a day? That way you could always play with your friend, but you just might have to make a new character. Your characters should not be allowed to interact with each other though, I havnt figured out a solution for that, if anyones got an idea I'd love to hear it. I know theres flaws in this plan, but I personally think it could be at least a temporary solution to the problem. I'll gladly listen to any feedback. Thanks.
